Shabbat Shalom

Our Father in Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first manifestation of the approach of our redemption. Shield it with Your loving kindness, envelop it in Your peace, and bestow Your light and truth upon its leaders, ministers, and advisors, and grace them with Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of those who defend our holy land, grant them deliverance, and adorn them in a mantle of victory.

Ordain peace in the land and grant its inhabitants eternal happiness. Lead them, swiftly and upright, to Your city Zion and to Jerusalem, the abode of Your Name, as is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses: “Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the Lord your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.”

Draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah, and send us quickly the Messiah son of David, agent of Your vindication, to redeem those who await Your deliverance.

Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.

Amen

Post-Annapolis

These are the faces of 177 Jews, all of whom were murdered by palestinian terrorists after the terrorists were released from Israeli prisons in exchange for nothing, for the stupid, ineffective and meaningless negotiations with terrorists who want only to kill us.

and the insanity continues...

Proof positive that Annapolis was a success for those dedicated to killing Jews.

Illegal Voting

On November 28, 1872, a U.S. deputy marshall came to Susan B. Anthony's door and arrested her. The crime: on November 5, 1872, Susan B. Anthony cast her vote in the Presidential Elections. The charge: Illegal voting.

The Fourteenth Amendment, adopted in 1868, had declared that all people born in the United States were citizens and that no legal privileges could be denied to any citizen. Anthony decided to challenge this amendment. Saying that women were citizens and the amendment did not restrict the privilege of voting to men, she registered to vote in Rochester, New York, on November 1, 1872. Four days later, she and fifteen other women voted in the presidential election. All sixteen women were arrested, but only Anthony was brought before a court.

Her trial, United States v. Susan B. Anthony, began on June 17, 1873. The presiding judge opposed women's suffrage and wrote his decision before the trial even had started. Refusing to let Anthony testify, he ordered the jury to find her guilty, then sentenced her to pay a $100 fine. She refused to pay "a dollar of your unjust penalty," and no further action was taken against her.

Anthony spent the next fifty-plus years of her life fighting for the right to vote. She would work tirelessly: giving speeches, petitioning Congress and state legislatures, publishing a feminist newspaper--all for a cause that would not succeed until the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment fourteen years after her death in 1906.

-----

The right to vote.

On November 7, 2006, I voted a straight Republican ticket, despite my misgivings about the direction the Republican party has taken, despite the fact that it has abandoned every one of the conservative values that are the core of my political agenda. I cast my vote based on one issue, the War on Terrorism, despite the fact that I have seen this administration make concessions to and negotiate with terrorists. I did this because anything is better than the cut and run appeasement policy that the democrats stand for. I cast my vote for people who want to do things I am dead set against, such as pro-amnesty Charlie Crist, who, thanks to my vote, is now Governor of my state.

I was not alone in this and although I shared their feelings, I was horrified at the number of conservatives, and the number of republicans, who stayed home. None of the democrat wins were really big wins, races were decided by a few thousand votes, but in the end, it was a big win, and they won, because we stayed home. If you think your one vote doesn't matter, look at the numbers on the Webb/Steele race.

And now, I watch President George Bush fawn over the leader of the most active terrorist group in the world, all a flutter on the chance to reward them for their constant and continuous terror attacks with a state of their own, mapping out an appeasement strategy, even while their minions were busy killing innocents in Israel.

Either the entire world has gone crazy, or I have.

And now I'm supposed to believe that a stark raving liberal who believes that Americans have the wholesale right to kill babies and that they should be able to do so at the taxpayers' expense, a man who believes that I should pay for healthcare for criminals who sneak across the border, a man who believes in taking away my right to bear arms, is the great white hope for this Country and for the conservative movement. Sorry, but I don't believe it and I am already so damm sick of having Rudy shoved down my throat, what will next few months be like?

I owe something to people like Susan B. Anthony, who tirelessly and endlessly sacrificed for my right to vote, and I realize that the perfect candidate is not going to ride out of the sunrise on a white horse anytime soon. I know there will never, ever be a perfect candidate.

But how much compromising on my personal beliefs am I supposed to do?

I considered it last November, but now, for the first time ever, staying home truly seems like a viable option.

and I hate that!

Fabio. Yes, Fabio!

Believe it or not, he said this:

"The Israeli people have been the sacrificial lamb of history.”

And this:

“It’s about f****ing time [said as Fox News reported on Israel’s attempt to push Hezbollah out of Southern Lebanon]. ..[The Jews] have been getting killed for 5,000 years. Enough is enough. The rest of the world does not give a shit, except America, because the Israelis have no oil. Everyone sticks with those Arabs—because they have the oil.”

And this:

“We should f****ing get alternative energy and tell all the Arabs and the rest of the world to stick it up their ass. F*** them and the oil!”

And this:

“They are talking about Ahmadinejad coming to New York. I hate the bastard. He sponsors terrorists! The shitface …”

Dang! No wonder George Clooney hates him. Who'da thunk it?

Of course the Democrats support veterans

just not American Veterans!

A recent Veterans' Affairs Committee meeting took an unusual twist, ...

First, the Veterans' Committee took away benefits from some very deserving American veterans. Second, the committee gave benefits to veterans of another country who don't live in the United States, and never have lived in this country or been American citizens.

... the Filipino Veterans Equity Act of 2007 (H.R. 760)... will provide benefits to Filipino World War II veterans.

These veterans were members of the Philippines military. They fought in the Pacific Theater, presumably on behalf of their native country.

They are citizens of the Philippines and not U.S. citizens. While these Filipino troops may have fought bravely, side-by-side, with American soldiers, they should be looking to the Philippines for veterans' benefits.

If signed into law, it would provide full veterans' status to World War II era Filipino soldiers and even their survivors.

This would include pay for service related disabilities, survivor pay for service-connected deaths, as well as pensions and death benefits.

Those who are living in the Philippines, and are not U.S. citizens, would receive $6,000 to $8,400. Low-income widows would receive $3,600.

Oh... but there's more. Of course, there's more.

Because of House PAYGO rules, any new entitlement spending (such as the Filipino Veterans Equity Act) must be funded by either a corresponding cut in existing spending or matching revenue gains.

In this case, the Democrats on the Veterans Committee voted to save nearly $1 billion by eliminating a $2,200 special monthly payment to veterans who are less than 100 percent disabled, but 60 percent or greater disabled.

We can stop this thing. If you care about our Veterans, the time to raise your voice is now, while this atrocity is still in Committee. Click here, call, email, fax the Committee members.

You can also thank VA Committee Chairman Bob Filner, D-California for sponsoring this outrage. Phone: (202) 225-8045; Fax: (202) 225-9073.

Spread the word!

Ron Paul! Ron Paul! Ron Paul!

