Double Tap!

An Israeli citizen shot dead a Palestinian man who attempted to stab people standing at a hitchhikers station near the West Bank settlement of Shiloh on Monday evening:

"An Ofra resident, in his thirties, returned from his workplace in (the settlement of) Itamar, got off at the Shiloh hitchhikers' station, where a 16-year-old boy was standing. Shortly afterwards, they were approached by the terrorist, who began talking to them in broken English, mixed with Hebrew and Arabic. He seemed nervous, put his hand into his shirt between the buttons, pulled out a knife and shouted, 'Allah Akbar' (God is great).

"The Ofra resident pulled out his weapon, fired two bullets, and the terrorist fell on the floor. Security and medical forces were dispatched to the area and tended to the terrorist, but eventually proclaimed him dead."

Now that's what I call gun control.

Sgt Keith Matthew "Matt" Maupin

On April 9, 2004, terrorists kidnapped then PFC Keith "Matt" Maupin, assigned to the Army Reserve 724th Transportation Company, when his convoy of fuel trucks was ambushed while enroute from Camp Anaconda to Baghdad International Airport. He had been in Iraq for six weeks.

A week later, Al Jazeera aired a video that included Maupin giving his name, rank and serial number, indicating that he was being held by a group known as the "Sharp Sword Against the Enemies of God and His Prophet". The group indicated that they would be willing to trade Maupin for prisoners being held by the U.S.

Two months later, another video showed a man in desert camouflage, sitting in front of a hole in the ground. The man, identified as Maupin, was shown only from the back...and then, apparently, was shot in the head. A statement released with the video claimed that Maupin had been killed because the U.S. refused to negotiate the release of Iraqi prisoners.

The figure sitting in the dirt was only shown from behind, so there was no proof that it was Maupin. Despite thousands of tips, an Arabic-language commercial aired several hundred times in Iraq, and a $200,000 reward for the return or recovery of Maupin, the trail grew cold. Matt was not considered “missing in action” and he was not considered a “prisoner of war” either. He was just… gone. We hoped... and we prayed.... and we waited...

And now, almost four years later, Matt Maupin is coming home:

Matt Maupin

His resting place shall be in the Garden of Eden.
Therefore, the Master of mercy will care for him
under the protection of His wings for all time
And bind his soul in the bond of everlasting life.
God is his inheritance and he will rest in peace
and let us say Amen.

Maupins Confirm D-N-A is from Body of Son, Missing Soldier Matt Maupin

(UNION TOWNSHIP, OH) -- Keith Maupin confirmed this afternoon that the remains of his son, Matt Maupin, have been identified by the army in Iraq.

In a statement Keith said "We are proud of the continued efforts of the military and the army to return Matt to us. We must now work on efforts to return Matt.'

"Please keep the military and our family in your prayers."

Carolyn Maupin, Matt's mother said, "Thanks to everyone for their prayers and continued strength of the family."

"It hurts after four years of hope and this is what happens it is like a let down for me and I'm trying to get thru that right now."

"Pray. This is going to be very difficult and stay by our side in support."

Keith says that the family was informed this afternoon about 1p-m by a three star general. The body was identified by the D-N-A remains.

Please, take a moment today, visit Matt's parents' website, sign the guestbook, and let his family know that you care.

Jesus or Barack?

This quiz is downright creepy:

Questions like this:

How did I do? Correct on nine of out ten, I passed on the question about the song lyrics. As if the questions weren't creepy enough, then it told me I was Jesus.

No, really!

I'm still shuddering.

Shabbat Shalom

Our Father in Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first manifestation of the approach of our redemption. Shield it with Your loving kindness, envelop it in Your peace, and bestow Your light and truth upon its leaders, ministers, and advisors, and grace them with Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of those who defend our holy land, grant them deliverance, and adorn them in a mantle of victory.

Ordain peace in the land and grant its inhabitants eternal happiness. Lead them, swiftly and upright, to Your city Zion and to Jerusalem, the abode of Your Name, as is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses: “Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the Lord your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.”

Draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah, and send us quickly the Messiah son of David, agent of Your vindication, to redeem those who await Your deliverance.

Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.

Amen

Its Islamic Awareness Month

at the University of Miami:

Muslims students at the University of Miami have organized for the Islamic call to prayer, broadcasted each Friday afternoon this month from Richter Library's clock tower in commemoration of Islamic Awareness Month.

The call to prayer, or Adhan, is spoken in Arabic and is meant to resonate throughout the area.

"It serves as constant reminder of when we have to pray, because prayer itself is a reminder of our religion and how we practice it," said Selima Jumarali, the vice president of the organization.

According to the teachings of Islam, Muslims are to pray five times a day. In Muslim-majority countries, the call is usually performed live by an individual and is heard before every prayer.

Friday afternoon was chosen as the time to play the call because "it revolves around the day of congregational prayer," Jumarali said. Like Saturday for Jews or Sunday for Christians, Friday "holds strong significance for Muslims," she said.

Outside the library last Friday, students listened during the three-minute recording.

Kaleena Salgueiro said that although she could not understand the words in Arabic, the call was "pretty" and "very melodic." She said it reminded her of chanting in a monastery.

When asked whether they thought the Friday prayer call should be continued even after the month, many replied "why not?"

"It brings true variety to the university and open appreciation to diversity, especially in these times when people have misunderstandings of Muslims and who we are," she said.

Misunderstandings of moslems and who they are? Yeah. Sure. Everything I need to know about Islam, I learned from the history books, and from watching what they have done in the Middle East, and from what they have done, and continue to do to Israel. That knowledge was further expanded on September 11, 2001 and further expanded through the years of hijackings, kidnappings, the cartoon riots, the bombings of schools and malls in Iraq, the beheadings, honor killings, hangings, stonings, mutilations...

