Such a Conundrum
For obvious reasons that need no explanation here, I despise the anti-Military bastards over at Indymedia, and I despise the scumbag nazi skinheads over at VNN. So, when they came up against each other on the streets of Knoxville, the conundrum arose... between anti-American leftists hell bent on destroying America and the racist nazi pigs hell bent on destroying America, who do you root for? It was a question that had not come up before. Since I despise them both, equally, between these two evils, there appeared to be no lesser evil to choose.
Thankfully, I was spared from the moral dilemma since it was over before I heard about it, and now I can just tell you about it. But... I have to tell you Indymedia's side of the story, because for once, the skinheads ain't braggin... and... the news reports kinda confirm it.
On the streets of Knoxville last May, it appears that the Knoxville Chapter of IndyMedia kkkicked some kkklan butt:
the VNN Vanguard Nazi/KKK group attempted to host a hate rally to try to take advantage of the brutal murder of a white couple for media and recruitment purposes.
Unfortunately for them the 100th ARA (Anti Racist Action) clown block came and handed them their asses by making them appear like the asses they were.
Alex Linder the founder of VNN and the lead organizer of the rally kicked off events by rushing the clowns in a fit of rage, and was promptly arrested by 4 Knoxville police officers who dropped him to the ground when he resisted and dragged him off past the red shiny shoes of the clowns.
I confess, over the years, I've had more than a few run-ins with VNN, their webiste is a cesspool of insanity and hatred, where they sign their posts with catchy slogans like "next time, build more ovens." I take it personal, just as I take the islamists personal, because, it is personal. They are talking about killing me, and celebrating the murder of my relatives.
“White Power!” the Nazi’s shouted, “White Flour?” the clowns yelled back running in circles throwing flour in the air and raising separate letters which spelt “White Flour”.
“White Power!” the Nazi’s angrily shouted once more, “White flowers?” the clowns cheers and threw white flowers in the air and danced about merrily.
“White Power!” the Nazi’s tried once again in a doomed and somewhat funny attempt to clarify their message, “ohhhhhh!” the clowns yelled “Tight Shower!” and held a solar shower in the air and all tried to crowd under to get clean as per the Klan’s directions.
At this point several of the Nazi’s and Klan members began clutching their hearts as if they were about to have a heart attack. Their beady eyes bulged, and the veins in their tiny narrow foreheads beat in rage. One last time they screamed “White Power!”
The clown women thought they finally understood what the Klan was trying to say. “Ohhhhh…” the women clowns said. “Now we understand…”, “WIFE POWER!” they lifted the letters up in the air, grabbed the nearest male clowns and lifted them in their arms and ran about merrily chanting “WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER! WIFE POWER!”
Yeah, just the kind of stupidity you can only get from the looney left, noteworthy only because it appeared to work quite well on the skinheads. In the end, the big bad rough and tough nazi skinheads ran away, surrendering to the looney leftist pussy-assed clowns of Indymedia.
Its almost... poetic.

Irony is so Ironic
Drudge has a loverly photo of Downtown Miami front and center today, with a new condo going up, with a peek at Biscayne Bay. The building on the left is the 55 storey First Union Financial Center, I used to work on the 50th floor, and I used to park my car right there, where that condo is now.
How nice that Matt chose to use a condo going up in Downtown Miami to illustrate our good economic growth, except, if you scroll down his page just a bit, you'll see an expanded view of where that building stands to illustrate the opposite...
The second picture is the view you would see if you got yourself on the other side of the condo in the first picture, turned yourself around and looked away from the Bay. The condo in the first picture is just one construction site, the second picture shows several and reality is, there are 25,000 new condo units going up in or near Miami's downtown. When they are finished, they will add to an already flooded market, what you see will one day be another building full of empty condos in an area that already has 23,000 condos listed for sale. Believe it or not, an additional 40,000 units have been approved, but will likely never be built.
If you bought pre-construction in that building, you have already lost money, since prices have dropped and no one will pay what you agreed to pay when they started construction.
Same town, slightly different view and a whole 'nother perspective on the economy.