In case you were wondering who would be elected if the entire world had a say in the election of the President of the United States, well... here's your answer:

As you can see, nearly each and every country throughout the world would vote for Ron Paul if they could. He's leading with 36,629 votes (including mine, which I put as coming from Zimbabwe), Obama is in second place and far behind with only 14,844 votes (including mine, which I put as coming from Armenia).

Now, before you go all "doubting Thomas" on me, well, surely you must be aware that Afghanistanis are diehard Ron Paul supporters, along with Albania, Algeria and Andora; Barbuda, Australia and Austria; Azerbaijan, Bahamas and Bermuda; Brazil, and Cambodia!

Canada is big on Ron Paul baby, and so is the Cayman Islands and Columbia; Costa Rica, Croatia and Cuba.

Cyprus loves him, as does the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador! Egypt would elect Ron Paul, so would El Savador, Estonia, and the EU too! Fiji and Finland are in Ron's camp.

France is going for Kucinich but no one listens to them anyway!

French Polensia coughed up two votes for Ron Paul, and Germany well, Germany loves Ron Paul, so does Gibraltor, Guam, Guatemala and Guyana! Hungarians are with Ron Paul and so are the Iranians and the Iraqis!

Never mind the fact that Ron Paul wants to cut off their aid and abandon them to their enemies, Israelis still voted for Ron Paul, and hey, whaddya know, so did the Palestinians! Can you see a Ron Paul Presidency causing peace in the Middle East?

Japan and Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, and Korea, Latvia and Lebanaon, even Lichenstein is voting for Ron Paul! Luxenburg, Malasia and Maldives, Malta and Mexico too!

One lonely soul in Micronesia has a Ron Paul sign in his yard, there are three in Moldova and two in Monaco! Namibia likes Ron Paul, so does the Netherlands, Nicaragua is voting Ron Paul and so is Norway!

Pakistan is with Ron Paul, Panama is with Ron Paul, Papua New Guinea and Paraguay; the Phillipines, Poland and Portugal are all with Ron Paul.

Russia is going with Kucinich, but Somoa, San Marino, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles and yes, even Saudi Arabia are going with Ron Paul, as is Sierra Leone and Slovenia, Sri Lanka and the Sudan!

Sweden and Switzerland both love Ron Paul, so does Syria, Tawain and Thailand, Togo, Tunisia and the Ukraine, the UK, Uraguay, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Venezuela (look out Hugo Chavez) and Viet Nam. The Virgin Islands, Wallis and Furtuna Islands, Yemen and Zambia, they're all voting for Ron Paul, so are Zambia and Zimbabwe!

Ron Paul is the President of choice not only for the United States, but for the entire world!

so... there you have it people, might as well surrender to the inevitable, Ron Paul will be the next President of the United States.

You know its true, because you read it right here on the internet!

Flashback to Innocence

Today, we turn back the clock to a time of innocence, when Americans believed they could somehow survive a nuclear attack on our country, to a time when children and adults practiced "Duck and Cover" for safety, coached by Burt the Turtle.

I got a little teary-eyed watching children dive under their school desks, dive into doorways and dive off their bikes to curl up against the curb, secure in the belief that "Duck and Cover" could help you survive a nuclear bomb. How amazing that at the same, they all had the jaded acceptance and recognition of the very real threat to our country, and our lives.

How times have changed.

Today, we are not as innocent as we were in the 50s, we know that Duck and Cover ain't gonna work and if the bomb comes, you put your head between your knees and kiss your butt goodbye.

Today, our enemies are not the commies across the pond, our enemies are the followers of islam, and they are everywhere, even here. and, despite a nuclear Iran chanting death to America, far too many of us believe that we need not fear the flash.

We are not as innocent as we were in the 50s, but G-d help us, we are certainy not as smart either.

Getting Older, Yes I am

18 November

I wish to know the secrets
that are shared amongst the trees
the nonsense that is whispered
as the wind slips through the leaves
talk of days that have long past
and of the days to come
if such knowledge were mine to know
then together, with the wind, I'd run.

I long to raise my voice into the wind
let it carry on the breeze
to find my one and only love
let the hurt, at last, be eased
I fear the passage of my days
I fear this song will remain unsung
alas, tomorrow I'll be older
but today, I am still young.

Dark Prince of Islam Redux

The best kept non-secret of Britain's Royal Family used to be their animosity towards the Jewish people and the State of Israel. They try to bury it, but as my father used to say... shit floats:

Senior aides to Britain’s Prince Charles said there is “no chance” the prince would ever visit Israel as such a visit would boost Israel’s international image. The aides wrote the comments, in August e-mails, after outgoing Israeli ambassador to Britain Zvi Heifetz extended an invitation to the prince via principal private secretary Sir Michael Peat and deputy private secretary Clive Alderton.

In e-mails to be published today in London by The Jewish Chronicle, Peat politely thanked Heifetz and said the prince “would love to come.” However, in a later e-mail Alderton sent to Peat, he complained that he was “being pursued.”

Alderton asked is it “safe to assume there is no chance of this visit ever actually happening?” Alderton noted, “Acceptance would make it hard to avoid the many ways in which Israel would want HRH [Prince Charles] to help burnish its international image. In which case, let’s agree a way to lower its expectations.”

Now... the best kept non-secret of the British Royal Family is its admiration and adulation of islam:

ISLAMABAD, Oct 31 (KUNA) -- Prince Charles Tuesday said that the world problems could be resolve by following Islamic teachings, as Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood.

He said that clash of civilizations could be averted by following the teaching of Islam and Quraan.

This is, of course, the same Prince Charles who received an Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Award in 2005 for his contribution to understanding Islam, and who traveled to America, to defend and promote Islam, and to encourage America to "share his fondness for Islam."

Prince Charles, Champion of Islam

The Prince wants us to "share his fondness for Islam?" Yeah well, piss off Prince. I have no fondness for terrorists and I have no desire to revert to the 7th century either.

Let me tell you what terrorism is.

Terrorism is the the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion, the use of violence (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands.

Prince Charles obviously views terrorists as "freedom fighters" and/or "militants" fighting oppression. Well Prince, why don't you tell that to the children of Beslan. Tell that to the teenagers in Israel blown up in a disco or a pizza parlor. Tell that to the 2,996 who died on 9/11, and the hundreds killed on a train in Spain. Tell that to the hundreds of Iraqis who were blown up in the street this year, oh, and the hundreds of your countrymen who died in the name of Islam.

The United States of America has done more to promote freedom throughout the world than any other country. We have sacrificed more and given more of ourselves, our people, our money and our time to stand up for freedom throughout the world. We will continue to do so, and we will never share your "fondness" for the monsters who killed those children in Beslan, who blew up the trains in Spain, who bomb pizzarias and buses in Israel, who flew planes into the WTC, and yes, who blew up your countrymen on July 11, 2005. These are the same people who are blowing up innocent Iraqis even as they try to rebuild their lives after Saddam.