To me, the "moslem call to prayer" sounds like the "Death to America" chanting that is so popular wherever moslems gather.

Still, yannow, they broadcast the Bible over loudspeakers during Christian Awareness Month and they broadcast the Torah over loudspeakers during Jewish Awareness Month, right?

Wrong. There is no Christian Awareness Month, no Jewish Awareness Month, no Buddist Awareness Month, no Athiest Awareness Month, although I'm sure there are plenty of Christians, Jews, Buddists and Athiests on Campus. Oh no no no, and nope. There is only Islam Awareness Month.

I don't know about you, but I'm damn sick and tired of being aware of Islam.

Know Thy Enemy

The following transcript of a jihadist call-to-arms was released by the Crown in the so-called “Toronto 18” case. The December, 2005, remarks were made during an alleged weeklong terrorist training camp north of Canada's largest city.

“We're here to kick it off man. We're here to get the rewards of everybody that's gonna come after us *God willing* if we don't get a victory *God willing* our kids will get it. If not them, their kids will get it, if not them five generations down somebody will get it *God willing.*

“This is the promise of Allah. God's help and victory is near. It's coming. When it's gonna come down, it doesn't matter man, this is our path we stick to it no matter what the trials are. We're all gonna need help, we all gotta help each other through it, through the trials, small or big, but there are trials …

“But you know what? Your minds gotta be on this place. Your minds and your hearts have to be here. You go back, you're living with society and you have to put on that face, you know what, we're a bunch of peace lovers you know what, I love all this *non believers* yup I love your wealth … [GROUP LAUGHTER] … I love your women, I love everything about you …

“Our mission is here. This is where we come back at the end of the day. We all got our missions which we gotta fulfill. We all know what we gotta do when we go back whether, it's like enroll in school or do your education this and that …

“So although our bodies will be with the *non-believers* roaming around, going to work, trying to get money, sucking up to your boss, and this and that, you know, the typical idea of nice uh, do *favours* with the parents this and that … our hearts are with the people of *heaven* our hearts are with this group right here and everybody else that's given the Covenant for us and be part of this, who are not here but *God willing* they are here with their hearts, all right?

“So you go back, *God willing* remember, doesn't matter what trials you face [GROUP SIGHING] it doesn't matter what comes your way. Our mission's greater, whether we get arrested, whether we get killed, we get tortured, our mission's greater than just individuals. It's not about you or I or this *leader* or that *leader* it's not about that. It's about the fact that this has to get done.

“Rome has to be defeated. And we have to be the ones that do it, no holding back, whether, it's one man that survives, you have to do it. This is what the Covenant's all about, you have to do it. And *God willing* we will do it. *God willing* we will get that victory.

“... Well who's gonna say anything about it. We destroyed your armies, you got nothing. We broke your knees. Rome, Rome, you guys realize who you're messing with? This is Rome. This is the one empire that's never been defeated.

“... But you know what? this empire has never been defeated. It's like a friggin' monster man. You cut off one hand, another one grows here, cut that one off, another grows here, cut that off, another one, another one, another one.

“Finally you had to leave the entire Europe because the Muslims are close to their shores. And here they came to North America and they got their fortress, they got their wall, they got their um, Patriot missiles, or whatever the heck they call them, trying to you know defend their airspace, this and that, but you know what?

“Here we are we entered your lands, we already started striking cause you know what? This training is striking at them. Saying *There is no God but God* …

“It's just we gottta stick with it man. If it takes long so be it. We just gotta stick with it because this is our mission. This is our life's mission and Allah – has already purchased us, lives and our wealth in exchange for *heaven.* He's already purchased it. We are fulfilling that, living it, alright.”

Now, doesn't that make you feel all warm and mushy about the religion of peace?

Hey now!

Being that the RNC has decided to run a lying liberal sack of crap for POTUS this year, I've pretty much written off the up-coming election and will put all my efforts towards surving the next four years. Of course, that pretty much leaves me completely uninterested in the Republican National Convention, however, I just might watch it anyways...

A Welcoming Committee of "anarchists" and "anti-authoritarians" buying tasers for the Republican National Convention? I ask you, does it get any better?

Oh please please please.... don't anyone tell them that police versions have more than twice the range of civilian tasers... There's nothing I'd like better than to see some fried moonbat...

Oh... and drive stun! Bring on the drive stun!

A Conservative in his own mind

"[Y]ou can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do," Huckabee says. "It's interesting to me that there are some people on the left who are having to be very uncomfortable with what ... Wright said, when they all were all over a Jerry Falwell, or anyone on the right who said things that they found very awkward and uncomfortable, years ago. Many times those were statements lifted out of the context of a larger sermon. Sermons, after all, are rarely written word for word by pastors like Rev. Wright, who are delivering them extemporaneously, and caught up in the emotion of the moment. There are things that sometimes get said, that if you put them on paper and looked at them in print, you'd say 'Well, I didn't mean to say it quite like that.'"

Later, he defended Wright's anger, too:

"As easy as it is for those of us who are white to look back and say 'That's a terrible statement!' ... I grew up in a very segregated South. And I think that you have to cut some slack — and I'm gonna be probably the only conservative in America who's gonna say something like this, but I'm just tellin' you — we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names..."

Ohfercryinoutloud! "[Y]ou can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do,"... You most certainly can, and you must, if the candidate makes those people spiritual advisors, quotes them in his book, brings his kids to listen to them week after week, and supports them financially to the tune of $20,000 a pop to help them "spread the word."

Click himself to hear it for yourself, at about minute 4:00.

