21 Bum Salute

'Tis 2005, a new year and a new quest... to find the ever-popular Moonbat of the Year. Looks like there is gonna be a lot of competition this year:

Police ordered naked cyclists to get their gear back on in central Auckland yesterday, after arresting their leader for alleged indecent exposure.

Even so, motorists were treated to a "21-bum" salute, equating to the number of scantily-clad cyclists who rode in convoy to protest against the world's dependency on oil-fuelled transport.

They all had to wear underpants or briefs after the police intervention, although several female cyclists were allowed to remain topless, with or without body paint.

The expose was part of the World Naked Bike Ride, a growing movement in which cyclists in 15 countries are daubing their flesh with anti-oil slogans to "reclaim the streets for people", Auckland organiser Simon Oosterman said.

Thats right kiddies, its the World Naked Bake Ride, coming soon to a city near you. They did St. Petersburg, Florida on Sunday but I can't find any news stories on it.

Of course, this is not a new thing, moonbats have been pedaling around naked for years now, for some reason, they will use any excuse to remove their clothing in public. This pic is from June 2004:

When I see this stuff, all I can think is.. Some people should never appear in public wearing only a pair of sneakers and a bicycle helmet. Why are there never any pretty people at these events?

If you are a moonbatologist, and wanna know when to show up with your camera, check the World Naked Bike Run website for details on upcoming cities. Warning... lots of pictures there.

As someone who has bicycled for many years, I can give you one reason why this is a stupid idea, other then the gross-out factor of seeing the guy in the beard with his scrawny body and his unit flapping about.

There is nothing more painful that riding around for a few hours without proper cycling gear, including shorts or pants with crotch padding. Unless you have an ass made of granite, you're going to wind up with the most painful saddle sores after just a few miles.

I notice in the bottom photo that a couple of people took the bold step of wearing pants. However, denim jeans would also be a bad choice, since they often have internal seams that cause the same butt/crotch irritation.

These clowns don't give a crap about oil or the environnment. They just wanted to ride around naked. I hope they're paying for it now.

Any truth to the rumor that some of them take the seats off their bicycles?

They have one of these rides up in Asheville, NC, sometime during the summer. Asheville is a touristy town and is about 30 minutes away from me and just brimming full of moonbats, left over wannabe hippies, enviro wackos, and every other anti-anything you can imagine group you can think of. They did the ride last year and tried to make a big deal of it ahead of time, but everybody (all of 10 people maybe) wore shorts and T shirts, no nakie. But had they been just think about the poor (unaware of what is going on) parent, that is out on a sunny Saturday with the kids for an ice cream and these folks ride by. Personally I could care less if somebody wants to protest, that is the right granted to them by the 1st ammendment. But when the protest invades me and infringes on my rights then they are wrong.