Albert Einstein once said: "The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

The world is a dangerous place also because of the people who don't do evil but who make it easier for others to do it.

And that includes you Prince Charles, that includes you.

So. They have their secrets

But not for long...

Its Pallywood.

The Al-Durah hoax:

click

and... Icon of Hatred.

Melanie Phillips reports from a courtroom in France, where she witnessed the showing of the missing and long disputed 27 minutes of footage concerning the "death" of Mohammed Al-Durah at the hands of the evil Israelis.

Well, sort of. What it actually produced was 18 minutes out of the 27 it was required to bring forward. From this footage, which according to France 2’s Palestinian cameraman was filmed during an implausible 45 minutes of continuous shooting by Israeli soldiers, there is no evidence that anyone at all was killed or injured -- including Mohammed al Durah who by the end of the frames in which he figured seemed to be still very much alive and unmarked by any wound whatsoever.

The drama of today’s hearing was enhanced by the appearance of Enderlin himself, who until today had not graced this case with his presence. As the film was shown to a packed and overheated (in every sense) courtroom, Enderlin and Karsenty offered rival interpretations of the images on the screen. If Enderlin thought he would thus demonstrate the inadequacy of Karsenty’s case, he was very much mistaken. On the contrary, parts of his commentary were so absurd that the courtroom several times burst into incredulous laughter.

Enderlin offered only a vague, rambling and unconvincing explanation of why he had only produced 18 minutes of footage rather than the 27 he claimed to have received from his cameraman in Gaza (Enderlin himself was not in Gaza when these events occurred). After the hearing Professor Richard Landes, one of the people who had already seen the contested footage, said that two scenes had been cut out which clearly showed that the violence had been staged -- including one in which a Palestinian preparing to throw a missile is suddenly picked up and carried into an ambulance despite showing no signs of injury. This scene, said Landes, was filmed by Reuters, who actually filmed the France 2 cameraman filming it. Yet there was no sign of it today.

But wait! There's more:

What struck me very forcibly about the 18 minutes overall was that, although this was supposed to have been filmed during continuous firing by the Israelis for 45 minutes, much of the footage consisted merely of a violent demonstration by stone throwing youths, many of whom who appeared to be enjoying the exercise. One child was pictured riding a bicycle through the melee. There was no evidence of any of them being killed or injured. From time to time, to be sure, youths were dragged onto stretchers and into ambulances – but there was no sign of anyone actually being shot, no-one falling under fire, no sign of any blood or injuries whatever. The nearest it got to an injury was a sequence in which a young man coyly pulled his shirt open a little to provide a glimpse of a neat red circle on his stomach, which he claimed was a (rubber?) bullet wound. But since he appeared to be in no pain whatever and was grinning throughout his turn for the camera, this seemed an eminently implausible way for someone who had just been hit by gunfire to behave.

and...

When it came to the footage of the ‘killing’ of Mohammed al Durah, the following stood out:

* This sequence was not a continuous narrative but was repeatedly broken up and spliced onto footage of other scenes from the demonstration

* Although the France 2 cameraman had told a German film-maker, Esther Shapira, that he had filmed six minutes of the al Durah father and son under continuous Israeli fire, the footage of them lasted for less than one minute

* There was a camera tripod next to them

* There was no evidence of the boy actually being hit

* At one point, people in the crowd cried out that the boy was dead, while he was sitting up large as life clinging onto his father with his mouth wide open

* After he was said to be dead, he moved his arm (the sequence I have already reported which has been available on the web for years).

The man behind the Al Durah hoax, Talal abu Rahma, claimed "I am the journalist, I decide what's important." Now, many years and many deaths later, the truth becomes important.

FBI = Fooled by Islam

Nada Nadim Prouty, just another illegal immigrant, doing the spying that Americans won't do:

Nada Nadim Prouty, a 37-year-old Lebanese national and resident of Vienna, Va., pleaded guilty today in the Eastern District of Michigan to charges of fraudulently obtaining U.S. citizenship, which she later used to gain employment at the FBI and CIA; accessing a federal computer system to unlawfully query information about her relatives and the terrorist organization Hizballah; and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

According to documents filed in court by the government, Prouty first entered the United States from Lebanon on June 24, 1989, on a one-year, non-immigrant student visa. After her visa expired, she remained in the country, residing in Taylor, Mich., with her sister, Elfat El Aouar, and an individual named Samar Khalil Nabbouth. In order to remain in the United States and evade U.S. immigration laws, Prouty later offered money to an unemployed U.S. citizen to marry her. On August 9, 1990, Prouty married the U.S. citizen. As planned, Prouty never lived with her fraudulent “husband,” but continued to live with her sister and Nabbouth.

Prouty later submitted a series of false, fraudulent and forged documents and letters to federal immigration officials to verify the validity of the fraudulent marriage in order to obtain permanent residency status, and, later, U.S. citizenship, thereby committing naturalization fraud. On Aug. 5, 1994, the former Immigration and Naturalization Service granted Prouty U.S. citizenship under the name “Nada Nadim Deladurantaye.” The following year, she filed for a divorce from her fraudulent husband, and later obtained a U.S. passport, which she used to travel overseas.

In April 1999, through a series of false representations and use of her fraudulently procured proof of U.S. citizenship, Prouty, then known as “Nada Nadim Alley,” obtained employment as a special agent of the FBI. It was a prerequisite to FBI employment that she be a U.S. citizen. As a special agent with the FBI, Prouty was granted a security clearance and assigned to the FBI’s Washington Field Office to work on an extraterritorial squad investigating crimes against U.S. persons overseas. During her tenure with the FBI, Prouty was not assigned to work on investigations involving the international terrorist group Hizballah.

In August 2000, Prouty’s sister, Elfat El Aouar, entered into a marriage with Talal Khalil Chahine, the owner of La Shish Inc. In September 2000, Prouty, while employed as an FBI special agent, used the FBI’s computerized Automated Case System (ACS), without authorization, to query her own name, her sister’s name, and that of her brother-in-law, Talal Khalil Chahine. In addition, on or about June 4, 2003, Prouty accessed the FBI’s ACS and obtained information from a national security investigation into Hizballah that was being conducted by the FBI’s Detroit Field Office.

According to court documents, in August 2002, Prouty’s sister, Elfat El Aouar, and her brother-in-law, Talal Khalil Chahine, attended a fundraising event in Lebanon where the keynote speakers were Chahine himself and Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah. Sheikh Fadlallah had previously been designated by the U.S. government as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist based upon his status as a leading ideological figure with Hizballah.