Dear Democrats

An Open Letter to the Democratic Party
By Lt. Colonel Frances Rice, U.S. Army Retired

"We, African American citizens of the United States, declare and assert:

Whereas in the early 1600's 20 African men and women were landed in Virginia from a Dutch ship as slaves and from that tiny seed grew the poisoned fruit of plantation slavery which shaped the course of American development,

Whereas reconciliation and healing always begin with an apology and an effort to repay those who have been wronged,

Whereas the Democratic Party has never apologized for their horrific atrocities and racist practices committed against African Americans during the past two hundred years, nor for the residual impact that those atrocities and practices and current soft bigotry of low expectations are having on us today,

Whereas the Democratic Party fought to expand slavery and, after the Civil War, established Jim Crow Laws, Black Codes and other repressive legislation that were designed to disenfranchise African Americans,

Whereas the Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party, and their primary goal was to intimidate and terrorize African American voters, Republicans who moved South to protect African Americans and any other whites who supported them,

Whereas, according to leading historians (both black and white), the horrific atrocities committed against African Americans during slavery and Reconstruction were financed, sponsored, and promoted by the Democratic Party and their Ku Klux Klan supporters,

Whereas from 1870 to 1930, in an effort to deny African Americans their civil rights and to keep African Americans from voting Republican, thousands of African Americans were shot, beaten, lynched, mutilated, and burned to death by Ku Klux Klan terrorists from the Democratic Party,

Whereas Democratic Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman rejected anti-lynching laws and efforts to establish a permanent Civil Rights Commission,

Whereas the Democratic party has used racist demagoguery to deceive African Americans about the history of the Republican Party that: (a) started as the anti-slavery party in 1854, (b) fought to free African Americans from slavery, (c) designed Reconstruction, a ten-year period of unprecedented political power for African Americans, (d) passed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the U. S. Constitution granting African Americans freedom, citizenship, and the right to vote, (e) passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875 granting African Americans protection from the Black Codes and prohibiting racial discrimination in public accommodations, (f) passed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965 granting African Americans protection from the Jim Crow laws, (g) established Affirmative Action programs to help African Americans proper with Republican President Richard Nixon's 1969 Philadelphia Plan that set the first goals and timetables and his 1972 Equal Employment Opportunity Act that made Affirmative Action Programs the law of our nation, and (h) never sponsored or launched a program, passed laws, or engaged in practices that resulted in the death of millions of African Americans,

Whereas Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka (a 1954 decision by Chief Justice Earl Warren who was appointed by Republican President Dwight Eisenhower) was a landmark civil rights case that was designed to overturn the racist practices that were established by the Democratic Party,

Whereas after Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt received the vote of African Americans, he banned African American newspapers from the military shortly after taking office because he was convinced the newspapers were communists,

Whereas Democratic President John F. Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Law, opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and was later criticized by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for ignoring civil rights issues.

Whereas Democratic President John F. Kennedy authorized the FBI (supervised by his brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy) to investigate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on suspicion of being a communist,

Whereas Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, made a 14-hour filibuster speech in the Senate in June 1964 in an unsuccessful effort to block passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and was heralded in April 2004 by Democratic Senator Christopher Dodd as a senator who would have been a great leader during the Civil War,

Whereas when the 1964 Civil Rights Act came up for vote, Senator Al Gore, Sr. and the rest of the Southern Democrats voted against the bill,

Whereas in the House of Representatives only 61 percent of the Democrats voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act as compared to 80 percent of Republicans, and in the Senate only 69 percent of the Democrats voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, compared to 82 percent of the Republicans,

Whereas Democratic President Bill Clinton sent troops to Europe to protect the citizens of Bosnia and Kosovo while allowing an estimated 800,000 black Rwandans to be massacred in Africa, vetoed the welfare reform law twice before signing it, and refused to comply with a court order to have shipping companies develop an Affirmative Action Plan,

Whereas Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore created harmful racial division when he falsely claimed that the 2000 presidential election was "stolen" from him and that African Americans in Florida were disenfranchised, even though a second recount of Florida votes by the "Miami Herald" and a consortium of major news organizations confirmed that he lost the election, and a ruling by the U.S. Civil Rights Commission declared that African Americans were not denied the right to vote,

Whereas the Democratic Party's soft bigotry of low expectations and social promotions have consigned African Americans to economic bondage and created a culture of dependency on government social programs,

Whereas the Democratic Party's use of deception and fear to block welfare reform, the faith-based initiative and school choice that would help African Americans prosper is consistent with the Democratic Party's heritage of racism that included sanctioning of slavery and kukluxery, a perversion of moral sentiment among leaders of the Democratic Party whose racist legacy bode ill until this generation of African Americans,

Now, therefore, for the above and other documented atrocities and accumulated wrongs inflicted upon African Americans, we demand a formal written apology and other appropriate remuneration from the leadership of the Democratic party.

March 18, 2008

Step by Step

inch by inch, we move closer to the Day of Reckoning:

The Palestinian Authority is planning to mark Israel's 60th anniversary by calling on all Palestinians living abroad to converge on Israel by land, sea and air.

The plan, drawn by Ziad Abu Ein, a senior Fatah operative and Deputy Minister for Prisoners' Affairs in the Palestinian Authority, states that the Palestinians have decided to implement United Nations Resolution 194 regarding the refugees.

Article 11 of the resolution, which was passed in December 1948, says that "refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible."

The initiative is the first of its kind and is clearly aimed at embarrassing Israel during the anniversary celebrations by highlighting the issue of the "right of return" for the refugees.

Entitled "The Initiative of Return and Coexistence," the plan suggests that the PA has abandoned a two-state solution in favor of one state where all Arabs and Jews would live together.

"The Palestinians, backed by all those who believe in peace, coexistence, human rights and the UN resolutions, shall recruit all their energies and efforts to return to their homeland and live with the Jews in peace and security," the plan says.

