Bend over America

The House and Congress finally got something done and no one told you about it. Buried under a media blitz about an immigration bill that isn't even written yet, lies the largest tax hike in U.S. history:

"With all the other news this week, the media barely noticed that Congressional Democrats passed a budget outline that envisions more than $200 billion in tax increases over five years."

Yes, you read that right, $200 billion over five years coming out of your pocket and you can be sure the media did notice, they just didn't tell you.

The Associated Press account never mentions tax increases. The Wall Street Journal’s headline cautiously refers to a “partial lapse of tax cuts.”

How did the vote go?

Not a single Democratic senator voted against the tax-increasing budget -- not even Nebraska's Ben Nelson, who often departs from the party line and who supported the Bush tax cuts.

and

... no Republican member voted for the budget, while 13 Democrats opposed it. Of the defectors, left-wing Rep. Dennis Kucinich voted no because he said the budget would fund President Bush's Iraqi war effort throughout his term.

Kucinich will do anything to lose the war, but still, the "budget" has been passed in both the House and Senate, and now, the only thing standing between your wallet and the Congressional pickpockets is President Bush.

Beth has more on this, a lot more, so go read it. and weep.
