Something... and Half of Something: This is not a blog war!

This is not a blog war!

It's a browser war.

From my December, 2006 stats, it would appear that there might be a few more than three of us still using IE6.

Yannow, the whole browser thing just ticks me off. I tried Firefox last year and most of the websites I visited just didn't work, they looked screwy, so I dumped it.

You get a few newbies browsers on the scene and their "language" is different from the language everyone uses, their stuff doesn't work with the stuff that's out there and the end result is that everyone has to learn a new language to accomodate the newbie, who refuses to learn the existing language. I had to tweak the heck out of my site to make it work for the few Firefox users who visit my site and eventually I had to have help from the ever fabulous Sadie to make it work.

Why won't the newbies learn the language of the internet dammit?!?!

Just saying...

It's IE6 that's the problem, not IE7. Just sayin'!

Most of my readers are of course IE users as well, but IE7. That's all.

I'm fabulous? Who knew...

Does IE7 not work with some of your other applications? Microsoft hardly ever does tests on such things before they release updates to their browsers. They really should think of the "little people" ya know. ;-)

So, last year all I heard was dump IE and get firefox or opera or something, anything but IE.

This year it will be get IE7 and hurry up about it.

Given Microsoft's track record for bugs and security glitches, I'll wait just the same.

yes, Sadie, you are fabulous and most of us know that.

I'm not having any trouble with IE7, mostly because I'm still using IE6!

Here are my stats

One day I will get IE7,it might be right away, it might be months from now I don't know. It will be when my computer tech says the glitches are out of it. I am not good enough with computers to take those glitches out myself and the stress of dealing with all that is just too much for me to handle.

I will call them again today and ask if it is better yet. I am just terrified to put it on and then have a computer nightmare begin.

I use the latest version of Firefox and have no problems with any sites or other blogs (except Wild Thing's where I lose the side bars. It's something in her code---that you used to have a problem with, Linda.) I can still read her site except all the side bar stuff is at the bottom.

Firefox gives me all sorts of options I never had with IE6 (but IE7 now has) but I do not use IE7 except on the Microsoft Portfolio page as I do not trust the new build----too many bugs.

You really should give Firefox 2.0.0.1 a shot again, Linda.

Actually, most sites are written to accommodate IE, which does not conform to the HTML standards I'm told.

It's a little tricky, but a site can be written to work well with both, like mine does.

The number of security holes found in FireFox has overtaken Internet Explorer in the past 2 out of 3 quarters. This is because Microsoft knows they are a target and aggressively work to fix their product. This is another reason to stay with IE.

I am sure FireFox is a fine browser, but until most of the market share belongs to them, I will stick with Microsoft. I am responsible for over 1500 workstations and cannot take the time to chase compatibility issues.

Those are my two cents. I am an IT guy and have no affiliation with Microsoft. I would appreciate any commission they would offer though. 8-)

"The number of security holes found in FireFox has overtaken Internet Explorer in the past 2 out of 3 quarters. This is because Microsoft knows they are a target and aggressively work to fix their product. This is another reason to stay with IE." I call BS, Joe. Another MS astroturfer.