"Fulfilling the right of return is a human, moral and legal will that can't be denied by the Jews or the international community. On the [60th] anniversary of the great suffering, the Palestinian people are determined to end this injustice."

Abu Ein's initiative, which has won the backing of many PA leaders in Ramallah, calls on all Israelis to welcome the Palestinians "who will be returning to live together with them in the land of peace."

The plan calls on the refugees to return to Israel on May 14, 2008 with their suitcases and tents so that they could settle in their former villages and towns. The refugees are also requested to carry UN flags upon their return and to be equipped with their UNRWA-issued ID cards.

I've discussed such a scenario many times in private conversations over the years. The question troubled me, what could Israel do if the palestinians sent their women and children marching into Israel? How could Israel stop it? How could Israel protect itself? The only answer would be by force and while that's just fine with me, it could be somewhat troublesome in the eyes of the rest of the world. Could Israel use overwhelming force against the invaders and still exist afterwards?

The question troubled me, but I have never written about it, after all, this is the internet and there's no sense in giving anyone ideas.

Now we have this "Initiative," which is not designed to embarrass Israel, oh no. It is designed to destroy Israel as a Jewish State, to kill the Jews and to overrun and overtake the land. There can be no coexistence with the palestinians, how can there be, when among the palestinian young, ages 18 -25, an overwhelming number - between 84% - 93% -- deny Israel's right to exist. How can there be, when overall, 75% of palestinians deny Israel's right to exist.

And now, the invaders are coming, with their suitcases and their tents, their bomb belts and their guns and their knives and their sticks and their stones. They are coming to kill the Jews and they will put their women and children on the front lines, and try to overrun the checkpoints. Hezbollah and Hamas will likely attack at the same time, and engage the IDF. If the arabs kill a few arabs, so what? They will blame the deaths on Israel, as they have before.

What will happen?

In the end, it will be Israel's citizens who decide what will happen.

I know what those on the right will do, and I support them in the fight to keep their land, to keep Israel a Jewish State. But I wonder, what will the leftists do, those who want to give the country to the arabs to make peace. Will they give up their homes and their lives to the invaders, or will they fight for life and for Eretz Yisrael?

If this really happens, it could be the final Day of Reckoning. May 14, 2008.

Isaiah 31:4 For thus saith the LORD unto me: Like as the lion, or the young lion, growling over his prey, though a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them; so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.

Isaiah 31:5 As birds hovering, so will the LORD of hosts protect Jerusalem; He will deliver it as He protecteth it, He will rescue it as He passeth over.

I believe in miracles.

Iranian Justice Seeking Students

want your kidneys "for the cause":

TEHRAN (AFP) — Iranian hardline students have offered rewards totalling a million dollars for the "execution" of three Israeli military leaders over the deadly strikes on Gaza, the student news agency ISNA reported on Monday.

The group is even encouraging Iranians to donate their kidneys to increase the bounties on the heads of Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak, Mossad spy agency director Meir Dagan and military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin.

The rewards were announced by the Justice Seeking Students Group on Sunday at a ceremony in Tehran entitled "setting the bounty for the revolutionary execution of the designers of state terrorism," ISNA said.

The bounty for Barak is set at 400,000 dollars while those for Dagan and Yadlin are 300,000 each, the report said. It is not clear where the money is coming from.

"These sums will be given to any person or their families who could punish these individuals in any part of the world," the organisers of the event announced.

Pictures taken at the ceremony showed a banner bearing pictures of the three Israelis against the backdrop of an Israeli flag, with rifle sights stencilled onto the foreheads of the trio.

"Israel must be wiped off the map," read a quote from Iran's revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini printed on the top of the banner.

The event in Tehran was concluded by organisers distributing application forms for volunteers to donate kidneys to increase the bounties for the three men.

"This is one of the very good moves that shows we are ready to sacrifice our own health to support Palestinians and annihilate the heads of the Zionist regime," one of the event's organisers, Forouz Rajaifar, was quoted as saying.

Sheesh. Are the organizers donating their own kidneys?

Why not do the world a favor and just set each other on fire in protest?

Surprise Surprise Surprise

An update to Upheaval:

Police: We were surprised by intensity of rightists' riots

The Jerusalem Police on Sunday failed to prevent hundreds of extreme right-wing activists from arriving at the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber and hurling stones at its residents, despite repeated threats to by rightists to avenge the murder of eight yeshiva students in Jerusalem 10 days ago and destroy the terrorist's home.

"We were surprised by the intensity of the riots," a senior police official admitted.

Hundreds of extreme right-wing activists break through police barriers, enter east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber in bid to destroy house of terrorist who killed eight yeshiva students in Jerusalem. Two policemen lightly hurt in clashes; 22 people arrested.

A senior police official told Ynet,"There was marked violence towards police personnel and local residents, and protestors stormed their way into the village using stones, fire crackers and anything else they could get their hands on."

Large police forces were deployed at Jerusalem's Armon Hanatziv promenade in a bid to block the protestors and prevent them from reaching the Arab neighborhood.

'We outflanked police and descended to the village'

According to the demonstration organizers, some 200 right-wing activists gathered at the Armon Hanatziv promenade, located above the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood in the afternoon hours, where they were faced by about 100 police officers.

The rightists, who were unimpressed by the police forces' presence, turned to a banquet hall opposite the hill and outflanked the police forces from the left, arriving at the neighborhood's first houses within minutes.

According to the protestors, the police paid attention to what was happening only after a few minutes, and forces were sent to chase the activists.

"We descended to the village from around the UN building and threw stones at the homes of the Arabs, who shouted at us. Some tried to hurl stones, but most of them stayed at home," one of the organizers told Ynet.

Shortly afterwards, violent clashes erupted between the police and the rioters. When the activists began hurling stones at the neighborhood's homes, police forces began separating between the houses and the demonstrators. The rightists claimed that the police officers used excessive force.

