Jesus or Barack?

This quiz is downright creepy:

Questions like this:

How did I do? Correct on nine of out ten, I passed on the question about the song lyrics. As if the questions weren't creepy enough, then it told me I was Jesus.

No, really!

I'm still shuddering.

Did they ask if Jesus' spiritual adviser ever used the phrase "G*d damn America"?

Spooky thing here, I just got done studying all four gospels, and I STILL got 6 out of 10. Truly unnerving.

One approach to teaching literature interpretation is the monomyth, sometimes referred to as the Hero checklist. Looking at the following list, if you know about various major figures from history, you can quickly see how they fit on the progression, for example, Moses, Oedipus, Jesus, Arthur, Luke Skywalker.

1. Oracle or prophecy foretells the birth of an unusual child.
2. The child is born under obscure or miraculous circumstances.
3. The child is raised by a foster parent.
4. The child must be hidden from dangerous, fearsome authority.
5. There is a period of training and growth under the tutelage of wise men.
6. A magic situation or condition is revealed to the boy as a young man.
7. The boy goes into the wilderness to seek self/truth.
8. In seeking truth and wisdom, the boy must combat demons/monsters.
9. After finding himself, the boy becomes a man and is accepted by others as a hero/savior, or he is used as a scapegoat.
10. The hero brings his message back to the tribe.
11. There is much discussion/resistance to the message by some.
12. Political upheaval results from the message.
13. The hero has a great following of loyal believers.
14. The hero is betrayed and sacrificed to maintain the status quo.
15. The hero returns miraculously as a spirit to confirm his message.
16. The hero is apotheosized or joined with the supreme being, often called At-One-Ment, or atonement.

Let’s see how Obama fits the profile:

1. According to him, both MLK and the Kennedy family predicted his coming
2. The confluence of a Kansas flake and a Kenyan fake in Hawaii is certainly strange, if not miraculous
3. Clearly a “yes” here, raised partially by stepfather and later by grandparents
4. Probably not, but I haven’t looked into it very thoroughly
5. Variety of exotic schools, including Islamic in early years and later prep schools
6. “Puff, the Magic Negro” fits neatly into the mix here, particularly how he’ll pay for his promises
7. I’d call Indonesia and Hawaii wildernesses for a half-white, half-black kid with an Asian stepfather
8. This is just too easy; monsters and demons for a mixed-race kid in America? Nah!! Never happen.
9. Don’t believe this one, just ask Oprah and the mainstream media
10. His books pretty well do this for him, Dreams From My Father [Africa], and Audacity of Hope
11. Again, much too easy here, particularly from Fox News
12. Man, you got THAT right, Obama, particularly your African sorties and the “Reverend” Wright
13. No Kidding! More like hysterical fans.
14. It could happen, especially if Hillary has anything to say about it at the convention.
15. Whether he’s nominated and/or elected or not, he will be regularly resurrected in future campaigns
16. The MSM, especially the liberal ones, have already deified him, so this is sort of a given.

I'm going to have to read my Bible more--both Old and New Testaments.

I got a 6 out of 10--and was then insulted by the quiz by being called Barack Obama. I hope that it is the LAST time that happens. (I only went to Punahou one summer, and it was for swimming, tennis, and beginning electronics classes. Really.)
