Sanctuary!
So, according to the UN, the US has offered sanctuary to 7,000 palestinians from Iraq. Ain't that grand! Just think, no other country in the world will welcome them, even their arab "brothers" reject them, but the US is throwing open its doors.
Just forget about all those "Death to America" chants and the post-9/11 celebrations. Remember, palestinians are our friends.
In a perfect world, these palestinians would be settled in a blue state, preferably Massachusetts, but this is not a perfect world. Goodness knows where these palestinians might end up, but if you're lucky, it could be your state! And what if it is your state? What changes could you expect?
Well, in accordance with the demands made on Israel when it comes to the palestinians, we can assume that any state offering sanctuary to palestinians will provide the same fair and equitable treatment of palestinians that the world has demanded from Israel. Despite their "reputation" for blowing themselves up in discos and pizzarias and shooting rockets at hospitals and grade schools, you shouldn't worry, and your sensitivity to what has been described as their "natural reaction to oppression" will help them overcome these character flaws.
In accordance with palestinian religious beliefs, one of the first things the palestinians will want to do upon their arrival in your state will be to destroy any and all places of worship already existing in your state and to build a mosque on top of the land where they once stood. All religious books other than the Koran will be burned or otherwise destroyed. The fires are very pretty and will be enjoyed by your entire community.
Any attempt to stop the palestinians from exercising their religious freedom in your state will be considered an act of oppression and result in the immediate declaration of an intifada, and the lives (and the land) of its citizens will be forfeit. The declaration of an intifada means that the palestinians are now allowed to kill as many of your state's citizens as possible, using any and all ways and means available, while the rest of the world cheers them on. In accordance with condemnations of Israel for taking actions to protect her citizens, you can be sure that your state will not make any attempt to deter its palestinians from slaughtering its citizens in great numbers, and will to allow them to do so without any hinderance. In fact, your state will likely provide them with bus passes. Failure to do so will result in the immediate declaration of another intifada.
As a citizen of your state, you would do well to remember that once the mosque is standing, you will not be permitted to enter the grounds, lest you defile such a holy place. Should you, or any citizen who is not a palestinian, ever set foot on the grounds, another intifada will be declared.
Jews and Christians are offensive to palestinians, and your state should immediately relocate any and all Jews and Christians out of the state and to a place far away enough so as not to offend the sensibilities of the palestinians, perhaps the moon. Failure to do so will result in the immediate declaration of yet another intifada.
Once your state gets its intifada(s), the re-education of your children in the fine arts of rock throwing and suicide bombing will immediately commence. The palestinians will then smuggle weapons and arabs from other countries like Jordan and Syria and Iran to support the intifada(s) (which your state will have brought upon itself). Any such arabs who manage to sneak into your state to kill its citizens should immediately be considered just another one of your state's palestinians. Construction of a border fence to keep "future" palestinians out of your state and/or the failure to make these palestinians welcome in your state will result in the immediate declaration of another intifada.
In order to support the intifada(s), safe houses will need to be established to allow for the storage of munitions and the manufacture of suicide bombs, tunnels will need to be dug to transport them from one neighborhood to the next. The destruction of these safehouses and/or tunnels will be considered a massacre of poor oppressed palestinians and will result in the immediate declaration of another intifada. Any palestinians killed in the preparation of bombs will be considered to have been a freedom fighter killed by your state and their deaths will result in the declaration of another intifada.
Of course, eventually, your state should offer its palestinians their own state within your state, since the failure to do so would be considered an act of oppression and result in the declaration of another intifada. In order to establish the palestinian state within your state, your state should forcibly remove a large number of its citizens from their homes and businesses and put those citizens in tents, caravans and/or jail if they resist, in order to provide the palestinians with the free housing they deserve. Failure to do so will also result in the immediate declaration of another intifada.
Yes, there is much to look forward to if your state becomes a sanctuary for palestinians, I'm sure you will enjoy your new neighbors as much as Israel does.

That cankersore on the Hudson has delivered another blow to the United States, I predict a population explosion in Detroit and Dearborn. Fomoco has a new batch of clientele and Carl Levin a fresh constituency.

a disgusting display of racism and prejudice. shame on you and this should be taken off.
Posted by: soleman at April 11, 2007 11:31 AM
Oh, goody. I need some new people to oppress.
And soleman? I notice she didn't say "Arabs," she specifically said "palestinians." Since you believe the "palestinians" to be a separate race, who's the real racist here? Additionally, "prejudice" means "pre-judge." She's basing her opinion on known facts about what they have done in Israel; therefore it is not "prejudice." If you must characterize it as anything, call it disgust at the import of undesirables--and I join her in that disgust.
Besides, if you wish to dictate what she writes, I suggest you either pay her full-time to write content that appeals to you, or GET YOUR OWN FUCKING BLOG. What chutzpah, telling someone else what to write on her own property. Now run along and go do what I said, boy.

What you suggest is certainly possible, no doubt; however, it is also possible that being exposed to real freedom and opportunity will change their hearts?
It has been suggested by the likes of G.W. Bush that freedom and prosperity are the keys to solving the problems in the Middle East. If you were to take some of the people who are largely at fault for the continued violence, and displace them into a land of great wealth, freedom, and opportunity, is it not conceivable that they would reject Jihad?
In the alternative, if Bush is wrong, and economic and social opportunity are not the solution to the problems faced in the Middle East, how do you propose we handle the solution?