The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
Of course, that would be registered firearms held by law-abiding citizens and it wouldn't take into consideration the numerous "saturday nite specials" held by criminals in this country.
That sounds like a lot of firearms, but...
In 1994, 44 million Americans owned 192 million firearms, 65 million of which were handguns. Although there were enough guns to have provided every U.S. adult with one, only 25 percent of adults actually owned firearms; 74 percent of gun owners possessed two or more.
Gun ownership was highest among middle-aged, college- educated people of rural small-town America.
In 1994, there were four in my household, two handguns and two shotguns. The ex took the handguns and one of the shotguns, I kept the other. Now I've got my old reliable Mossberg and my brand spanking new Kimber Ulta Carry. Most of the people I know who are armed have more than one, and a good many of them have what can only be called an arsenal.
Oh, and back in 1994, the general assumptiopn was gun ownership was in a decline. I guess they were wrong.

Ghost Army
It is a story of deception, showmanship, art and ingenuity kept secret for nearly 50 years.
In June of 1944, an exceptional U.S. Army unit went into action in Normandy. Its weapons included hundreds of inflatable tanks and a one-of-a-kind collection of soud effects records, and it carried out its battlefield mission without firing a shot. The unit was officially called the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, but it was known to its men as The Ghost Army.
The mission of this top-secret unit was to create a “traveling road show” to deceive the Germans about the location and strength of American troops on battlefields across Europe. From Normandy to the Rhine, they staged 20 battlefield deceptions, employing an array of inflatables (tanks, trucks, jeeps, airplanes), sound trucks, phony radio transmissions and even playacting to fool the enemy. Like actors in a repertory theater, the men of the 23rd had to ask themselves with each mission: “Who are we this week? What’s our story?” Then they would put on a show, with the Nazis as their audience.

Where were you when you turned 21?
Today is Gilad Shalit's 21st birthday, his second birthday in the hands of Hamas terrorists.
Gilad Shalit was raised, the middle of three siblings in a small community in the rolling hills of northern Galilee, near Israel’s border with Lebanon. His father, Noam, is a manager at the Iscar machine tools company; his mother, Aviva, works at the Society for the Protection of Nature. His brother is a college student and his sister is at high school.
Friends describe Gilad as studious, good at physics and a little shy. But they say he is quite determined in his own quiet way, and that when he was called up a year ago he volunteered to join a combat unit. His elder brother, Yoel, 21, is a student at a polytechnic in the northern Israeli port of Haifa. He has a younger sister at high school.
Gilad was kidnapped on June 25, 2006 by Hamas terrorists who attacked an Israeli army post on the Israeli side of the southern Gaza Strip border after having crossed through an underground tunnel near the Kerem Shalom border crossing. During the morning attack, two IDF soldiers were killed and three others wounded.
His kidnapping was the catalyst for Israel's subsequent attack on Gaza in a failed attempt to gain his freedom.
Today, no one knows where Gilad is, or even whether he is still alive. There has been one note early on, but no "proof of life" since then for Gilad. Hamas acknowledges they have him, and they taunt his family and his country with reports of his failing health.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Government rewards his kidnappers by releasing prisoners and the international community (including the United States of America) rewards his kidnappers by giving them cash money to fund more terrorist attacks. Its so hard to write about him. My heart just hurts. How the hell can the world accept this and expect Israel to work with these animals?
Two years ago, Israel gave up the Gush as a "show of good faith" to her "Partners in Peace." And in return, Israel's "Partners in Peace" sent thousands of rockets raining down on Israeli civilians, women, children, schools.
Last year, Israel should have fought until Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were released or until every single square inch of Lebanon and Gaza was buried under rubble. Hezbollah, Hamas, and Fatah should have been destroyed, completely destroyed, along with every single one of their supporters. The world would be a better place.
Instead, Israel gave up and accomplished nothing, and now, Israel has again released palestinian terrorists from its prisons in exchange for nothing, calling it a show of good faith to the evil bastards who hold these men captive. Originally, the plan was to negotiate the release of prisoners in exchange for the release of Gilad Shalit, but in the end, they just let the terrorists go free.
How would you like to spend your 21st birthday in the hands of terrorists, knowing that your country, and the entire world has abandoned you?