In June 2003, through a series of false representations and use of her fraudulently procured proof of U.S. citizenship, Prouty, then known as “Nada Nadim Prouty,” voluntarily left her position with the FBI and obtained employment with the CIA. It was also a prerequisite to CIA employment that she be a U.S. citizen.

--------

That's the story, according to the press release issued by the Department of Justice. How could such a thing happen? According to this article by CBS...

"She had a complete, full investigation," Kodak said, referring to the FBI's background check on Prouty before she was hired.

Oh well. I feel much better. After all, the FBI is completely trustworthy. Don't believe me? Just ask the CIA:

"The CIA may have been a little too trusting of the FBI's ability to do a background check, as the bureau's own pre-employment investigation of Prouty would have covered her first years in country," the official said. "That won't happen again."

According to mainstream media outlet CBS...

While officials say there is no evidence of actual espionage and no evidence that she was working as a spy, she is accused of passing information to sympathizers of Hezbollah, a group the US has labeled a terrorist organization.

No evidence of actual espionage? Okay then. According to the Detroit News:

One of the allegations against Prouty is that while an FBI agent she went into a computer system
without authorization in 2003 and obtained information about the Detroit's FBI office's investigation of Hezbollah.

Hezbollah, also known as the "Party of God," is an Islamic militant group based in Lebanon that has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. government since 1997.

Hezbollah, in addition to attacks on Israel, were blamed for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. embassy and Marine barracks in Lebanon, which killed 258 Americans.

The Shiite group has financial ties and other links with Iran.

No evidence of actual espionage? Prouty entered this country illegally, she lied and manipulated her way first into the FBI, and then into the CIA. Her family members are linked to a terrorist entity, Hezbollah, and her unauthorized computer searches concerned her family members and Hezbollah, and she took that classified information home with her and passed that information into the hands of a terrorist entity which is actively working to destroy America.

I guess it all depends on what your definition of "espionage" is.

Hat tip to Bloggie, who gave us the DOJ Press Release and sent my blood pressure through the roof.

remember... there is no terrorist threat.

You're perfectly safe. Don't you feel safe?

Meet Samina Malik

a/k/a the Lyrical Terrorist:

Samina Malik, who liked to call herself a "lyrical terrorist", called for attacks on the West and described "poisoned bullets" capable of killing an entire street in her poetry.

The 23-year-old Muslim wrote of her desire to become a martyr and listed her favourite videos as the "beheading ones".

Described as a "committed Islamic extremist", Malik, a shop assistant at Heathrow, hoarded an extensive collection of terrorism manuals, the Old Bailey heard.

She was a member of an extremist group linked to Omar Bakri Mohammed, a hate preacher who fled to Lebanon from Britain two years ago.

Yesterday a jury found her guilty of possessing documents likely to be used for terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000, by a majority of ten to one, after deliberating for 19 hours.

Malik, who wore a black head scarf, wept as the verdict was read out.

Jonathan Sharp, prosecuting, told the court the defendant liked to be known as the "lyrical terrorist" or "a stranger awaiting martyrdom".

"She is a committed Islamic extremist, who supports terrorism and terrorists.

"She had a library of material that she had collected for terrorist purposes.

"That collection would be extremely useful for someone planning terrorist activity."

The court heard how police raided her home in Southall, West London, after an email from her was found on the computer of a terror suspect in October last year.

She had a profile on the social networking website Hi-5, where she called for the execution of "depraved" Westerners .

The British-born Muslim listed her interests as helping the Mujahideen "in any way I can".

She also wrote of how she enjoyed video messages from Osama Bin Laden and "videos that showed massacres of the kuffars", or non-Muslims.

Just another moderate moslem, and remember... there is no terrorist threat. I'm sure you'll be glad to know that after she was found guilty, Judge Peter Beaumont told Malik that she was an enigma and then, he set her free on bail pending sentencing.

Nothing to see here but a really lousy poet, eh?

Thank You!

"A man must know his destiny… if he does not recognize it, then he is lost. By this I mean, once, twice, or at the very most, three times, fate will reach out and tap a man on the shoulder… if he has the imagination, he will turn around and fate will point out to him what fork in the road he should take, if he has the guts, he will take it." - General George S. Patton, Jr.

Veterans' Day will come and go
Quicker than the blink of an eye
But memories of heroes present and past
Will never, ever die.
The youth of today, do you understand?
The price brave men did pay
To preserve the freedom we enjoy
Each and every day.

They were called to duty, and so they went
Not knowing what was to be
Many came home, some never did
They sacrificed so we could be free.

How lonely some must have felt
How scared some had to be
They paid the bill with their own blood
What a great cost to be free.

The heroes of our country
Are the ones who paved the way
For freedom and the many rights
That we enjoy today.

Next time, young folks, you pass someone
Who may be old and gray
Remember — thanks to him or her
You have your freedom today.

Support our President, support our troops
Support our country, too
As they go fighting for what is right
For freedom the price is due.

by Holly Rulli

November 11 is also General Patton's Birthday, but we never seem to remember that. Below is the famous "Patton Prayer" sent to the men of the Third Army December 8, 1944:

"Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen."

Amen.

Today is the last day of the Valour-IT Fundraise and yes, the Marines Team is still doing well...

November 10, 2007

Happy Birthday!

'Twas winter time in Quantico in nineteen-twenty-two,
The slum was pretty rough that night, and all the men felt blue;
The hail and sleet, with ghostly feet beat on the bunkhouse dome,
Some men doped out their time to do, while others thought of home.

Then from the starless night, there slipped in through the bunkhouse door,
An old top sergeant that no man had ever seen before;
The hoar frost glistened in his hair, his eyes like star shells shone,
A gnarled mustache hid half his face, and he was skin and bone.

He sat down near the glowing stove and warmed his fleshless hands,
The chill of death was in his breath, like thunder his commands;
His voice was hollow, like the tone of one who’d long been dead,
And when he spoke, the silence broke, and this is what he said:

“Pipe down, all you devil-whelps, and snap out of your dreams,
And a tale I’ll tell of heaven and hell, and the Devil-Dog Marines;
Just Captain Jimmy Bones, M.C., their skipper wrote his name,
He was a fiend for fighting, he had no care for fame.”

“Have never seen so fierce a man on land, nor sky , nor sea,
He had a scar for every war, and fought in ninety-three;
When he was riled, he had an eye that drilled a hole through men,
He spoke but once, and no man asked him how, nor why, nor when.”

“Now Jimmy was the headpiece of a hundred brave Gyrenes,
He used to have a whole lot more who died from eating beans;
But them what ate the chow and lived, they sure were hard-boiled guys,
They flicked the bullets off their coats just like so many flies.”

