Robert A. Levinson

That's the name of the American missing in Iran for weeks.

He's retired FBI, he worked in the organized crime division and he lives here in SoFla, Coral Springs is just a hop, skip and jump from my home. By the way, Bobby is Jewish, and known to be proud of it.

The last anyone heard, he was on Kish. Say a little prayer, huh?

----------------

UPDATE from my comments: A report by Iran's PRESSTV claims Levinson was detained through a misunderstanding and should be released soon.

and...

A report by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, disputes the PRESS TV story: "There is no evidence on the alleged disappearance of a US citizen in Kish Island, southern Iran, local officials said on Tuesday. IRNA reporter in Kish quoted the local officials as saying that the US is required to indicate identity of the individual and the flight he took to Iran. It is likely such allegations are being made for political purpose, because no tourist was disappeared in Kish Island."

Robert Levinson was no typical ex-G-man; he was one of the world's top experts on money laundering and the Russian mafia. And Kish Island, the site of his disappearance, is the future home of the Iranian Petroleum Exchange, which Iran is counting on to fund its military build-up. I've got much more background on Levinson and an educated guess about the Canadian documentary filmmaker who hired him at: http://writingcompany.blogs.com/this_isnt_writing_its_typ/2007/04/more_on_robert_.html

Bobby and I worked several cases when he was on active duty with the FBI, an exceptional investigator and interviewer, he is the best in several areas, and I look forward to seeing him after his release.
