Something... and Half of Something

I wish we had the support we need to mount a recall of the idiots that are now in Congress. Hillary Clinton is proposing a vote to reverse authorizing war. This all started with what amounts to a complete abdication of congressional authority. The United States Constitution gives power to Congress — and Congress alone — to send the nation to war. The Iraq war had precedents (Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm), it is totally unconstitutional for Congress to (a) transfer its war-making power to the President, and (b) authorize the president to use America's military to enforce the wishes of the United Nations.
No matter how many vote to do so, members of Congress have no legitimate power to redirect their authority to the President. Yet, this is what both the House and the Senate did in October 2002. George Bush is only doing the job granted him Constitutionally by Congressional authority and at this late date they want to punish him for their mistakes by abandoning the troops, the Iraqi people and their fellow Americans. Once started, wars have a will of their own, the very nature of war is that it is an uncontrolled event that either should be fought to be won or not prosecuted in the first place. I have nothing but contempt for our spineless, gutless, Socialist Congress.

It used to be the case that 'politics stopped at the water's edge'. Unfortunately that no longer seems to be the case. Forget about presenting a unified front to the enemy....posture for political gain.