The old top sergeant’s voice grew low, and at its ghostly gloom,
Men shivered, and the vermin crawled upon the bunkhouse broom;
He stuffed a live coal in his pipe, and deeply did inhale,
He blew the smoke clean through the roof, and then resumed his tale.

“They say the devil made him mean when he was in the skies,
And filled them all so full of hell it shone out through their eyes;
Then old St. Peter found the bunch, and gave them souls of white,
But hell still boiled up in them, and they couldn’t else but fight.”

“So Peter had to can old Nick, and when to earth he fell,
He got himself a steady job recruiting souls for hell;
Well, Peter stamped Marines ‘OK,’ and marked them all first class,
‘Cause all that ever scared ‘em was to see a looking-glass.”

“Now some they come from Texas sand, so they was full of grit,
And some was from Montana plains where they’d been roughing it;
Some more they come from old New York, and wore a Bowery frown,
Then some which was the toughest came from good old Frisco town.”

"Old Jimmy Bones shoved off for France in nineteen-seventeen,
And shipped across the toughest crew the world had ever seen;
Each man had ‘First to Fight,’ tattooed across his chest, in black,
And right betwixt his shoulder blades, ‘Watch out, we’re coming back!’”

“Them hundred Devil Dogs sure was a bold and daring crew,
They bit the soles right off their shoes whenever they’d want a chew;
There wasn’t one among that bunch of those U.S. Marines
Who couldn’t spit three fathoms deep, and sink three submarines.”

“And when it came to shooting guns, why, say, them men were there,
They’d shave a man a mile away, and never miss a hair;
They’d trim the eyebrows off a lark, a- soarin’ in the sky,
Or shoot the points off shooting stars, as long as they had an eye.”

“They cruised on all the seven seas and rationed on hard tack,
They fought their way around the world and half to hell and back;
They fought in every war there was, clean up to Vera Cruz,
The only things they hadn’t fought was huns, and too much booze.”

“Now Jimmie Bones reached France OK with that all-furious crew,
And everyone turned round to say, ‘No savvy parley-vous;’
The French girls grabbed them by their hands, and washed their necks with tears,
The French men slapped them on their backs, and yelled them deaf with cheers.”

"Then Jimmy made a speech, and said, ‘I hear you got a war,
Around here somewheres hereabout, and that’s what we’re here for;
But all I got to say is this. Enjoy it while you can,
I’m going to clean up Germany If I lose every man."

“The Germans learned that Jimmie Bones had crossed the sea to fight,
And when they got that awful news, their feet turned cold with fright;
And when they lamped that roughneck crew from off an aeroplane,
It nearly knocked ‘em for a goal, and some went plumb insane.”

“Said they, ‘What is this thing, Marines? If they had said before,
They had such Devil Dogs as these, there wouldn’t be no war;’
So that is how they got their name of ‘Devil Dog’ Marines,
And ever since, they’ve chased the Dutch dachshund clean off the scenes.”

The old top sergeant rolled his eyes, as if to recollect,
And where he let his fierce glance fall, it scorched six feet of deck;
Said he, “No man has ever lived that crossed old Jimmy Bones,
He had the power that lifted men, Or dragged kings down from thrones.”

"A general of the allies looked out through his periscope,
And seen ten million German huns a-coming on the lope;
He bit his short mustache and said, ‘We’re in an awful stew,
We’ve only got a million men. It looks like they’ll break through.’”

“Then, Jimmy Bones piped up and said, ‘You didn’t count Marines,
I’ve got some hell-dogs that’ll chew the spikes right off their beans;
‘Cause numbers don’t mean nothing to my well-behaving crew,
Why, they ain’t been to school enough to count the men they slew.’”

“The general said, ‘You win, my man. Go take your wild Marines,
And form a scouting party just to double up the scenes;’
Then Jimmy Bones saluted stiff, and to the general said,
‘We’ll break through to Berlin, sir, If we don’t, we’ll come back dead.’”

“With that, he yelled, ‘Outside, Marines, and snap out of your hop,
We’re going out to gather up that German lemon crop;
And if I see one of you men so much as leave a rind,
You’ll rate the brig ‘till kingdom come, and sixty dollars fine.’”

“The hundred Devil Dogs fell out, and then they all fell in,
And each one closed a gap in ranks by shaving up his chin;
The chief cook turned up missing when the time for counting come,
But he was cooking shrapnel up to make the crew some slum.”

“Then Jimmy Bones, he gave a talk, to all his men, he said,
‘We’re shipping out on heavy seas with reefs and shoals ahead;
But all I got to say is this, remember you’re Marines,
Cause water settles everything, and that’s what our name means.”

"He marched ‘em up on company front, in quick and double-time,
He marched ‘em in a riot squad and in a skirmish line;
He ran ‘em in a platoon rush, and then by single squad;
And each advance ten thousand huns stretched out and hit the sod.”

"He mowed ‘em down with Browning guns, and with their Springfield gats,
And them they couldn’t get that way they stuck with bayonets;
And when it came to trenches they just shoved the banks all in,
And tons of huns were swallowed up, and never lived again.”

“The Germans shot a bunch of bombs of dead limburger cheese,
But all it did to Jimmy’s men was make them cough and sneeze;
Then Jimmy lit a strong cigar from off a passing shell,
Three million huns got one good whiff, and died of that vile smell.”

“The hundred Devil Dogs shoved on, their eyes flashed liquid fire,
Which melted guns and cannons up just like they were lead wire;
They kicked about a million huns into the River Marne,
And if they drowned, or sunk, or swam, they didn’t give a darn.”

“The Germans thought that judgment day had come to take its tolls,
They got the jula in their knees, and trembled in their souls;
And when they saw those Devil Dogs, and heard their awful yell,
They knew their judgment day had come, and they were picked for hell.”

“So, what was left threw up their mitts, and hollered ‘kamerad,’
But Jimmy’s men thought that was Dutch for talk profaning God;
So they stuck their bayonets right through them anyhow,
And buzzards came down from the sky and ate ‘em up for chow.”

“Now Kaiser bill and Hindenburg was in a game of craps,
He staked his royal crown against a box of ginger snaps;
Old Hindy won the crown and said, ‘This ain’t no good to me,
I’d sooner have a bite to eat than all of Germany’”

“Said Kaiser Bill, ‘I’ll tell you what. You lend ten marks to me,
I’ll pay you back in a month or two with French indemnity.’
Said Hindy, ‘Where’d you get that stuff. Do you see any green on me?
I bought myself some Liberty Bonds from Mrs. Liberty.’”

“Just then the crown prince busted in and said, ‘Oh papa dear;
I see some wild men coming who will wreck this joint, I fear;
I’ll shoot a long-range shot at them, and if they still persist,
Then I’ll take about a million men and slap them on the wrist.’”

