Just stay home Harry
Terrorists have vowed to kidnap or kill Prince Harry when he fights in Iraq, it is reported.
The 22-year-old is due to be sent out in May with colleagues from the Blues and Royals regiment.
Threats have been posted on extremist websites since his deployment was revealed, The Sun says.
One message said: "Prince Harry will be sent to Iraq to be killed by Muslims."
Another added: "May Allah give him what he deserves - like his fellow crusaders."
Army officials fear the Prince will be paraded on television if he is kidnapped.
The prince will serve in armoured vehicles A Blues and Royals source told the paper: "Officially Harry is being treated just like any other soldier but in reality everyone knows how desperate the insurgents out there will be to get their hands on him."
Internet terror expert Neil Doyle was quoted as saying: "Harry would be the ultimate prize for one of these insurgent groups.
"He would be worth his weight in gold in propaganda terms if killed or captured."
From the end of May, the prince will be patrolling in Scimitar armoured reconnaissance vehicles in Maysan.
Harry will this week pose as a hooded hostage in a special training exercise, the paper says.
His men will use tear gas and stun grenades to free him.
-------
I respect you, Harry for wanting to serve and for not wanting to be coddled just because you're the prince, but for crying out loud, like it or not, you are not the average soldier, you will be a number one target for terrorists, your presence in Iraq will excite the enemy, and there will be increased attacks across the board in an effort to get you.
Stop thinking of yourself and your determination to be treated like everyone else. You are not everyone else and what you insist on doing is not only increasing the risk for your unit, but for all troops on the ground.
This war is not about you and going over there is going to make it about you. What you are doing is just plain selfish.
and your little dress rehearsal is no preparation for what you are going to face and if you think it will prepare you in the event of capture, think again.
For the sake of the troops, stay home Harry! There are plenty of other things you can do to support the effort.

Insane!!! I understand his need to prove himself, his manhood in battle. Like all celebrities he's a magnet for the Muzzies, his fellow troops will be the target as much as or more than he. It's his choice to make as much as it is the Brit military's. If it is Harry's romantic ideals of martydom that is driving him or some hidden desire to rally his nation against the islamic horde upon his death he needs to rethink what his presence will do to endanger the rest of his troupe. Whether he be captured or not he needs think about what these beasts do to captives, especially high ranking captives, a revisit of the taliban atrocities against captured Soviet soldiers in Afghanistan, may sober his judgement. He'll also learn that any romantic notions about combat are dashed once the realization sinks in that they are really trying to kill ..... him.
God save us from fools and zealots!!!

Hmmm, well, why train the guy to do a dangerous job and then say it's too dangerous for him to do it? I consider the peril he's putting his buddies in to be more serious than his own personal safety considerations. The real sticky wicket would be his capture and the resultant propaganda shock value.
But Englishmen are so . . . so . . . so bloody British, you know. We understand them about as well as they understand us; as Winnie called us, "Two great nations separated only by a common language."

Am I mistaken, or is this the kid who not long ago thought it was a good idea to dress up like a Nazi?

Stupid decision. He will require more troops for security than war good he will accomplish. Of course, if he is captured and killed, it might arouse the British people to look at this war and their muslim population a bit more realistically ------ well, maybe.

Jeeeesus...can't win, can we?
In this nation of ball-less wimps,
suddenly somebody act like a man,
and he still get dumped on by those
we'd expect would support him...
All this sound like all these creeps
harping on Ann Coulter for telling that
the King is naked!

Sorry Captn, but you miss my point.
Sometimes you have to think of the team, of the unit, of the military as a whole and not just the person, or the celebrity.
Harry's presence in Iraq will increase the attacks on our troops.
And in my mind, that's a bad thing.
There's just no reason for it. Harry can support the war in other ways.
That hardly compares with the non-binding resolution a handfull of bloggers made about Ann Coulter.