"The Arabs of Israel and Jerusalem must understand that the Jews have stopped being suckers. If they identify with Hamas and Hizbullah, they will pay a price for it," one of the right-wing activists said.

According to Baruch Marzel, "What happened was unexpected. There is a limit to our tolerance and restraint. The police must know that there is a price for the fact that they are not demolishing the terrorist's house. Apparently other people have to complete the job for this to happen."

Itamar Ben-Gvir told Ynet, "This is only the beginning. This is the opening shot for a much more complicated struggle against our enemies. We are fed up with the fact that Jewish blood is abandoned and that the prime minister doesn’t care. The rage is erupting and leads to the incidents and anger we saw at the village."

Rabbi Elyakim Levanon of the Elon Moreh yeshiva said, "We are not here to fight the police, but rather to demand that the enemies be dealt with."

and...

The rightists called for revenge, and one of them told Ynet, "We are fed up with keeping silent. Jewish blood will not be abandoned. It's time to stop the defamation of God and this disgrace. We are going to destroy the terrorist's house."

Right-wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir said, "The Israeli government and the Israel Police are responsible for what is happening in Jabel Mukaber."

"This is the beginning of our war on the fifth column. We shall not let them live amongst us," said one of the demonstrators, Nadia Matar of the Women in Green organization.

In the absence of any effective government, it is the people who must show the way.

Haveil Havalim # 158

Thanks to Jack at Random Thoughts, The "Almost Purim" Edition of Haveil Havalim is up.

Haveil Havalim is a carnival of Jewish blogs -- a weekly collection of Jewish & Israeli blog highlights, tidbits and points of interest collected from blogs all around the world. It's hosted by different bloggers each week. The term 'Haveil Havalim,' which means "Vanity of Vanities," is from Qoheleth, (Ecclesiastes) which was written by King Solomon. King Solomon built the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and later on got all bogged down in materialism and other 'excesses' and realized that it was nothing but 'hevel,' or in English, 'vanity.'

As always, there are some excellent articles linked. Two of my posts, In my heart, I knew it and Yadda Yadda, are included this week. Enjoy!

For sale in Italy, the "Koranic Toilet":

Latina and London, 14 Nov. (AKI) - A campaign launched by an imam in central Italy and other local Muslims against a toilet seat featuring verses of the Koran has made it to the frontpage of London-based Arabic daily Al-Quds al-Arabi.

"Uproar in Italy over the 'Koranic' toilet seat cover," screamed a banner headline in the paper - one of the best-selling in the Middle East.

"This is an insult to the Muslim faith that we must react to," -- The imam of the mosque in the town of Latina in the central Italian region of Lazio, Sheikh Yusuf.

and...

"I would like to tell our friends from Latina that we have been informed of this matter and are taking action because it is offensive." -- interior minister Giuliano Amato

... according to local Italian media, a special investigative unit of the police had already begun probing the issue several days before Yusuf's verbal protest to Amato in Rome last month and seized 212 'Koranic' toilet seats from five supermarkets in the area, where they were on sale at 15 euros a piece.

Only 15 euros? I'd buy one at twice the price!

Amen

BEREAVED FAMILIES TO MARCH ON TERRORIST'S JERUSALEM HOME

Posters have gone up around Jerusalem announcing a march on the house of the terrorist that murdered eight yeshiva students to take place Sunday. Bereaved families will be taking part.

"Getting up from mourning and taking action - destroying the home of the terrorist," proclaim the posters in large red letters. On the top, the terrorist's uncle is quoted: "We are proud of him and happy about his actions - every resident of Jabel Mukaber is," he said, referring to the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood where the terroristís family lives.

Organizers say that bereaved families, from the most recent attack as well as the thousands of victims since the Oslo Accords, will be taking part in the march and invite the masses to march on the Arab neighborhood with the aim of 'destroying the home of the murderer and expelling his family and supporters.'

Tzemach Hirschfeld, whose son was murdered at Merkaz HaRav last Thursday, told Arutz-7 that he calls on all to join in the scheduled march, and expressed his hope that the terrible murders will influence the government to act with greater resolve.

The march is set to begin at the Armon HaNetziv promenade in Jerusalem at 5 PM on Sunday.

"The Arab enemy that is among us - in Lod, Akko, Wadi Ara and in the holy city of Jerusalem - supports and encourages the murder of Jews," organizers wrote, followed by a quote from the Scroll of Esther, which will be read next week for the Purim Festival: "And there was an upheaval, what was to be done to the Jews was perpetrated upon their enemies."

The posters are signed by the Kommemiyut, Lev Yehudi, Women in Green and the bereaved families. Yesha Rabbis Council head Rabbi Dov Lior has also called on the public to participate.

In the absence of any effective government, it is the people who must show the way.

Am Yisrael Chai!

Yadda Yadda

More bluster from Israel's Foreign Ministry:

(IsraelNN.com) Israel has decided to impose an official embargo of the Arabic Al Jazeera satellite TV network due to the Foreign Ministry's assessment that the station functions as a propaganda arm in the Arab war against the Jewish State.

"After discussions on the issue, the Foreign Ministry has decided to embargo the station," Deputy Foreign Minister Majali Wahabe told Army Radio Wednesday. "[Al Jazeera’s] reports are untrustworthy and they hurt us. They incite people to terrorist activities."

The Foreign Ministry intends to demand that Qatar, where Al Jazeera is based, investigate specific allegations regarding coverage of recent events in Gaza and other incidents. It alleges that Al Jazeera has cooperated fully with Hamas propoganda efforts.

Except...

As of yet, however, no press cards of Al Jazeera personnel have been revoked, and Israeli government spokesmen will continue to speak on the agency’s English-language channel.