“The Kaiser took a peek out from a half-raised window blind,
And seen a hundred Devil Dogs a-swimming across the Rhine;
The river was a-running blood, From all the men they slew,
And every time they’d duck their heads, they’d drink a quart or two.”

“The Kaiser’s hair stood up on end and turned from black to white,
And when he spied old Jimmy Bones, his blood ran cold with fright;
He grabbed the prince’s hand and said, ‘Don’t fool with that wild Yank,
He’ll fill you full of bullet holes where Papa used to spank.’”

“‘What ho the guard!’ Cried Kaiser Bill. ‘There ain't no guard no more,’
Said Hindenburg, ‘The guard was shot out there by the palace door;’
‘Where is my ally Gott?’ yelled Bill. 'Von Gott, he ain’t at home,’
Said Hindenburg, ‘The Gott you had was in your crazy dome.’”

“The Kaiser’s eyes stuck out a mile. ‘What shall I do?’ said he,
‘I’ll save myself and my six brave sons. To hell with Germany;’
Said Hindenburg, ‘It went to hell long time before this thing,
Ten million huns that you sent there are waiting for their king.’”

“The outside palace door crashed in. There was a mighty roar,
‘Thank gott,” said Hindenburg, ‘I’ll see that mush of yours no more;’
With that he grabbed his gat and blew the brains out of his head,
And Kaiser Bill knowed then and there he meant just what he said.”

“The Kaiser beat it for the door and flung it open wide,
And there he met Jimmy Bones a’coming just outside;
Behind him were his Devil Dogs with gleaming bayonets,
And Kaiser Bill knowed they had come to get a whole world’s bets.”

“Then Jimmy gave him just one look that turned his gizzard pale,
And made him wish that he had spent his life in some nice jail;
Said Jimmie Bones, ‘So you’re the cur that kicked up all this row,
You’ve got about an hour to live, so don’t give us no gow!’”

“The Kaiser’s nerve went over the hill. His brow dripped bloody sweat,
He got down on his knees and cried and got the carpet wet;
His teeth, they rattled, just like dice do in a game of craps,
And every word that Jimmy spoke was like a note of taps.”

“Then Jimmy Bones drawed out his gat, and then he tossed it by,
Said, ‘you ain’t fit enough to live, and not that fit to die;
You’ve served the devil all your life, but now you’ll work for me,’
And then he thought of things to do. Jim Bones can think of three.”

“‘You’ll stand a guard of twenty hours around the Arctic zones,
With fifteen minutes out to thaw the marrow in your bones;
And every hour throughout the night you’ll answer reveille,
And every twenty years or so, you’ll rate a liberty.’”

“‘And all you’ll have to drink is German blood you’ve shed,
And when you’re hungry, you will gnaw the bones of German dead;
You’ll do a jolt in eighty-four for ten or twenty years,
And under a hard-boiled non-com you’ll shed your dying tears.’”

“Then Jimmy stopped, and silence filled the gloomy castle hall,
The Kaiser rose and tried to speak, then fell against the wall;
Said he, ‘I thought the devil was a mean and ugly guy,
But you’ve got Satan cheated with one look out of your eye.’”

“Said Jimmy Bones, ‘Now that ain’t all I’m gonna leave you do,
Them things is just light duty, but there’s heavy duty too!’
The Kaiser throwed up both his mitts. ‘You win!’ That’s all he said,
He gave a yell that was heard in hell, and then fell over dead.”

The old top sergeant paused awhile to see if some would doubt,
He sneezed a sneeze, the stoves grew cold, the window panes fell out;
He rolled himself a cigarette from sweepings off the floor,
And lit it with his flaming eye, and then resumed once more.

“Now German spies sent work to France that Jimmy Bones was dead,
And all his hundred Devil Dogs was slaughtered too, they said;
The women weeped a lot of weeps. The men felt pretty bad,
And all of them were mourning cause the shock it hit ‘em bad.”

“The cook was boiling coffee up from a piece of dried-out meat,
Said he, ‘If they is dead or not they’ll be back here to eat;
The world has never seen the time Marines have met defeat,
They would have gone to hell to cut off Kaiser Bill’s retreat.’”

“A sentry sighted Jimmy’s men a’coming over the hill,
And dragging on behind them what was left of Kaiser Bill;
And when they reached old Paris, they were met with yells and cheers,
And showers of gold enough to last ‘em all a thousand years.”

“They hung a million medals on old Jimmy and his crew,
And when they took ‘em off they had a barrel full or two;
And ever after that each lived just like a millionaire,
They never answered reveille, or heard a bugle blare.”

“And all they did was bunk fatigue from then, forever more,
And when they died, they went above and knocked on heaven’s door;
Old Peter came down to the porch and hollered, ‘Halt! Who’s there?’
“United States Marines,” said Jim. First here, and everywhere’”

"So Peter let the whole bunch in along with Captain Jim,
And each one grabbed himself a harp, and sung the Marine hymn;
And ever after that each stood his guard on heaven’s green,
And nary a German has got past the brave U.S. Marine.”

The old top sergeant heaved a sigh that raised the bunkhouse roof,
And those who sat too close to him were blown ten feet aloof;
He cut the sling from off a gun and took a three-foot chew,
And where he spat, the floor gave way, and hell came boiling through.

Then from the fiery pit there rose a corporal of the guard,
His face was sunk, his flesh was iron, his look was twice as hard;
Said he, “The detail’s still intact around the brimstone floods,
The devil’s peeling onions and the Kaiser’s peeling spuds.”

The old top kicker knit his brow, said he, “All right, that’s well!
But when you’ve finished with that job they’ll start to coal up hell;
And if them billion tons ain’t in before they shut an eye,
I’ll run ‘em up ‘fore Jimmy Bones, and let them tell him why.”

The corporal turned and leaped head on down through that fiery mass,
The floor closed up, the bunkhouse swayed with clouds of molten mass.
The top arose, the lights went out, Taps sounded, came the rain,
A chill swept through the room and he was never seen again.

A true Marine Corps classic, “Captain Jimmy Bones And His Devil-Dog Marines” originally appeared in an early forties edition of “Leatherneck Magazine."

Now... what better way to say Thank you...

Amen

Just for the Fun of it!

We see you for what you are

Special thanks to one of my readers, Lisa, who pointed me to this story via email:

BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - Barack Obama complained on Wednesday about an Internet photo that claims the Democratic presidential candidate didn't hold his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.

"This is so irritating," Obama said when asked about the photo in Muscatine, Iowa.

The photo, which has circulated widely on the Internet, was taken in September during Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin's annual Democratic fundraiser. A message accompanying the photo claims Obama didn't observe the pledge.

Obama said the photo was taken during the singing of the national anthem, not the pledge.

