Imagine!

Rather than allow the National Guard to rescue people in such dire circumstances, Louisiana's democrat Congressman made them go rescue his "stuff."

Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a local congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftops, ABC News has learned.

Who would do such a thing? Why none other than... Rep. William Jefferson, an eight-term Democratic congressman.

Although Jefferson claims "I did not seek the use of military assets to help me get around my city," reality is that Jefferson put the safety and well-being of his people behind the rescue of "a laptop computer, three suitcases, and a box about the size of a small refrigerator," all of which the enlisted men loaded up into the truck.

But wait... there's more!

You see, the truck got stuck, and more military assets were required to rescue the Jefferson rescue team. A Coast Guard helicoper was signaled, and circled for 45 minutes, using up precious fuel, before Jefferson decided to stay with the truck.

"Forty-five minutes can be an eternity to somebody that is drowning, to somebody that is sitting in a roof, and it needs to be used its primary purpose during an emergency," said Homeland Security Expert Jerry Hauer.

Why would Jefferson do such a thing? Well... one can speculate that it might have had something to do with evidence...

... authorities recently searched Jefferson's property as part of a federal investigation into the finances of a high-tech firm. Last month FBI officials raided Jefferson's house as well as his home in Washington, D.C., his car and his accountant's house.

The "authorities" are, of course, the FBI, and Jefferson has recently set up a special trust fund for contributions to his legal defense in light of the investigation.

A senior federal law enforcement source tells ABC News that investigators are interested in learning if Jefferson moved any materials relevant to the investigation. Jefferson says he did not.

Yeah. Right. That's democrats for ya! CYA, always, first and foremost! Okay kiddies, let's all say it together... "Jefferson lied and people died."

I read the items he took from his home were his laptop, 2 large suitcases, and one large box. Wonder if that was evidence? The FBI will probably be unable to finish their investigation now. How sad. I wonder how many black voters he'll lose?.....not counting those that may have drowned while waiting for rescue.

Rush did a heck of job on him today. If your a 24/7 member you can hear that particular out take although he may have listed that on the 'free side' of his site. I can't tell because I'm 'cookied' so I'm always on the membership UrL.

Lot of good circumstancial stuff there. What surprizes me is the MSM through ABC picked this up and ran with it. Also it certainly sounds like he grabed some stuff that could be incriminating. They way the whole state has been run the Cosa Nostra could probably pick up some pointers.

And also--how about those $B-illions of dollars!? Who the heck is going to spend that?
I've already begun to call some Senators and talked in person on the phone to their DC offices and said I'm really concerned that a lot of legitimate tax paing Americans are going to get hosed if any of the Landreau family gets near those billions.
