It snowed!
Okay, not here, but in Central Florida, it did! Here its just.... cold!

I've lived in Brooklyn and it snowed, I've lived in Upstate New York where it snows, and I've lived on top of a mountain in West Virginia where it snows. In West-By-G-d, the snow was up to our armpits and we couldn't drive all the way to our house. We had to leave our vehicles about halfway, and then pull ourselves up the mountain with a rope/cable strung along the tree line. I used to tie a sled to my waist to drag the groceries up.
So, no thank you. I've been there, done that, and life is difficult enough without having to shovel snow.
Bring on the Global Warming!

Hey Linda, do you have a couch I could crash on till spring? It's too damn cold up here. I should have stayed in TX.

I just might Mac, but I need to know, are you willing to wash the dog?
If so, perhaps we can work something out...

I have been reading your blog and found you interesting enough to make one of my frequent links. You sound like a tough enough person so don't go girlie on us now. It is just snow...and where you are it is probably just a few flakes. So grab a blanket and a snifter of cognac and cuddle up with someone and wait it out. Hmmm....doesn't sound so bad now does it?

Now that does sound good Joe, can we have a fire too?

Like you, I don't like snow, my last winter in snow country I shoveled an accumulated 13 feet of snow off my roof, not to mention the drive and the street .
Yesterday we had heavy rain and hail with thunder.
I recognise now that I didn't move far enough south but the rain runs off by itself, I can get in and out of my driveway and I don't worry about the house collapsing. No I don't miss -40f to -60f ambient temperatures with off the chart wind chills or the nip of frostbite.
The doctor says no to the Cognac but I will slip a bit of straight Bourbon or Scotch in on occaisions, and listen to him complain. He hasn't traveled in my shoes yet.
Go ahead and light up that fire Linda.:)

Where upstate?
I froze in Syracuse for 12 years.
We didn't see flurries here in Jacksonville, but just south, in Orange Park they did. Man it's COLD.

That works for me Linda, hell, I'll do the housework while I'm at it as well!

Oceanguy, I lived in Warwick NY, it's a small town not too far up from Greenwood Lake, NJ. I spent less than a year there, and that was too long to be in that place.
Of course, that was half a lifetime ago.
It warmed up nicely during the day, I'm not sure what the high was but when I went out for lunch, it was gorgeous. It'll drop again tonight and then should be warming up again.

Jack, someone told me a story about a friend who lived way up north, his parents were elderly and a large snow had blocked them in. Usually, the father would climb out the window to dig out the door, but at his age, he could no longer do it. The roads were blocked and it was several days before the son could get up there to dig them out. They were pretty much out of food before he got there.
I remember thinking... why? Why not just move?
sheesh!

Mac, I'll leave the light on...

It broke the record of 40 degrees at the Palm Beach Airport this morning.
Of course I used to remember when it didn't get above zero for a week.