Linda, a wonderful bit of snark, right up there with Mark Steyn (he of the suspiciously Jewish-sounding last name).

I suppose anything is possible Fab, but the real question is, is it likely. And if you asked me if it were likely, I would say no.
Why? Well, with regard to palestinians in general, look to how they are raised, what they believe in, what their goals are, how they treat their children.
Every generation has been raised on the same thing, hatred, violence, abuse and murder. From birth, they are taught by their parents, their schools and their government to seek only death and destruction. Every bit of input into their psyche is geared toward hatred and violence. Can economic and social opportunity change that? I don't believe it can.
They had freedom and prosperity, or at least some of them did, working and supporting the agricultural businesses in Gaza, the same businesses they destroyed when the Jews were expelled from Gush Katif. They burned, pillaged and destroyed everything that was built by Jews and then left behind for them to use.
There are palestinians living in Israel, in freedom and prosperity, and they use their freedoms to help those living outside of Israel to murder Jews. They smuggle in arms, they carry suicide bombers to their destinations. There are palestinians in the Israeli government, and they use their position to promote the agenda of acknowledged terrorist organizations.
They are not interested in freedom and prosperity. Its not the goals thay are raised to seek, and they are raised to despise the western culture. They view our lifestyle as evil and vow to destroy it.
Remember the palestinian woman who was given access into Israel so Israeli doctors could treat her terrible burns, the one who was then caught at a checkpoint loaded down with explosives, on her way to kill the doctors who helped her?
With regard to the palestinians who were living in Iraq, they were there at the behest of Saddam Hussein, who was a great supporter of the palestinians who killed Jews, to the tune of $25k to the families of suicide bombers. There is documented evidence of palestinians in Iraq participating in the jihad against our troops. They were useful to Saddam, but the arab world has little to no tolerance for palestinians outside of Israel and have been known to slaughter them if they refuse to leave, a practice that appears to be well tolerated by the rest of the world, as there is no outcry against it.
The palestinians have a saying... that they will defeat the Jews because the palestinian culture seeks death, and the Jewish culture seeks life.
They don't care if they die trying to kill us. Its how they were raised. Don'f forget, to the palestinians, Israel is only the little Satan. America is the Great Satan.
Remember the story of the scorpion and the frog.
Simply put... its their nature.

I generally agree with almost everything you post on this blog, however, one important distinction to make is that Palestinian does not necessarily equal Muslim terrorist nor does it necessarily mean Muslim. Some are, in fact, Christian.

Linda, when the clueless Mr. Tom Lantos, he of unquestionable moral authority, and Miss Pelosi, who will be using Mr. Lantos' unquestionable moral authority to shield herself from criticism, announce that their forthcoming "fact-finding" mission to Iran has yielded a historic diplomatic breakthrough, perhaps maybe we will see more of these type of exchanges. How about some student exchange programs to foster "greater understanding", for example?
This is insuperable naivete, on the part of both of them. Pelosi has an excuse, because she has no clue to begin with. Lantos, OTOH, who believes in the power of "dialogue"- is in effect legitimizing the Nazis of his own day by attempting to reason with them. There are no words that can describe his forthcoming folly.

Yes Blake, you are right, there are palestinian Christians, but not many. They make up less than 2% of the palestinian population. I don't know the statistics for other religions.
65% of palestinians voted to put a terrorist organization in charge of their country and their lives. Recent polls reflect that Hamas continues to have strong support despite economic sanctions and increased violence.
72% support the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit.
66.8% support more kidnappings.

Pelosi has no excuse Vince, the position she is in requires that she have a clue, or get a clue.
The State Department has no excuse either, American dollars support the palestinian terror structure.
Posted by: LindaSoG at April 12, 2007 12:00 AM
Yes, Linda, that is all true- but Pelosi's background is that of the totally naive San Fransico Liberals, who have no idea from the beginning of how the world works and how evil operates in the world. In that sense she has no excuse- she's been living in a haze all of her life. Lantos, OTOH, has seen evil up front and first hand. He still thinks that dialogue can save the day, even after the seeing the Nazi evil with his own eyes. In that sense, he's got less of an excuse than she does, and he's an incredible moron to express the desire that he would "be on the next plane" to visit the Satan's lair.
Posted by: Vince at April 12, 2007 12:08 AM
I don't know Vince, you might be right.
But, look at Pelosi's father, true, he was a democrat, but, he broke from Roosevelt on the issues of rescuing Jews from Hitler and creating a Jewish State.
She grew up with this man, and yet, look at her!
She had to make a conscious decision to break from whatever she learned from her father to become an enabler of terror.

Im sure an interesting dynamic existed between a young Pelosi and her dad, and it would have been interesting to be the proverbial fly on the wall over the years to chronicle whether Nancy P's descent into the nether regions of cluelessness was brought to fruition by either rebellion against her dad's moral authority, or the fact that her dad never imparted to her his beliefs and wisdom about how the world works in the first place. We can only speculate on that- but her entire political career has been one of abject failure, and every time i see her wide-eyed and smiling on the teevee, i literally see an insecure deer in the proverbial headlights, trying so hard to project an image of authority and leadership- only to screetch into the annals of irrelevant politicians, past and present.
But, there's some good in everything- At least she's reliable for a guffaw on a nightly basis- makes my dinner go down a heckuva lot easier.