Nothing but more bluster from the Israeli Ministry, a useless and stupid statement that will never see any real results in terms of what comes out Al Jazeera.

However, you might ask yourself, besides the obvious bias against Israel, what does CNN have in common with Al Jazeera? And... what does ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, ESPN, and FOX News have in common with Al Jazeera? And... what does Reuters have in common with Al Jazeera?

The answer is... RRSat.

RRSat Global Communications Network Ltd. is an experienced comprehensive world-class provider of end-to-end transmission via satellites and production services to the global broadcasting industry. The company was founded in 1981 and operates under license from the Israeli Ministry of Communications.

Yup. You read that right. RRSat is an Israeli company and these are some of their clients:

Al Jazeera, along with most of the mainstream media, relies on an Israeli company to distribute its anti-Israel propaganda, including their constant calls to boycott Israeli companies, and other companies that do business with Israel.

Irony is so... ironic.

From my Vacation...

I spent a couple of vacation days on beautiful South Beach, along with a couple few thousand Spring Breakers. They were wild and crazy, running around half-nekkid, swooning in the SoFla sunshine and causing the kind of trouble drunken children cause.

Fortunately, there he was...

Officer Lardass, one of South Florida's finest, on patrol. Doesn't he make you feel safe with that Glock on his hip?

Yannow, I believe I could had myself a free Glock, just snatched it right out of his holster. I could have outrun him, my grandmother could have outrun him. There's no way Officer Lardass could have chased me down, in fact, I bet he wouldn't have made it one block without having to stop for either a pizza or a coronary.

Forcryinoutloud, can someone please tell me, why is that man on my police force? Have we no standards at all?

Mooning the Mullahs?

In defiance, Iranians strip naked in public.

Woman in Iran strolling down the sidewalk naked:

and... Transsexual/Transvestite? takes off shirt to show bra at night

This last one is supposed to be a porno hack of a billboard in Karaj.

I can't vouch for their authenticity, I found them and a few others at the site linked above, via Bloggie.

I won't pass judgment but, if they are authentic, it seems to me as futile as "naked bike rides for peace" and a really stupid way to get yourself killed.

UPDATE: WTF??!!?! How did that happen?

Fighting fire with fire

"From this day onwards, we will push back to the stone age every place which dares shoot missiles into Israel's sovereign territory. It is time the world understood Israelis' lives are not expendable."

"I'm afraid this is the only language the Palestinians understand, and this is the language in which we'll speak to them. I have many Gazan Palestinian friends who live as Hamas hostages. Once we bring an end to the rocket fire, Gaza's residents will also live in peace." -- Ashkelon resident Moshe Nissimpor

Ashkelon resident Moshe Nissimpor decided that the best way to halt rocket fire from Gaza - in light of what he terms the government's failure to do so - is some vigilante justice.

Nissimpor developed a homemade 200-millimeter ballistic missile which he planned to launch from Ashkelon into the Gaza Strip.

Nissimpor arrived at the Ashkelon Municipality building with the missile painted black and lettered "to Hamas, from the residents of Ashkelon" in red, and was planning to launch it.

Ashkelon residents gathered round to cheer him on and protest the government's conduct, but at the eleventh hour, police stopped him from firing the missile and seized it.

"I wish there were more 'crazies' like me in Israel," Nissimpor said as the crowd was dispersed by the police.

Earlier Wdnesday, as the security cabinet met and emerged with a message that the government will stop the rocket attacks against Israeli communities from the Gaza Strip, three rockets struck the western Negev.

In my heart, I knew it.

This is Alaa Abu Dheim:

He is the terrorist responsible for the death of 8 young Yeshiva students in Jerusalem this week. He carried a blue Israeli identity card and came from east Jerusalem and he worked as a driver at the seminary. But here's a little something about him that you likely won't read about in the mainstream media:

... he was arrested by Israeli authorities four months ago and then released two months later.

I was on vacation when this happened, but as soon as I heard, in my heart, I knew that if I looked long enough and hard enough, I would find that the murderer was a recently released prisoner. As soon as I had access to my computer, well, it didn't take all that long to find that out.

Fact: More than 50 Israeli Arabs have been arrested over the past three years on suspicion of being involved in terror. Nearly half of them are Palestinians who have received a permit to stay in Israel and an Israeli identity card on the backdrop of their marriage to an Israeli Arab, and terror groups seek to recruit them due to their access to Israeli targets.

No word on what he was locked up for in the first place, anyone want to take a guess? Israel let this bastard go as a gesture of good will after Annapolis. He didn't have blood on his hands when they let him go, but thanks to the international community, he got another chance at it and he damn sure has blood on his hands now, along with everyone connected with Annapolis and his release.

Abu Dheim is a perfect example of what happens when Israel releases terrorists from its prisons, Ehud Olmert let him go and he went right back to trying to kill Jews. His victims:

They were identified as: Yohai Lifshitz, 18, from Jerusalem; Yonatan Yitzhak Eldar, 16, from Shilo; Yonadav Haim Hirschfeld, 19, from Kohav Hashahar, Neria Cohen, 15, also from the capital, Segev Peniel Avihail, 15, from Neve Daniel, Avraham David Moses, 16, from Efrat, Roee Roth, 18, from Elkana and Doron Meherete, 26, from Ashdod.

Ten other young men were wounded in the attack, seven remain hospitalized. The public is asked to pray for the recovery of: Naftali ben [son of] Gila from Sderot, Yonatan ben Avital, Shimon ben Tirza, Nadav ben Hadas, Reuven ben Naomi and Elchanan ben Zehava.

Abu Dheim pulled the trigger, but the deaths of these 8 young men have been caused by the Annapolis peace process, and the appeasement of a terrorist nation whose soldiers live in safety as citizens of the State of Israel. They have been armed by the international community who turns a blind eye to the murder of Jews and a deaf ear to the tears and sorrow they cause.

