What a show!!!
The Fort Lauderdale Air & Sea Show was this weekend, and this year, I got to watch from a prime peice of SoFla real estate overlooking the beach. Up off the sand, in an air conditioned condo, filled with good food and drink, at times it seemed you could almost reach out and touch the planes as they went by. Ooohs and Aaaahs floating up on the breeze.
The Marines treated us to an amphibious assault simulation, yeah baby, they stormed the beach!
This air show is one of the largest in the country, and it has a reputation for being one of the best in the country. We get people here from all over Florida and other states as well. Over a million people were there this weekend.
Special highlight... for the first time in 35 years, the Army gave a helicopter demonstration, piloted by Veterans from Vietnam to Desert Storm. They flew Cobras in a diamond formation - only feet apart - so close that the chopper blades seemed about to touch. The view from where I sat was spectacular, it took my breath away.
There were times when we didn't know whether to look up at the planes or down at the ships or straight out over the water, times when it seemed everything was happening all at once, and it was awesome! Colored trails of smoke left patterns in the sky.
The United States Military is awesome.

I forgot about the Air and Sea show this year, I knew it was coming but I just didn't think about it. I still don't get why they have it the same weekend as Sun-Fest... I guess the liberals go to SunFest and the rest go to the Air and Sea show.

The last time I did the show, there were a few loonies about a block away, protesting. I had a small group put together to counter them.
Every time one of our planes flew over, one of the bastards pointed at it and made shooting noises. It took a lot of effort to keep my guys from kicking his ass.
This year, if they were there, I didn't see them, but I didn't use the main entrance to the show.

I'm truly envious, I hope the Airforce will put on another show at McCord AFB this year, their last one two years ago was awesome. That chopper photo is super.

Hey Linda, I was there too! Funny, we might have walked right by each other without knowing. I could have bought you some of that great tasting Spanish Food they were selling at the food courts.
The Thunderbirds and the F-22 Raptor demonstration were the highlights of the show for me.
Did you say hello to Congressman Ron Klein for me? :P

Shooting at the planes but they don't like guns or war... do these people make any sense what so ever?

If I saw ya Vince, I would have been looking at the top of your head, heh. I was in a friend's condo, I never did hit the sand. I wish I would have known you were there, I would have come down for a hello.

No DoubleU, they don't make any sense at all.
They're all for peace, except where they think we should be at war and they're against killing unless they think someone should be dead and they're all for the children unless its inconvenient.
Such is the looney left.