A tempest in a teapot
So... tomorrow's Opus has "been withheld from publication by a large number of client newspapers across the country, including Opus' host paper The Washington Post." The reason? Making jokes about Islam.
And just the week before, Opus was thoroughly ridiculing the late Jerry Falwell but that's okay.

Speaking of Bullets and Bullshit
The news is presented by the mainstream media aimed at deceiving America and the rest of the world into believing in a fantasy world where evil is good and good is evil. A world where if you can't find a kodak moment to prove your point, it's perfectly okay to make one up. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, even a fake one.
They give us staged news complete with serial character actors, doctored photographs, pretend missile attacks, children's toys placed on smoking piles of rubble, and then, they gave us this:
The innocent iraqi woman holding the shiny bullets that evil American soldiers shot at her house, probably while she was having a wedding celebration or something. Except, they're not bullets, they're cartridges and it's just another bullshit made up story to badmouth America and her troops.
Yeah, we saw it and marked it as bullshit. And although it made us angry, still, we laughed. We laughed because it's so ridiculous that it's funny. Except... it's not really funny. It's not funny because there are people out there who are foolish and ignorant enough to believe the mainstream media and their made-up version of reality. And that's scary, not funny.

Its lights out in Gaza
Going on four days now. Bummer.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents were forced to make do without electricity Monday as the coastal strip's power supply became the latest victim of feuding between Gaza's Hamas rulers and their Fatah rivals.
What? How could such a thing happen?
European donors stopped paying key electricity aid over the weekend, concerned that Hamas is siphoning off revenues. As Fatah and Hamas traded charges of corruption, at least half of Gaza's 1.4 million people were plunged into darkness.
Abbas released a statement Monday saying the electricity crisis took place "after Hamas took over the electric company and began collecting revenues from the population to fund its militia, which in turn drove the EU to withhold its aid for providing fuel."
Jawwad Hirzallah, deputy minister of economy, said Hamas was pocketing electricity revenues while the EU footed the power bill.
"Hamas is collecting all the electricity fees and never pays the costs of the electricity," he said.
Wow. Did I read that right? You mean... they're not blaming Israel?

Residents scrambled to improvise, following the irregular electricity supply from neighborhood to neighborhood to charge mobile phones and laptop computers.
Oh those poor palestinians, unemployed because of Israel, starving because of Israel and living far below the poverty level because of Israel, and... scrambling around to charge up them cell phones and laptops. Wow. Heartbreaking, ain't it?
However, there is a bit of good news in all of this...
Three residents of El-Fokhari, southeast of Khan Yunis in Gaza, were injured Sunday after rumors spread of the appearance of IDF forces in the area. A fire fight ensued between the armed groups, each suspecting the other to be Israelis. Only afterwards did they realize that no Israeli forces had entered the area and they had shot at each other.
Its so dark, they don't know who they're shooting at, so they're shooting each other. Too bad they're such lousy shots.

They claim those with blue eyes are more likely to sparkle academically than those with brown.
They are more intelligent and gain more qualifications because they study more effectively and perform better in exams.
In reaction time trials conducted by U.S. scientists, the brown-eyed performed better, making them more likely to succeed at activities such as football, hockey and rugby.
But the researchers concluded that those with lighter eyes appeared to be better strategic thinkers.
Blue-eyed boys and girls proved to be more successful in activities that required them to plan and structure their time, such as golf, cross-country running - and studying for exams.
Joanna Rowe, professor emeritus at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, who conducted the tests, said the results suggested a hitherto unexplored link between eye colour and academic achievement.
"It is just observed, rather than explained," she said. "There's no scientific answer yet." Dr Tony Fallone, senior psychology lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire, who has also studied eye colour, believes it should be taken more seriously as an indicator of personality and ability.
Yes, that's me and I have very blue eyes, but I prefer this reason for my brilliance...