These are the faces of 177 other Jews, all of whom were murdered by palestinian terrorists after the terrorists were released from Israeli prisons. If terrorism was punishable by death, these innocent people would be alive today, as would the 8 young men that we mourn today. Sadly, in Israel only Nazis are eligible for the death penalty, a truly stupid policy when you consider the number of Nazis in Israel as against the number of terrorists.

Israel will never get any sympathy nor support from the international community. No matter what we Jews do - or don't do, those that hate us will always hate us and they will always find some rationalization or justification for terrorism against us and for the murder of innocents among us.

Bottom line, no one respects a victim. When Israel won the 1967 war, she had international support in her fight to stay alive. Today, well...

My heart hurts.

Thirty-Eight Years Ago Today

March 6, 1970 at 11:55 a.m.

Three members of the radical activist group known as the Weather Underground, Diana Oughton, Ted Gold and Terry Robbins, blew themselves straight to hell when the bomb they were building, which was intended to blow up a dance at Fort Dix, exploded in an otherwise quiet New York neighborhood.

Had they been better bomb-makers, instead of killing themselves, they would have killed an untold number of American soldiers. In the name of peace.

Luckily, the Weathermen's expertise at bomb-making left much to be desired.

The Weathermen's hatred of the United States manifested itself in the bombings of the U.S. Capitol building, New York City Police Headquarters, the Pentagon, and the National Guard offices in Washington, D.C. The Weathermen's leader, Bill Ayers summed up the Weathermen's ideology as follows: "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents."

The Weathermen were radicals. They wanted their people to get involved, demonstrate, get arrested and force change down the throat of the "establishment." They fought at the Democratic Presidential Convention in 1968 and converged in Chicago in 1969 for an event that came to be known as "Days of Rage." The more violent extremists during that era were responsible for a score of bombings in places like Harvard University, various corporate headquarters and a number of government institutions. They praised Charles Manson and freed Dr. Timothy Leary from prison. Wherever there was violence and chaos in the name of dissent, the Weathermen were there.

Meet Bernadine Dohrn, leader of the Weather Underground:

IMG: Dohrn mugshotAt a "War Council" in Flint, Michigan in 1969, their leader Bernardine Dohrn praised the serial murderer Charles Manson: "Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them. They even shoved a fork into the victim's stomach. Wild." She then proclaimed that the time had come to launch the war against "Amerikkka" (the Weathermen always spelled America this way) and to form a Weather Underground to carry out terrorist activities.

The Weathermen claimed credit for 25 bombings over the next several years. They set bombs at the rebuilt Haymarket statue; a bathroom at the Pentagon; the Capitol barber shop; the New York City police headquarters; and a variety of other targets.

Dohrn's husband, Bill Ayers confessed that the bomb that killed the aforementioned Weather Underground members in New York was an anti-personnel weapon filled with nails and screws that would have killed or injured many at the Fort Dix dance. Ayers has recently, publicly acknowledged his feeling that his group should, in his opinion, have set off even more bombs.

For those of you who might be wondering where the rest of the Weathermen are, you need only look to our Universities, Bar Associations, and, the ACLU. That’s right. The ACLU. The unrepentant Dohrn is currently a law professor at Northwestern University. She also serves on the Board of the American Civil Liberties Union and committees of the American Bar Association. Her husband, and co-leader of the Weathermen Bill Ayers, is now Professor of Education at the University of Illinois. Teaching our children. Dig it.

Dohrn, Ayers and other members of the Weather Underground are currently under investigation in connection with a police officer killed by a bomb in 1970.

If they are indicted, they will likely have an easy time finding a lawyer since Ramsey Clark is no longer busy in Iraq, and Lynne Stewart, who has represented other members of the Weather Underground, received only a slap on the hand after her conviction for helping terrorists by smuggling messages of violence from one of her imprisoned clients -- the radical Egyptian sheik behind the 1993 WTC Bombing-- to his terrorist disciples on the outside.

Oh, and by the way... Weather Underground member Susan Rosenberg, implicated in the Nyack robbery, and Linda Evans, at different times wanted on a number of criminal charges, were apprehended carrying 740 pounds of explosives in 1985. Both acknowledged that the explosives were to be used to carry out additional bombings. Rosenberg was given 58 years in prison, Evans 40.

President Bill Clinton pardoned both women.

Well said!

Palestinian self-destruction from today's National Post:

On Friday, a 13-month-old Palestinian girl was killed by shrapnel in the Gaza town of Beit Hanoun. Hamas blamed Israel for the death. But according to locals, the deadly explosion occurred when a Palestinian rocket aimed at Israel went off course and blew up the victim's house. By the time the weekend was over, dozens more Palestinians would be killed -- as well as two Israeli soldiers -- as Israel waged an air and ground campaign against Palestinian rocket crews and their Hamas enablers.

As in any war, it is the child casualties that attract the greatest sympathy and anguish. But Friday's 13-month-old victim carries special significance: Her death by the Palestinians' own rocket fire perfectly symbolizes the self-destructive pathology that has afflicted the Palestinians since the 1960s. Palestinian leaders would quite literally prefer to slaughter their own people than turn Gaza into a normal country that deals on civilized terms with its neighbours.

On Saturday, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned Israel for "excessive and disproportionate" use of force. We reject that censure of Israeli actions, as should leaders of all civilized nations. No nation on Earth would sit back passively as a neighbouring territory bombarded its cities with rockets.

