Something... and Half of Something

It's a democracy. Every knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing dunce in this country (18 years of age or older) has the right to vote.

The people who fashion and promulgate our laws know this. So, in order to either achieve public office or remain there, our elected monkeys...er, officials, will say or do anything that serves to perpetuate their own careers.

I believe in democracy (considering the alternative). But democracy requires an educated, thoughtful voting public in order to manifest a working population of officials that work for our best interest.

When you pause to reflect on how many voters have a public education (gasp!) and get their political impressions from watching "The View," it is hardly surprising that we end up with a government that spends 95% of its time trying to placate a herd of morons and only 5% trying to do what it was elected to do in the first place.

/cynicism off.

Whenever I feel the need to accuse our government of being a group of dullards, I have to acknowledge that it was a pack of idiots that put them into power.

Seriously. If you were to evaluate every American citizen you met every day and decide if they had the brains of a rhesus monkey or were to be trusted with the power of the vote, what statistics do you think you'd come up with?

This type of.....reaction from the U.S. government usually doesn't boggle my mind too much - this guy talking was from the U.S. State Department....they're not operating in the same spacetime continuum that we are.

The US State Dept should be declared a terrorist organization.