Yes, there were heroes
The IDF's highest honor, the Medal of Valor, is to be granted to Maj. Ro’i Klein, who was killed in the line of duty on July 26, 2007, after jumping on a Hizbullah grenade to save his troops during the Second Lebanon War.
While fighting for control of the hostile village of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon, Klein and his men were ambushed by Hizbullah terrorists. Maj. Klein led a group of soldiers and tried to attack the terrorists from behind, but were obstructed by a wall. Klein then began treating one of the wounded, at which point a terrorist hurled a grenade at the group. Soldiers who survived the battle - eight did not - reported that Ro'i yelled out "Shma Yisrael…" and jumped upon the grenade, absorbing the brunt of the explosion and saving the men around him. A stunned silence overtook the men, and then one of them started shouting, "He jumped on the grenade! He jumped on the grenade!" Though mortally wounded, Klein tried to continue to communicate by radio to his superiors.
One of his fellow soldiers, Elad Ozeri, later said that shortly afterwards, when it was thought that Ro’i was dead, Capt. Itamar Katz, who took over the command, approached him. At that point, Klein - in his last act on earth - raised his arm and gave his coded radio device to Katz. "Maj. Klein always emphasized to us the importance of finding the coded devices of soldiers who were hurt," Ozeri said, "so that they would not fall into the hands of the enemy."
Klein actually saved his men twice in the same battle, Ozeri said: "At the beginning of the encounter, he saw a grenade that had been thrown, and was able to yell and warn the men in time."
The husband and father of two small boys and resident of the hilltop community of Harisha, Klein was an acknowledged Torah scholar, superb commander and an accomplished musician in civilian life. He was buried in Eli, the Samaria community in which he grew up, on what would have been his 31st birthday.
The Medal of Valor has been awarded only some 40 times in the history of the State, and the award to Klein will be the first in 34 years. The last recipient was Brig.-Gen. (res.) Avigdor Kahalani, who commanded Armored Battalion 77 during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
The least we can do for one who sacrificed his life in such a heroic manner is to tell his story. It is not clear why the media seems to have completely ignored this story. Perhaps it is about unpopular behavior, perhaps it does not meet the image of the suffering soldier, the sensitive and scared soldier image that someone is trying to encourage.
There is no fitting explanation for the hiding of such a grand heroic story at this, why it is not being told everywhere in loud clear cries, with great wonder, pride, thanks and admiration, with tears.
Rav Seren Roi Klein, alav hashalom, officer of the 51st unit of Golani (??), from the yishuv of Eli, was of the highest rank of the fighters in Binth J'Bail. During the battle, he noticed a hand grenade that was thrown in the direction of his men. Since it was no longer possible to protect themselves and prevent the injuries the grenade would produce, he crawled toward it so that his body would block most of the explosion and his men would be saved. His self-sacrifice had the desired effect. His soldiers who were saved told that he yelled "Shema Yisroel" as he leapt toward the grenade.
Roi Klein, a mythical hero in the time when people admire anti-heroes, was buried on his 31st birthday.
They say of him that he was an excellent saxophone player and a deeply spiritual person, that he completed his engineering studies with excellence, that he travelled with his friends in Africa, had a rolling laughter, that all of his acquaintances describe him as a gentle and peaceful man, that the request of his widow is that his children should resemble their father.
A real hero.
May his memory be for a blessing.

ASHLAND, Ky. - A man accused of being the "Duct Tape Bandit" has gotten into a sticky situation. The man, who had his head wrapped in duct tape to conceal his identity, walked into a liquor store on Friday, Ashland police said.
Shamrock Liquors store manager Bill Steele had some duct tape of his own, but his was wrapped around a wooden club that sent the robber fleeing, according to a report by WSAZ-TV in Huntington, W.Va.
Store employee Craig Miller said he chased the man to the parking lot, tackled him and held him in a choke hold until police arrived. A customer also helped, police said.
Kasey G. Kazee, 24, of Ashland, was charged with first-degree robbery, according to Ashland Police Sgt. Mark McDowell.
Kazee, in an interview with the TV station, denied he was the bandit who robbed the store of two rolls of change. He pleaded not guilty Monday and bond was set at $250,000.

Lake Worth men nabbed with pipe bombs
BOYNTON BEACH — Police arrested two men who were driving around with potentially deadly pipe bombs as well as gloves and masks in their car, authorities said.
Investigators found two of the devices in the car and later discovered a third pipe bomb and bombmaking materials in the suburban Lake Worth apartment shared by the suspects, Raymond Kramer, 22, and Aaron Spoerke, 21.
Spoerke admitted to making the bombs with Kramer and told police he likes to "throw them into canals and watch them explode." Police found no further evidence of what the men planned to do with the bombs, but federal authorities ruled out any kind of domestic terrorism.
The pipe bombs, each made of PVC piping, end caps, duct tape, a fuse and gunpowder, could have caused serious injury or death, authorities said.
Police found the bombs during a routine traffic stop.
Police also found masks, gloves, flashlights, two small knives and about 15-feet of PVC pipe. Investigators found the third bomb and materials when they got consent to search the suspects' apartment. All the men said they used the gloves and flashlights for work.
Dayum.
I could only find this reported in the Palm Beach Post linked above and the Sun-Sentinel. No one else is talking about it.

AMSTERDAM - A Roman Catholic Bishop in the Netherlands has proposed people of all faiths refer to God as Allah to foster understanding, stoking an already heated debate on religious tolerance in a country with one million Muslims.
"Allah is a very beautiful word for God. Shouldn't we all say that from now on we will name God Allah? ... What does God care what we call him? It is our problem."
A survey in the Netherlands' biggest-selling newspaper De Telegraaf on Wednesday found 92 percent of the more than 4,000 people polled disagreed with the bishop's view, which also drew ridicule.
Good thing he's about to retire, sounds like he's going senile.

RABAT (Reuters) - A suspected radical Islamist tried to blow up himself near a bus carrying tourists in the Moroccan city of Meknes on Monday but he detonated the gas cylinder he was carrying before reaching it, police sources said.
"The gas cylinder exploded some metres (yards) from the bus and badly injured the attacker," said one police source.
Another source said authorities suspected the bomber was a member of the radical Islamist Jihadia group.
Too bad he's still alive, but, on the bright side, hopefully he's in a lot of pain.

The pacifist toy soldiers are popping up in supermarkets, drug stores and other public places. Call it the Dada protest: It's driven by the hope that war, that most destructive of pursuits, can be halted by a sly creative genius just this side of the absurd.
The campaign, brought here by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation -- www.uumia.org -- near South Miami, begins its third week today. Already, church members have distributed dozens of soldiers across the county.

The Somali Bridge Collapse
Allowing such a thing to happen is just another insult to moslems:
"Instead of building bridges, they spent more on invading countries," said Abbi Osman, a young Somali who came to Minnesota four years ago and was watching buddies play dominoes Tuesday in a Somali coffee shop. "They are investing in the wrong places."
The collapse too adds to uneasy feelings among Somalis who say they have felt a federal backlash since Sept. 11, 2001 not only because of their Muslim faith but also because Somalia has been accused of harboring terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden. The bridge collapse has added jitters for Somalis who in recent years regrouped and rallied around one another.
For Somalis, who have migrated here in the last decade, the bridge was a vital lifeline connecting an established community on one side of the river with a growing Somali neighborhood on the other. Sometimes locals jokingly referred to it as "the Somali Bridge" – a lifeline for the 40,000 to 50,000 Somalis estimated by community leaders to be living in the Twin Cities and their suburbs
Somali cabbies used it. So did Somali truck drivers. At least two Somali drivers were on the bridge when it collapsed and got out alive. So did at least four Somali children who were on a school bus that fell downward in the disaster.
Sigh. There can be no doubt that the collapse of the "Somali Bridge" is the fault of George W. Bush and the part of the vast conspiracy to oppress moslems.

A voice cries out in the wilderness
DUTCH anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders has called for the Koran to be banned in the Netherlands, branding it a "fascist book" in the vein of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf which legitimises violence.
Writing in Dutch daily De Volkskrant, Wilders said: "Ban this wretched book just like Mein Kampf is banned. Send a signal ... to Islamists that the Koran can never, ever be used in our country as an excuse or inspiration for violence."
He has warned of a "tsunami of Islamisation" in a country home to 1 million Muslims, and has lived under heavy protection since receiving death threats from Islamist militants in 2004.
Mr Wilders said an attack over the weekend by two Moroccans and a Somali on a young Iranian-born politician who heads a Dutch group for "ex-Muslims" had spurred him to write.
"Allah sees the death penalty as fitting for those who no longer believe," Mr Wilders wrote today, adding this view had fuelled the attack on Jami, now under police protection.
The Muslim holy book should be banned from sale, from use in mosques and private households, Mr Wilders added.
Earlier this year, Wilders called for a vote of no-confidence in two Muslim government ministers next week, citing their dual nationality as the issue.
In an interview last February, Wilders said: "I do not want to live in a country where some day six or seven members of cabinet could be Muslim," adding that Islamic laws were "barbaric", referring to four people who were beheaded in Saudi-Arabia that week.
"I want to encourage Muslims to leave the Netherlands voluntarily. The demographic development should become such, that the chance is small that we again have two Muslims in the cabinet." About 1 million Muslims live in the Netherlands out of a population of 16 million.
Wilders has called on Muslims to ditch half the teachings in the Koran and said "If Muhammed lived here today, I would propose to chase him as extremist with tar and feathers out of the country".

Berkeley County police pulled over a vehicle in a routine traffic stop near Meyers Road and Highway 1-76 around 6 p.m. The vehicle with Florida tags was driven by two men of Middle Eastern descent. Inside police found explosive devices. Highway 1-76 near Goose Creek has since been shut down.
---------- Cannon said two men who were in the car were still at the scene at 2 a.m. An FBI agent said officials were trying to determine whether a crime had been committed.

The Broward County Penal system is keeping us safe:
It is a verdict likely to cause great consternation to lonely prisoners throughout the US penal system. A prisoner in Florida has been found guilty of indecent exposure for masturbating alone in his cell.
Terry Lee Alexander, 20, of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, was sentenced to a further 60 days in jail on top of the 10-year term he is currently serving for armed robbery, the Miami Herald reported yesterday.
Okay. Now consider this:
Were it not for this pending charge, Alexander would have moved to the state prison system months ago.
So what? Well...
Broward taxpayers have been footing the bill — $91.29 a day — to keep Alexander in the main jail while the indecent exposure case has worked its way to a trial date. The grand total for Alexander's incarceration in that case is nearly $21,000. On top of that, the public will pay $1,150 for his attorney.
Now, isn't that special?

On the first day of her Middle East tour, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday signed a joint statement with Egypt, Jordan and six Persian Gulf states, endorsing the 2002 Arab peace initiative as one of the foundations for Middle East peace. Visiting the region with Rice is Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
The initiative offers Israel normalized relations with all Arab countries in return for full withdrawal from the territory Israel captured in 1967.
Didn't waste any time at all, did you Condi? There is no need to play games and mouth platitudes anymore. Now we see what your goals are, as your plan, according to the definitive study by the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, will make Israel 'indefensible':
* A study by the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff in June 1967 concluded: “From a strictly military point of view Israel would require the retention of some captured Arab territory in order to provide militarily defensible borders … [including] control of the prominent high ground running north-south through the middle of West Jordan [Judea-Samaria],” as well as the entire Gaza Strip and the entire Golan Heights.
* Lt.-Gen. Thomas Kelly, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the 1991 Gulf War, said: “It is impossible to defend Jerusalem unless you hold that high ground [in Judea-Samaria]. I look out from those heights and look onto the West Bank and say to myself, ‘If I’m the chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, I cannot defend this land without that terrain.’” (Jerusalem Post, Nov.7, 1991)
Now that Fatah has given all its U.S. provided arms to its trojan horse, Hamas, the U.S. can re-arm Fatah with everything it needs to destroy Israel, with a little help from Iran and Syria. All that's left is to shrink Israel's borders, and hinder her ability to defend herself, and for that, well, the arabs know that only the Great Satan can accomplish that goal.