It is true that the Palestinians have suffered the bulk of the casualties in the ensuing counterterrorism operations. But such arithmetic does not change the moral calculus: It is not Israel's fault that the Palestinians choose to keep reigniting a lopsided and unwinnable war. Moreover, so long as Palestinians maintain the inhumane and terroristic practise of launching their rockets from civilian areas, Israel is blameless -- under both the letter and spirit of international law -- for the fact that some civilians die alongside the jihadis who deploy among them.

The situation of the Palestinians is a gruesome tragedy. But insofar as post-occupation Gaza is concerned, it is entirely self-inflicted. When Hamas, or whoever else takes over Gaza in coming years, decides to stop using the Palestinian people as one collective suicide bomber, they will find a willing peace partner in Israel. Until then, the Palestinian blood that flows won't stain Israeli hands.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Everyone loves Dr. Seuss. From Horton Hears a Who, right on down to One Fish, Two Fish, we read his stories, and we read them to our children. Even Bob Dylan made an album using his stories.

For the fun of it... the question of the day... "How many words are there in Dr. Suess' Green Eggs and Ham?"

Dr. Seuss was fun, and the best kind of fun, the silly kind. But... Fox in Socks aside, there was a lot more to Theodor Seuss Geisel than just Green Eggs and Ham. Dr. Seuss most certainly had a serious side:

That could have been drawn based on what's happening is Sderot, Israel today. In looking over Dr. Seuss cartoons for this post, I was struck by the similarity in theme from way back when and today. Judging from the message, not much has changed.

Today, we have Cindy Sheehan, back then we had Charles Lindbergh. and back then, they called themselves "The America First Committee." Basically, they were isolationists, and they opposed America's involvement in WWII. They didn't care who died overseas, as long as they had ice in their martinis here in the states.

Change the title to "Saddam the Wolf" or "Ahmadinejad the Wolf" and this cartoon is as applicable to the anti-war movement today as it was in 1941. Sadly, there will always be those among us who are willing to assist evil by closing their eyes and pretending that they don't see, those who would watch the fire from the safety of the other side of the street, those who would hurry past the alley and ignore the screams.

Is evil overseas any less evil because its overseas? To the anti-war crowd, the answer is a resounding yes.

In 1941, America First Committee's Founder, Charles Lindbergh, claimed that America was being pushed into war against Hitler by “the British, the Jewish and the Roosevelt administration.” Lindbergh claimed that the Jews were powerful because of their “large ownership and influence in our motion pictures, our press, our radio, and our government.”

Of course, Israel was not yet a state but, it sounds familiar, doesn't it?

A little research on The America First Committee brought up an excellent article by Ronald Radosh titled "Isolationism Strikes Again." Written in 2003, it addresses the similarities between peace activists during WWII and today.

The naysayers opposed to the campaign for liberation of Iraq, and the doomsday scenario they laid out, struck those of us with knowledge of history with an eerie sense of déjà vu. The isolationism that was employed to undermine American will and self-confidence in fighting the fascist and militarist aggressors in World War II has been revived, this time targeted against our President and our commitment to the liberation of Iraq.

So much is made of the polls that show that America is weary of the war, and today, the democrats hope to take the Whilte House and surrender in Iraq. In 1941, the polls showed that while 60 percent of the American public favored aid to Britain, less than 13 percent were willing to see the U.S. go to war with Nazi Germany, even if it meant that Britain would lose.

FDR acted against the tide, daring to show true leadership by advancing policies that would deal with the actual threat, while skillfully avoiding the wrath of the isolationist lobby and Congress. Today, George W. Bush shows his ability for comparable leadership, by moving ahead to do what is necessary, taking the nation with him, and ignoring the protestors, the disgruntled opposition anti-war Democrats, and the fierce opposition of the French and German governments.

Its true, the more things change, the more they remain the same.

---------------------

But... it is still Dr. Seuss' birthday, and this was supposed to be a fun post, before I got distracted. So... in honor of the occassion, I thought I'd drag this out of the closet:

MREs are Yummy - NOT!

We Do Not Like Them Uncle Sam
"MREs. Yum. Not!"

A collection of Dr. Seuss Political Cartoons can be found at Dr. Seuss Went to War: A Catalog of Political Cartoons

and... the answer to the question of the day: There are only 50 words in Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham." In 1960 Bennett Cerf bet Geisel $50 that he couldn't write an entire book using only fifty words. Green Eggs and Ham was result.

BTW... Cerf never paid the $50.

I am officially on vacation, the first I've had in several years. Posting this next week might be sporadic.

Today's dose of bullshit

Here's Matt Drudge spreading palestinian propaganda from the AP:

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Israeli troops turned heavy firepower on rocket squads bombarding southern Israel Saturday, killing 54 Palestinians in the deadliest day in Gaza since the current round of fighting erupted in 2000.

Except... that's not quite true, some of the dead palestinians were killed by the palestinians themselves:

According to Palestinian sources, at least 16 of those killed were civilians, including a baby - reported to have been struck when a Palestinian rocket misfired - and two teenagers. Palestinian gunmen bombarded Israel with at least 50 rockets and mortar rounds the evening, undeterred by Israeli troops backed by tanks and attack aircrafts.

and...

Hamas's armed wing, Izzadin Kassam, claimed responsibility for firing five rockets at Israel, one of which misfired, wounding five Gazans.

Never mind the truth, just blindly support the terrorists in their efforts to kill the Jews and blame the Jews when they fight back. And... there's no need to mention the end result of those 50 rockets shot by palestinian terrorists into Israeli towns:

Twenty-two residents of Sderot and Ashkelon were transported to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment Saturday after being injured by the rocket salvo on the two southern cities.

Three of the city's residents, two of them children, were injured by shrapnel.

Oh, and by the way, the children who were injured? They were asleep in their beds when a rocket fell on their home. and... those were not just any rockets. They were Iranian rockets.

There is only way to improve the situation in Gaza, and that's with daisy cutters.