Yeah well. Read the United States Code Obama, and specifically, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171:

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart.

The man who would be president. Bah!

On this day

in 1874, this cartoon by Thomas Nast appeared in Harper's Weekly:

Titled “The Third Term Panic,” the cartoon commented on fears that Grant would run for a third term as President which led some Republicans to vote with the Democrats.

Although the first use of an elephant by the Republican Party is believed to date from a printer’s cut (pre-made pictures kept ready to use as illustrations when needed) of an elephant used by an Illinois newspaper during Abraham Lincoln’s 1860 presidential campaign, this appearance is considered the first important use of an elephant as a symbol for the United States Republican Party. Nast continued using the elephant thereafter, and gradually it became the Republican icon as it was adopted by other cartoonists.

The elephant has been a symbol of strength since Roman times. Thomas Nast was a staunch Republican, and he deliberately chose the elephant as a symbol for his own Party because of the animal’s great size, intelligence, strength, and dignity.

Telling it like it is

Here's a UN moment, via IsraellyCool...

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Dan Gillerman on Tuesday slammed the UN Human Rights Council, saying that its “ritualistic and virulent campaign against Israel is abhorrent and intolerable.

“Equally troubling is the Council’s resulting disregard for serious human rights violations in many other parts of the world, including among its own members,” Gillerman added in his speech.

The Israeli ambassador accused the council of having a specific section in its guidelines meant to examine “the state of human rights in Palestine and the other occupied Arab territories”.

Israel contends that the wording of the guidelines completely excludes any deliberation on grave human rights violation in other countries around the world.

Gillerman accused the Commission on Human Rights of “moral bankruptcy”. He noted that “after all, the Council’s membership includes some countries whose own records on human rights fall markedly below the standards of the international community, and who cannot genuinely serve as a beacon for human rights when their respective performances are so dismal and poor.

“According to Freedom House, more than half of the Council’s 47 members are considered ‘not-free’ or only ‘partially free’ countries. More importantly and most flagrantly, many of these same countries share a political agenda that precludes the State of Israel, and utterly dismiss our inherent right to live in peace and security in our homeland.”

The Israeli ambassador noted that the Human Rights Council report had eliminated violations by countries like Cuba and Belarus.

“Countless others suffering around the globe, living under tyrannical rule and oppression and violated by human rights abusers, do not gain this Council’s attention.

“My delegation does not ask for special treatment. Israel, like any other country in this hall, should be subject to review and constructive criticism on a fair and impartial basis,” Gillerman said.

-----

It turned out to be a little too much for them to take...

Gillerman’s speech at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York was cut short, after the building’s emergency alarm sounded. All those present in the Assembly hall were asked to vacate the premises immediately, and were escorted to the building’s security shelters. The cause of the alarm has yet to be determined.

Dan Gillerman is an amazing speaker, powerful and commanding. Dave is on the lookout for the video, and I can't wait to see it.

The Tide is High

In Hamastan, next up... a tsunami of waste:

UMM AL NASSER, Gaza, Oct. 30 — Fahmi al-Abrak, 70, was at home on March 27 when a lagoon of human waste broke through its sand embankment and hurtled downhill, inundating this poor village of Bedouins in northern Gaza. “It rose to here in 15 seconds,” he said, pointing to a discolored line on the walls, four feet above ground.

Five people died, drowned in the wave of waste, along with scores of goats, sheep and chickens. Nearly 1,000 people had to be taken out of the village. Now, Mr. Abrak said, “I’m afraid to go to sleep at night.”

and now... they expect it to happen again:

That lake, which itself holds sewage overflow, now contains almost four million cubic yards of water and human waste, covering about 100 acres, and it is again creeping close to the danger point. Its sand embankment was reinforced this summer, and two more outlet ponds have been dug in the sand. But more waste enters daily than is discharged, the lake is only six feet below the embankment and the winter rains are coming.

The fault of course lies with Israel:

Israel has declared Gaza “hostile territory” and is sharply limiting the kinds of goods allowed in.

The restrictions cover many ordinary items not considered essential to human life. But they also cover things like metal pipes, welding machines and the wire used to refurbish electric motors — things that Israel believes could have secondary use by the Hamas administration and the Palestinian gunmen who fire rockets toward nearby Israeli towns like Sderot.

Of course, its the fault of that damn Israeli government, always trying to keep its citizens from being slaughtered in the streets by arabs. Truly, what is so hostile about a people whose single goal is to kill others, to blow up schools and pizzarias and busses? What is so hostile about busting into homes in the middle of the night and shooting children as they lie asleep in their beds? Those damn Israelis! How dare they object to the building of pipe bombs and rocket launchers, how dare they object to rockets raining down on civilian communities, schools, homes? How dare they deny the palestinians the materials and the ways and means to kill?

Its all the fault of the Jews! or... is it?

... the level of the lake was one problem, and the rain’s effect on the sand embankment was another.

... the pumps have been moved to the teeming city of Khan Yunis, where another sewage disaster is threatening. Trying to save money, residents there hooked their sewer pipes to a system to catch rainwater and have filled it with waste, creating a sludge that blocks drainage. With the coming rains, that system threatens to overflow, forcing sewage back into homes and businesses and polluting the aquifer and the wells that supply most drinking water.

A Japanese project for repairs at Khan Yunis was suspended when Hamas won Palestinian elections in 2006.

Even before this latest crisis, a World Bank project to replace the northern facility and drain the lake into nine new treatment ponds was delayed for nearly two years. The area had suffered from warfare with Israel, internal Palestinian clashes, strikes by workers and other problems.

But here's the real reason that Gaza was flooded with human waste:

The lagoon broke in March, he said, “because there is no security there and people were stealing the sand.”

"A tsumani of waste" is perhaps the perfect metaphor for the palestinian people, who have brought their "suffering" upon themselves, by their own actions. They create nothing, and destroy everything they get their hands on. They have sacrificed everything they have and everything they might ever have In the pursuit of their goal to kill the Jews. Let them reap what they have sown, they'll get no sympathy from me, not when the simple solution is to stop shooting rockets, stop bombing innocent people, stop the murder and mayhem and chaos and destruction.

If they stopped sending their children into Israel with bombs strapped around their waist, well, maybe the checkpoints would be eased, maybe they could enter Israel proper and get jobs, and be a part of humanity. If they stopped raining rockets down on civilians, if they stopped building rockets and rocket launchers, maybe then they would get materials to build their cities. If they would teach their children to read and write, to think instead of to kill and maim and destroy, maybe they could arise from the pool of shit they wallow in and become part of the human race. But no, palestinians have their priorities and if the end result is that they wallow in shit because of their own actions, well, its only just and right.

I prefer to think of it a plague upon them.

Water utility official Mr. Shoblak put it differently. “How many Palestinians need to drown?” he asked.

And here's where I'll shut up.

------------

UPDATE: Its Israel to the rescue, once again.

Yeah. You read that right. $900 million to the regime that's killing our troops in Iraq and killing Israelis in Israel. $900 million to the regime that is busy building a nuclear bomb so it can destroy all that is good and right in this world.

Why? Why would Zoellick do such a thing? Can anyone explain the rationale behind this because I don't get it. I just don't.

Project Valour-IT - Go Marines!

I see hundreds of them on the road and in parking lots every day. All different colors and designs. Some yellow, some red, white and blue, some a combination. They all say the same thing. There is a yellow one on the back of my truck right now.

Support the Troops.

A fine notion, and one that America has not truly embraced since WWII. There were plenty of troops to support in-between now and then. I attended Support the Troops rallies during Desert Storm, including one on Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami. Now the only rallies we see there are the anti-war rallies run by socialist/communists who consider America to be the enemy.

But, there are all those magnets. All those people who claim to support the troops. Spend your $5.00, stick it on the back of your vehicle and go on your merry way, doing all the day to day things in your life made possible by those very same troops.

What if... what if you met one of those troops face to face. One of those troops who spent several nights sleeping in a hollow in the sand, like those pictures you saw last year in your email? One of those troops who took Baghdad from Saddam's Army in less time than it took Reno to massacre the Branch Davidians? One of those troops who went door to door in Fallujah, under fire by terrorists. One of those troops who fired back, protecting himself, his unit, and yes, protecting you in the process. One of those troops who were running a supply convoy and ran into an I.E.D. One of those troops who took part in one of these IPOs? What if that troop had been injured?

Would you show him your magnet?

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, provides voice-controlled software and laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand and arm injuries or amputations at major military medical centers. Operating laptops by speaking into a microphone, our wounded heroes are able to send and receive messages from friends and loved ones, surf the 'Net, and communicate with buddies still in the field without having to press a key or move a mouse. The experience of CPT Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss, a partner in the project who suffered hand wounds while serving in Iraq, illustrates how important this voice-controlled software can be to a wounded servicemember's recovery.

Many of my readers will remember when I made my Let's Cheer Up Chuck post in July of 2005. My goal at that time was to cheer up Chuck as he recovered from wounds he received while defending our freedom in Iraq. Many of you sent cards and letters to Chuck during his stay at Walter Reed and I thank you for that.

But there are other brave troops like Chuck who need our help, and they deserve the very best that America has to offer. Will they get it? I hope so, and I am sure you hope so too. But, like the magnets on the back of all those cars, hope is not going to do much to support these who have done their very best to protect our Freedom, and this Country.

I urge you to do a little more then just hope. Please help. Put your money where your heart is. Send the price of a magnet if that's all you can afford. But send something.

Crime of the Century

In the United States of America, it is not a crime to burn our Nation's flag. In fact, you can do damn near anything you want to it, including defecate on it in public, its all well and good and part of your free speech.

However, it appears that in the United States of America it is a crime to burn the Mexican flag:

It caused some controversy, but it was supposed to. Now, one man is headed to municipal court for burning a Mexican flag in protest in front of the Alamo.

The city is charging 46-year old David Bohmfalk with burning without a permit, even though no one gives permits to burn a flag.

All the rallies and talk of amnesty for undocumented immigrants in May 2006 lit the fires of patriotism for Bohmfalk, he said.

"I just got angry," he said. "I decided I had to do something, make my statement, and that's what I did."

Bohmfalk had his own protest in front of a building known for revolution, where Davy Crockett and James Bowie made a stand. So did Bohmfalk but he used a lighter instead of gunfighter. Park police cited Bohmfalk for illegal burning of rubbish, even it was a Mexican flag he set ablaze.

"Because of what it's made out of, it took a little while to burn it. It took me two minutes, but I got it lit."

Bohmfalk says while he was detained by police, he was harassed, his life was threatened, and he was even assaulted by some tourists who spit on him. Ironically, all these offenses are punishable by law. Jakob says flag burning is not.

"In America, every day we see people burning the American flag and it's become desensitized," Jakob said. "If we can allow that, we can certainly say that the Mexican flag can be burned."

As a former Texas police chief and military veteran, Bohmfalk says he knows his rights, and is fighting for them.

"Why should a foreign flag get any better protection than the American flag?" he said.

An interesting tidbit from Bohmfalk's description of what happened that day:

"At this point, the two officers, both Hispanic, began talking to each other about what felonies they could charge me with, and asking me questions, although I had not been advised of my rights under Miranda v. Arizona. The male police officer, I believe his name was Ramirez, advised me that I had not only committed arson, but that I had violated several state and federal Homeland Security laws and that I should now consider myself a “domestic terrorist”. Numerous times while he was questioning me, he repeated that I had committed an act of domestic terrorism, due to post-9-11 laws.

Domestic terrorist? For burning the mexican flag? WTF???

First thing Monday morning, I'm sending a check to his lawyer, to help pay for his defense.

UPDATE: Once the story made the news, the City dropped the charges.

His attorney, Jason Jakob, says officers detained the former peace officer that May Day trying to find something to charge Bohmfalk with. All the while, he says, his client took some heat of his own.

"They tried to call him a domestic terrorist. They tried to get him for arson. They detained him for an hour and a half worth of his time. They allowed him to be spit on," Jakob said.

His brush with the law and his attorney's fees now have Bohmfalk considering more legal action against the city.

Good. If he decides to go forward against the city, I'll support it.

Thank you Art Carney

Today, on your birthday, I would like to thank you for the laughs... and thank you for protecting my freedom!

For those of you who didn't know... Art Carney was drafted into the Army in 1943 and in 1944, he took part in the D-Day landing at Normandy. A piece of mortar shrapnel shattered his right leg, leaving him with a leg three-quarters of an inch shorter than the other and a lifelong limp. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Art Carney was a funny guy, and a Hero!

Amen

Partners in Peace™

From the mouth of Israel's Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert:

Presumably, he is talking about Mahmoud Abbas, President of Fatah, as this wonderous Palestinian leader who truly wants peace with Israel. and... Just a little earlier in the day, Fatah's military wing had this to say:

Ah yes, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military arm of Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah Party, designated a terrorist organization by Israel, the U.S., Canada, the European Union, and Japan.

Those are Israel's Partners in Peace™ - the Palestinian moderates who have been killing Jews for over 40 years.

Its a funny thing about terrorists, whether you call them extremist or moderate, no matter which brand of terrorist kills you, you are still dead. The list of murders committed by Israel's Partner in Peace™ is staggering, so, tell ya what, I'll just list some of the more recent murders, since October of 2000 to make the point:
