Reason #9438272874859
Why I don't watch television:
CBS’s Simon to Israeli Air Force Pilot: ‘You Don't Look Like a Killer’
On Sunday’s CBS "60 Minutes," anchor Bob Simon talked to members of the Israeli Air Force and asked one pilot, Captain Omri, about air strikes in the Gaza strip in which civilians occasionally are killed:
It's a classic guerilla war. Fifty dollar rockets made in the back alleys of Gaza against Israel's $50,000 missiles. The Israelis will tell you that kind of expense buys precise weapons which limit collateral damage. But it also gives the air force the capability of assassinating their enemy's leadership. The Israelis call this "targeted killings"; the Palestinians call it murder. Have you hit any targets?
Simon then went on to say to Omri: "But I must tell you, your face, your manners, your demeanor, you don't look like a killer. And yet what you do a lot of the time when you're over Gaza, you're killing." The pilot responded: "I agree. I don't think I'm a killer. When I look at my face in the mirror, I don't see a killer."
What would you expect from a man who yearns to recapture the days when he was held hostage and beaten by those who imprisoned him because he found the experience to be more intense than taking drugs?
He's more than just a moron, he's a friggin' moron.

Shabbat Shalom
Our Father in Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first manifestation of the approach of our redemption. Shield it with Your loving kindness, envelop it in Your peace, and bestow Your light and truth upon its leaders, ministers, and advisors, and grace them with Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of those who defend our holy land, grant them deliverance, and adorn them in a mantle of victory.
Ordain peace in the land and grant its inhabitants eternal happiness. Lead them, swiftly and upright, to Your city Zion and to Jerusalem, the abode of Your Name, as is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses: “Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the Lord your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.”
Draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah, and send us quickly the Messiah son of David, agent of Your vindication, to redeem those who await Your deliverance.
Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.

Miami Beach Synagogue Torched
Chabad synagogue in Miami torched
Synagogue's rabbi recounts: Individuals broke into synagogue, tore Torah books to pieces and torched them
Ze'ev Katz, the synagogue's head rabbi, recounted the event on one of Chabad's internet websites, saying that a number of individuals broke into the empty synagogue, took the Torah books from the cabinet, tore them to pieces, and set them on fire.
The damage. (Photo: Shtoram.net)Katz said the view of the burned synagogue was dismal. Miami police have commenced investigations.
Chabad rabbis in the US assumed that the purpose of the attack was to target areas in which large amounts of Chabad Jews gather outside of Israel. The rabbis also said that the majority of anti-Semitic activity that takes place in the US is perpetrated by the Muslim community.
This is not the first time a Synagogue has been torched in Miami Beach, last October another was damaged by fire, but it was deemed to be an accident. Swastikas and anti-Jewish statements spray painted outside a Yeshiva, just a few blocks from my home in North Miami Beach, last year was deemed to be youthful vandalism.
The FBI agreed to investigage, but they don't want to call this torching a hate crime - yet. Maybe they will, but likely, they won't.
I can't possibly express all of the things I am feeling about this right now.
Shabbat Services will be held on the lawn tomorrow, join us if you are able.
And, if you are so inclined, you can donate to help us rebuild.

Success
This is reason # 9483628 why I'm glad I gave up television:
I don't want to watch former conservative leaders making fools of themselves as they shift their position further left and pander to the loony liberals. It turns my stomach.
I have always been a fan of Newt Gingrich. A personalized, autographed copy of his book, Winning the Future, has been propped up in a place of honor on my bookshelf for years, right next to a framed photograph of the two of us taken the day he signed it. Over the weekend, I felt an urge to do a bit of redecorating... the book and the photograph are now out of sight.
They ended up in a box at the top of my closet, the box where things go that once meant so much to me, things that I am now done with. Its not a big box, and because I'm not quitter, its not a full box. But I don't tilt at windmills, and when I'm done with something, well, I'm done.
The items in the box include the framed gold embossed ticket to the George "you're with us or against us" Bush fundraiser I attended in 2004, that went in the box the day after Bush strolled around the Rose Garden hand in hand with his pet terrorist, Mahmoud Abbas. Also in the box, the coffee mug bearing the words "I blog for Fred" that used to hold the pens on my desk, inside that is the "I'm With Fred" button that I used to wear on my lapel. And as I put the top back on the box, and pushed it into the farthest and deepest corner at the top of my closet, I realized that the box holds one additional item, the part of me that is was a political activist.
I am disgusted, disgusted with politicians, political parties and the political process in this Country. I don't want to be a part of it anymore. Its hard to tell what the straw was that broke my back, it was not the video above, that was just the icing on the cake, but it may have been an accidental click on a button that used to be on my website and one word. It could very well be that in the end, it took just one word to change the course of my life, and to kill that part of me that believed in the political process in this country. One word, floating on my computer screen, on an otherwise pristine page at a political website put up to support a candidate I believed in. One word:
If you clicked on the picture, then you too now know what that one word is.
Fred Thompson is using one word to describe the results of his run for president, and if you haven't looked, that one word is "success." Yes, Fred Thomspson considers his "campaign" to be a "success." Its a strange word to use for what is an abject failure, and it reveals exactly what the goals of Fred Thompson's "candidacy" really was, to muddy the waters and to allow John McCain to emerge from the sludge with the nomination. That is Fred Thompson's "success."
Congratulations to you, Fred, on your successful manipulation of conservative voters, and your successful manipulation of the political process. Congratulations! You used conservatives to help a liberal win the republican nomination. Thank you, Fred, you lying manipulative bastard, thank you for taking my money under false pretenses, for playing a game with the future of this country and for making a fool out of me and every other conservative who believed in the political process and who believed in your lying ass. Thank you, and fuck you!
Thanks in part to you Fred, here we are in 2008, in the midst of the run up to the presidential election, and all three "frontrunners" for the presidency are loony liberal nutjobs.

This is what the republicans have given us this year and I don't know about you, but I'm reminded of Johnny Rotten's words at the end of the last Sex Pistols concert... "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"
Damn right, I feel cheated.
The bottom line is... when it comes to the issues that matter, the issues that will effect how we live our lives here in the United States of America, the only real difference between the three candidates is their stated position on the war, all of them are loony friggin liberals. I have to wonder, will there be anything left of this country after the war?
There can be no doubt that this country is in an economic crisis that is exacerbated by Al Gore's pseudo science global warming nonsense. Its getting worse every day. I'm not going to bother with links to prove this, forget about what you're paying for a gallon of gas and look at what you're paying for a gallon of milk and a box of corn flakes. You don't need links to see how much your grocery bill has gone up.
Ask yourself, are you willing to accept the coming "global warming" backlash? Its bad enough now, what will it be like when our next president implements mandatory carbon credits? The first victims will be the evil corporations because "they can afford it," except... they won't have to afford it. They will cut staff and raise prices, they'll pass it down to the consumer to pay via higher prices, and guess what? We are the consumer.
How many jobs will be lost due to downsizing and corporations closing because they simply cannot continue to do business? After hitting the corporations, well then... its on to the city and state, and the increased taxes for carbon use that will certainly raise taxes, your taxes. Where do you really think that money is going to come from?
Don't like the cost of gas now? Forget about using our resources, there will be no drilling for oil around here and just wait till they hit us with a fifty-cent carbon surcharge per gallon. All three candidates support it and therefore, its going to happen. Add that to the increased cost of living and increased taxes. Add that to higher unemployment due to downsizing and closed business and the resulting lower wages, and ask yourself, how much can this country take?
Well, I sure hope that, on top of all that carbon credit global warming bullshit, this country can take a major hike in taxes, it doesn't matter which of the three gets in, your taxes are going up because all three of them think they should. Never mind that McCain now says he is for the Bush tax cuts, he'd like for you to forget that he sided against them with the democrats and he voted against them in the Senate.
I sure hope that this country can take on the costs of supporting millions and millions of illegal aliens because the three of them are all about open borders, and amnesty for the criminal hordes. I hope you don't mind being one of the hundreds of thousands of victims of illegal aliens committing car thefts, insurance fraud, driving while drunk with no license and, oh yeah, identity theft.
I hope you don't mind being one of the 13 Americans killed every day by illegal aliens on our highways or one of the 12 Americans killed every day by illegal aliens wielding guns and knives and baseball bats. I hope you don't mind being one of the victims of the 618,000 convicted illegal alien felons languishing in our prisons and I hope you don't mind paying for the police to catch them, the courts to try them and their incarceration to the tune of $1.6 billion annually.
I hope you don't mind being one of the 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis, or one of the 7,000 new cases of leprosy, or one of the countless thousands of cases of hepatitis, Dengue Fever, Chagas Disease, new AIDS cases or one of the thousands of other diseases brought across our borders and transmitted to us by illegal aliens.
I hope you don't mind paying $1.75 billion annually for anchor babies, and $2.45 billion in K-12 annually educating those babies. I hope you don't mind being one of 10,468,150 people who lost their skilled jobs to an illegal alien who is willing to work for less. They're not all picking tomatoes yannow.
I hope you don't mind the 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders coming across U.S. borders illegally every day and I sure hope one of your loved ones will not suffer through one of the 130,909 sex crimes committed annually by illegal aliens.
Worried about the War on Terror? Good, because you should be. I know I am, and I also know that closing GITMO and bringing terrorists here into the United States prison system will bring jihad to the streets of America and if you think it won't, you must be a fool as well as a liberal.
Our prison system is already fertile breeding ground for jihad, angry violent black men are converting to islam by the thousands each and every day. One by one, they will be released into the streets of America.
If you tried to think of the perfect way to make that situation worse, you might come up with a plan to close GITMO and put those hardened and experienced terrorists into our prison system, men for whom jihad is not just ideology but a life style, terrorists who are familiar with the ways to wage war on civilians. Brilliant idea, isn't it, to give these hardened and experienced terrorists a captive audience made up of angry, violent, hate-filled American citizens and the opportunity to recruit and train and initiate them into Jihad, and to then release the new converts into the streets of American where they can disappear into the criminal underground, convert other Americans, and wage jihad on us all.
McCain, Obama and Hillary want to close down Gitmo and give terrorists access to our prison system and all of them are against using aggressive interrogation tactics to find out when and where the next terrorist attack might be. I hope you are not one of the victims in the next attack, but someone will be, in fact, many someones will be.
Do these ideas sound good to you? I hope so, because no matter who emerges victorious in November, America will have the liberal agenda shoved down our throats.
All you people out there who support McCain as being better than Hillary or Obama, please stop telling me he is “the official new leader of the conservative movement in America.” If you believe that's what he is, well then, I guess you have been holding your nose for so long that you have forgotten what a conservative smells like.
Its your right to pull that lever come November and vote for the liberal agenda. I just hope you're ready to suffer the consequences.
But me, well, I can't help but think about what the consequences will be if this liberal agenda is put into place by a republican.
I have to ask myself, "What's worse, a moderate seeming Republican President who can garner support for the liberal agenda.....or a wild eyed Leftist who cannot?"
When it comes to that liberal agenda, McCain will be more successful at putting those things in place than Obama, or even Hillary. Why? Well, McCain, as a perceived "moderate republican," will be able to garner support from the party republicans and the moderate democrats in Congress. They will back him, whereas they would likely view Obama and/or Hillary as extremist and fight them.
After four years of liberal rule by a republican president, what do think our chances will be 2012? Make no mistake, if the horrors of a liberal agenda come to pass under McCain, it will be deemed the failed policies of the republicans. A liberal agenda put in place by a republican will destroy any chances we have to stop this insanity in 2012.
On the other hand, an extremist democrat would not garner the same level of support and will likely have to fight every step of the way. That's a good thing. And, if its Hillary or Obama who implement some, or even all of these policies, then yes, America will still suffer but it will be an obvious liberal democrat at fault and not a liberal in conservative clothing.
If McCain is successful, it will be a deemed a republican presidential fiasco and leave us holding the bag in the next election cycle. Holding that bag is likely to mean that rather then four years, we will have eight, and maybe twelve years of liberal rule. If Obama or Hillary are successful, well... then America will see what comes of socialist thinking, appeasement and the liberal agenda, put in place by a democrat. Then, we might get things straightened out in 2012.
I won't be voting for McCain in November, and I won't be voting for Hillary or Obama either. This one will have to be decided without me because I don't vote for liberal democrats, I never have and I never will.

Lynchings in Congo as penis theft panic hits capital
KINSHASA (Reuters) - Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.
Rumours of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo's sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.Purported victims, 14 of whom were also detained by police, claimed that sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear, in what some residents said was an attempt to extort cash with the promise of a cure.
"You just have to be accused of that, and people come after you. We've had a number of attempted lynchings. ... You see them covered in marks after being beaten," Kinshasa's police chief, Jean-Dieudonne Oleko, told Reuters on Tuesday.
Police arrested the accused sorcerers and their victims in an effort to avoid the sort of bloodshed seen in Ghana a decade ago, when 12 suspected penis snatchers were beaten to death by angry mobs. The 27 men have since been released.
"I'm tempted to say it's one huge joke," Oleko said.
"But when you try to tell the victims that their penises are still there, they tell you that it's become tiny or that they've become impotent. To that I tell them, 'How do you know if you haven't gone home and tried it'," he said.

No clear winner emerged
from the Annual Holy Frond Fight in Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre:

Christian Armenian worshippers scuffle with Israeli policemen inside Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Israeli police rushed into the church to break up fist fights between dozens of Greek and Armenian worshippers on Orthodox Palm Sunday, witnesses said. (AFP/Gali Tibbon)
Israeli police rushed into Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre to break up fist fights between dozens of Greek and Armenian worshippers on Orthodox Palm Sunday, witnesses said. Some 20 officers intervened after Armenian worshippers threw a Greek Orthodox priest out of the church, sparking a free-for-all, they said.
Several worshippers then started beating the police officers with palm fronds they were holding for the Palm Sunday celebrations that mark the return of Jesus to the Holy City a week before he was crucified.
After the incident, dozens of members of Jerusalem's Armenian community marched from the church to the Old City's police headquarters in protest at the detention of two Armenians.
Brawls are not uncommon at the church, which is shared by various branches of Christianity, each of which controls and jealously guards part of site -- considered one of the holiest in Christianity.
Precisely in order to prevent such disturbances, two Muslim families have been entrusted for the past 800 years with opening and closing the gates of the church, a cavernous labyrinth of chapels and crypts built on the site where many Christians believe Jesus was crucified and buried.
Over 800 years of brawling in church, now that's what I call tradition. Really, it just wouldn't be Easter without it!

How demented is this?
From Salon.com's Advice Column:
She's decided not to have a child because she can't know in advance whether or not the child would want to exist. Makes you wonder what she's been smoking, doesn't it? On a demented scale of 1 to 10, I'd give that thought process a 15, however, the psychobabble she got in reply might be worthy of a 16...
[This] implies that many other things we create may also take their revenge on us in ways we do not understand: that novels may refuse to be sold or read and paintings may refuse to be seen, that music may refuse to be played properly and movies refuse to be shown. It might explain why so many works of art seem to find such poor fates: They are taking revenge on their creators. They did not want to exist in the first place. They resent us. They laugh at us. They scorn our pitiable attempts to create beauty. They show each other their scars, like cosmetic surgery victims in the waiting room of torts attorneys. Perhaps they despise us for our hubris, too, for acting like gods so poorly, for not knowing our limits.
Yannow, she went to the wrong place for answers. She should have come to me:
No. Other people do not think that way. Do the world a favor, put down the bong for a moment and give some consideration to the needs and wants of those of us already here, those of us who would really prefer that people like you did not procreate. We would be eternally grateful if you would stick to that very good decision to stay the heck out of the gene pool. Lord knows its polluted enough. Oh... and by the way, please stay the heck out of the voting booth as well.
sheesh. If stupidity were painful, I know at least three people who would be in agony.

Move 'em out of Gaza
(IsraelNN.com) Eighty percent of the residents of Gaza find it difficult to cope with the situation there and are considering emigration, a survey by the Gaza-based Institute of Development Studies has found. Gazans are finding it progressively more difficult to deal with the economic situation there, according to the institute, and 44 percent said explicitly that they want to leave Gaza.
The findings of a Near East Consulting poll released Tuesday showed that some 94 percent of Gaza residents believe their economic situation under Hamas rule is significantly worse than it was before the terrorist organization took over the region. Hamas ousted the rival Fatah faction in what amounted to a civil war. Now Hamas controls Gaza; Fatah controls the PA areas of Judea and Samaria. In elections before the military coup a majority of the Arabs who live in those areas voted for Hamas.
The survey, which polled 900 Gaza residents, found that 64 percents of respondents live under the poverty line. More than two out of every five, (41 percent) said they would leave Gaza immediately if they could. Half of those polled feel less security since Hamas took over the region in June 2007 and 18 percent feel no change in the level of security. Some 32 percent said they feel more security since Hamas took control of Gaza.
There are less than 5 milliion arabs registered as refugees with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). UNRWA’s sole purpose is to help the "palestinian refugees." Its regular cash and in-kind budget for 2007 is $505 million dollars, but no matter what the budget, its never enough. Every year, UNRWA launches repeated emergency appeals for emergency food, employment and cash assistance, in 2007 UNRWA was begging for an additional $246 million to cover emergency needs, yes, $246 million dollars above and beyond its $505 million dollar budget.
Over $700 million dollars was spent by UNRWA in 2007 alone, to keep 5 million arabs living in what is claimed to be sub-human conditions, in poverty and starvation. Over seven hundred million dollars in cash money, and that's without factoring in millions in aid sent directly to the Palestinian Authority in cold cash, food, medicine, and of course, weapons.
Seven hundred million dollars in one year, to support five million people living in poverty. Think about how much money has been spent by UNWRA over time, or even in just the past 10 years.
Why not give each and every so-called refugee arab the money to move to the islamic country of their choice, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, England, France, Indonesia, where they would be free to live their lives amongst their people, under the islamic laws they so desire? Why not put an end to the insanity of the "palestinian refugee" problem once and for all?
Why is the world at large so opposed to the dismantling of the camps and giving them the freedom to choose their own destiny, to make a life for themselves?
By its own admission, UNRWA "is by far the largest United Nations operation in the Middle East." It employs some "24,324 staff, of whom more than 99 per cent are locally-recruited Palestinians, almost all of them Palestine refugees." UNRWA's international staff posts and senior staff posts are paid for by the UN, the World Health Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and yet...
Staff costs account for two-thirds of the Agency's regular budget.
Think about that for a minute. According to the UNRWA website, international and senior staff are paid by other organizations. That means that two-thirds of the budget, two-thirds of $505 million dollars, is spent on staff costs, staff that consists of 24,324 palestinians. Oh how I would love to go over their checkbooks.
All that money spent all these years past, we are talking about billions and billions of donated dollars, and these arabs are no better off. Why? They are pawns in a much bigger game, big business, UN business. If the camps were dismantled and the people absorbed into other arab countries, as they should have been right from the beginning, the UN would have nothing to talk about at their meetings, no resolutions to pass, no one to condemn, nothing to do whatsoever.
That is one reason why the palestinians are forced into "refugee" camps by the UN and kept there for decades, and the other reason is, the destruction of Israel.
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct 'Palestinian people' to oppose Zionism." -- PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein, 1977
All that money is spent, year after year, decade after decade, supposedly to support a fictional people who do not exist except as pawns to be used by others to destroy the State of Israel, money spent solely to support UNRWA officials and palestinian leaders, and to fight the existence of Israel.
All that money certainly isn't helping the "poor downtrodden palestinians," who obviously would prefer to get out of the game and get on with their lives.
There is only one way to help the palestinians:
They want it.
The problem is, the world doesn't pay any attention whatsoever to what the "palestinian people" want, and the world won't listen to them either, unless of course, they are complaining about the evil Jews in Israel. That's when the world listens.

Terrorists for Obama
Now here's an endorsement Obama can be proud of:
... the Hamas terrorist organization has expressed the "hope" that Senator Barack Hussein Obama will win the presidential elections and change America's foreign policy.
Even though Obama has said that he would not meet with Hamas unless it renounces violence and recognizes Israel, or becomes the recognized leadership of the Palestinians -- he has no qualms about holding talks with the leadership of Iran, Syria, and North Korea -- that doesn't seem to bother the Hamas leadership.
"We like Mr. Obama, and we hope that he will win the elections," Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas' top political adviser in the Gaza Strip, said in an exclusive interview with World Net Daily and with the John Batchelor Show on WABC Radio in New York.
He saw Obama's comments about Hamas as political posturing that was understandable to lull supporters of Israel before the election.
"I understand American politics and this is the season for elections and everybody tries to sound like he's a friend of the Israelis," he said. All that would change if Obama would get elected. "I hope Mr. Obama and the Democrats will change the political discourse....
I bet you won't see that in your morning paper, but you can listen to it here:
Amazing! This Hamasshole, the chief political whatever for Hamas, claims that "eveyone knows Hamas is moderate movement," blames their reputation for being terrorists on Israeli propaganda, and claims the rockets Hamas fires on Israeli citizens are "self defense." Most amazingly, Hamas is the claiming to be the victim.
UPDATE: Barack Obama’s campaign said yesterday it is “flattered” that Hamas’ endorsement of the Illinois senator compared him to John F. Kennedy...
I said he'd be proud and I was right.

Life in an islamic state part II
As a follow up to this:
You'll be happy to know that Yemen's islamic court has decided to terminate her "marriage" because she had not yet reached puberty and...
The court also ordered the child's family to pay about $250 in compensation to the 30-year-old ex-husband.
In poverty sticken Yemen, that's a nice chunk of change, paid to a pedophile, as compensation for losing his child bride. No word on what the child's future will hold, but hey, at least they didn't stone her to death for her sexual transgressions. I'm sure the family has plans for her, after all, they will have to restore their honor, won't they?

Welcome to Israel
What does daily life look like in Israel and the Palestinian territory? Two editors of the Arabic desk of Radio Netherlands Worldwide, Nicolien den Boer and Abir Sarras, will be - separately - travelling through the region in the coming weeks.
Their trip coincides with the 60th anniversary of the state of Israel and the commemoration of the naqba (catastrophe) for the Palestinians. They are keeping a travel diary.
In the first contribution of Nicolien den Boer: five hours at Tel Aviv airport.
It’s 4 a.m. at Tel Aviv Airport and this is the third time I’ve been questioned so far. My passport has stamps from various Arab countries: Dubai, Yemen and archenemy Syria. Finally I get my passport back and am allowed to enter.
If they treat me, a Dutch woman like this, what’s it like for a Palestinian? I’d started going on about getting the Dutch embassy involved. I even rang them up - they were closed, of course. But a Palestinian wouldn’t have any embassy to call. I’m trying not to think in simplistic terms of ‘good guy, bad guy’, but it’s difficult.
I save my complaint for the government press office in Jerusalem, where I go to pick up my press card the next day. “Security measures,” is the explanation I get from the press officer, a tired looking woman by the name of Pnina Aizenman. “What do you think it’s like for us, waking up each morning and never knowing what the day will bring?” she says, clearly referring to Palestinian suicide attacks on Israeli civilians.
While Pnina’s busy getting my press card ready, I take a look at the photos of children and a newspaper article on the wall behind me. The article is about a woman who lost her mother and her five-year-old child in a Palestinian suicide bombing. The name of the woman is Pnina Aizenman. I get the shivers. “That’s you,” I stammer. “Yes. Do you understand now what I mean by security measures?” she replies. I suddenly feel ashamed that I’ve just been complaining about being kept waiting for five hours when this woman’s life has been totally wrecked by a bomb.
Reality sucks sometimes, doesn't it?

Zimbabwe opposition accuses Mossad of helping Mugabe:
An aide to Zimbabwean opposition leader Simba Makoni alleged ahead of Saturday's election that the Mossad had been hired by President Robert Mugabe to ensure he won by computerized rigging of the vote.
Slideshow: Pictures of the week Ibbo Mandaza, a senior member of Makoni's campaign team, told the Mail & Guardian that the voters' roll had been manipulated to favor the ruling ZANU-PF and that the format of the voter's roll was devised by the Mossad on instructions from the Zimbabwean government.
Mandaza said that ZANU-PF asked for Mossad help because of the intelligence agency's experience with elections in other countries.
"They have expertise in vote-rigging. Also, Mossad is looking for any kind of support and alliances and therefore Zimbabwe is the obvious target," he said.
There was no comment from Israeli officials, of course not, why would there be? Those of us who need to know about these things just get the memo, do what needs to be done, and more on to the next conspiracy. Honestly, if we commented on everything, every time we got caught, we would be forever in explanations and denials and we would have no time to take over the world. Now we have both the Vatican and oh-so-important country of Zimbabwe under our control and we can move on to the more important things, like colonizing the moon. Soon, the universe will be ours!
Meanwhile, the dwindling Jewish community of Zimbabwe expressed pessimism about the future in the country.
There are an estimated 300 Jews left in Zimbabwe, most of them living in Harare and Bulawayo, and many of them elderly. At its peak in the 1960s, the community numbered about 7,500.
Why would anyone want to live in that third-world shithole? Get out! Get out now!

Amen

I hate memes
Chrissie tagged me with the "memoir" meme (and no, I won't kill you this time), she got hit by our friend Deltsman. You're supposed to write a six word memoir about yourself. I confess, when it comes to memes, my usual M.O. is to just ignore them, mostly because they are either too personal or too corny. I got curious though, about what other people said, and I followed it back through quite a few linkies.
Surprise! It was at least a little interesting, especially how different people viewed the "assignment." Some people wrote more of an epitaph, others, like Chrissie, just used six words that described either themselves or their lives or their loves, and others summed up what could only be called their philosphy of life.
If I went with the epitaph thingie, well, it occured to me that I already had something similiar posted in my sidebar:
"an ignorant Jewish girl from Brooklyn"
I've received a lot of comments about that over the years, but I keep it there anyways, because, like the name of my blog, it means something to me. The line was thrown at me in my youth, and I'll repeat now what I said back then: hey, I'd much rather be ignorant than stupid, you can cure ignoranace with a library card but alas, there is no cure for stupidity.
The name of my blog, "Something... and Half of Something" is a literal translation from the Talmud, it is one of the few instances of sarcasm to be found there. In context, to say someone knows "something and half of something" is to say they know nothing.
Both statements are really about the same thing, seeking knowledge. If the meme were three words instead of six, it would be easier for me, I would sum up by saying:
I wanna know.
Okay, so, the meme is six words, not three, but if I add another aspect of my personality, it would fit:
I wanna know it all now
Yes, I am impatient. Very impatient. Along with always being just a little late... its one of my character defects.
Okay, then. Now I'm supposed to inflict this meme upon five others, that's the hard part. This kind of thing doesn't fit on the kinds of blogs I generally read, which tend to focus more on politics and snark than mushy memes.
So... hmmm... I guess I'll torture GothGuy (hey, you wanted to be a blogger!), Vilmar, and Nigel (revenge for beavis and butthead!!!), and... oh wait... I'll hit Rose! and... OceanGuy!
There! I did my internet meme for the year. I can now ignore all the rest with a clean conscience.

Guess Who?
Guess who is meeting with Hamas?
NEW YORK CITY — Former President Jimmy Carter is reportedly preparing an unprecedented meeting with the leader of Hamas, an organization that the U.S. government considers one of the leading terrorist threats in the world.
The Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat reported Tuesday that Carter was planning a trip to Syria for mid-April, during which he would meet with Khaled Meshal, the exiled head of the Palestinian terror group Hamas, on April 18.
This is an outstanding opportunity for Hamas! Is it too much to hope for, that Al-Hayat will realize what a wonderful hostage Jimmy Carter would make? I sure would like to see a video of his sorry ass sitting in front of bunch of jihadis with a flag, some AKs and at least one kitchen knife. Yep, I'd call that a win-win situation, just think! Carter could give his all for his principles and beliefs, and we would be spared having to listen to the happy horseshit that pours out of his mouth every time he opens it. I'd call it poetic justice, and it would surely be a very fitting end to a very stupid man.
And... as long as we're playing guess who, guess who said this...
… I am opposed to an independent Palestinian state, because in my own judgement and in the judgement of many leaders in the Middle East, including Arab leaders, this would be a destabilizing factor in the Middle East and would certainly not serve the United States interests.
———-
…we oppose the creation of an independent Palestinian state. The United States, as all of you know, has a warm and unique relationship of friendship with Israel that is morally right. It is compatible with our deepest religious convictions, and it is right in terms of America’s own strategic interests.
———-
We are committed to Israel’s security, prosperity, and future as a land that has so much to offer to the world. A strong Israel and a strong Egypt serve our own security interests. We are committed to Israel’s right to live in peace with all its neighbors, within secure and recognized borders, free from terrorism. We are committed to a Jerusalem that will forever remain undivided with free access to all faiths to the holy places. Nothing will deflect us from these fundamental principles and committments.
The answer is... Jimmy Carter and he said it back in 1980. I wonder, what was it that deflected him from those fundamental principles and committments? How did Carter get from there to here:

I suppose we'll never know.

In case you forgot...
A gang of British Muslims planned to blow up seven planes within hours in the biggest terrorist atrocity since 9/11, a court heard yesterday.
Two thousand passengers would have died in the plot by eight fanatics working "in the name of Islam", the jury was told.
It could have involved up to 18 suicide bombers. And they were almost ready to strike.
The jets they targeted would all have been bound from Heathrow to cities in the U.S. and Canada, it was claimed.
Once the first had exploded the authorities would have had to watch, powerless, as the six others were downed.
Plastic soft-drink bottles were to be the murder weapon - filled with explosive and connected to a detonator.
Had it been successful, the death toll would have far eclipsed the 52 killed on July 7, 2005, when four suicide bombers detonated their rucksacks on the London transport system.
And if the conspirators chose to blow themselves up over land, the number of casualties in the air and on the ground could have exceeded the Twin Towers attacks in which nearly 3,000 died.
Here they are... having their day in court, complete with laptop...

Plastic Oasis and Lucozade bottles were to be used by the plotters to make their liquid bombs.
A hypodermic syringe would be inserted into the base to draw out the drink and the bomb mixture would be injected in its place.
A homemade detonator called hexamethylene triperoxide and also known as HMTD would be made from a mixture of household and commercial ingredients and disguised in AA batteries.
Bulbs and wires would connect the bomb mixture with disposable cameras to trigger a charge to set it off.
... the fanatics hoped to hoodwink airport security officers by putting pornographic magazines and condoms in their hand luggage to indicate that they could not be Muslim zealots, the court was told.
Know thy enemy... it is Islam.

The Golan Heights Model
Because nothing succeeds like success...
Have you ever asked yourself where the safest place in Israel is? Where do you not have to worry about Arabs throwing rocks at your car? Where can you walk around at night without fear of arms or drugs smugglers crossing the border? Where don't missiles fly and where don't bombs explode? In short, where is the place that you are safest from both external enemies and from internal Arab terror and crime?
That place is the Golan Heights. Without even trying, possibly even by mistake, Israel enjoys real peace there. Any new peace plan must follow the principles that have brought us true peace in the Golan.
There are just five easy steps...

Teach your children well...
Child Stabs President Bush to Death and Turns the White House into a Mosque in a Hamas TV Puppet Show
Following is an excerpt from a puppet show, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV on March 30, 2008.
Bush: Who are you? What brings you to my home? How did they let you in, boy? My guards! My soldiers! Get this boy out of here.
Child: Nobody will take me out of here.
Bush: Who are you to come here and threaten me?! You are on my own turf, you little child, you! Get out. My dear, bring your father, your grandfather, or your mother, so I can talk to them. Get somebody older and smarter than you. What, you came here on your own?
Child: You killed daddy in the Iraq war. It's true, you killed him in the Iraq war. As for my mom – you and the criminal Zionists killed her in Lebanon. You and the criminal Zionists also killed my younger and older brothers in the Gaza holocaust. I'm an orphan, you criminal!
Bush: What are you talking about? Where did you come from? Don't I have enough troubles already? Where did you come from?
Child: I have come to take revenge with this sword – revenge for my mother and my sisters. You are a criminal, Bush! You are despicable. You made me an orphan! You took everything from me, Bush! I must take revenge on you, with this sword of Islam, the Prophet's Al-Battar sword.
Bush: No... No, my dear. I give you my word that this is it. I repent, just don't kill me. Where are my guards? Where are my people? Help! Help! He wants to kill me. Help!
Child: There are no guards, and your people have surrendered, Bush. I have not come alone, Bush. I have brought thousands of thousands of children from Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. You have denied all these children their fathers and mothers. That's why I have come to take revenge on you and on all the criminal traitors who collaborated with you.
Bush: Okay, fine, that's enough. I will give you whatever you want from me.
Child: What can you give me? All I want is one thing. Bring back my father and mother. I don't want anything from you. I don't want anything from you, just bring back my father and mother. I place my trust in Allah. I need to kill you.
Bush: No, my dear. Enough. I will give you anything you want. I also... Enough with that. Come with all your friends to the White House. I will give you food and toys. We will sit in the White House and talk. You will get whatever you need.
Child: You are impure, Bush, so you are not allowed inside the White House.
Bush: What are you saying?! Why am I not allowed into the White House?
Child: Because it has been turned into a great mosque for the nation of Islam. I will kill you just like Mu'az killed Abu Lahab. I will kill you, Bush, because that is your fate.
Child stabs Bush repeatedly
Child: Ahhh, I killed him.
You can be sure that the next generation of "palestinians" will be even more bloodthirsty and murderous as this generation, and the generation before, and the generation before, and the generation before. In the arab world, that's called progress.
And like the generation before, and the generation before, and the generation before, this next generation has no conscience, no soul, no compassion, no empathy, no values. They desire only death and destruction, that is the sum total of their hopes and dreams and that is their only goal.
This next generation will be coming for you, and for your children, and they'll be bringing their guns and their bomb belts and yes, their swords, all which have been paid for with your tax dollars. It is what they have been raised to do, trained to do, it is what they have been born to do. And make no mistake, with every condemnation of Israel, with every U.N. Resolution, with every bit of support from the international community, with every "Free Palestine" rally on the streets of the world, with every U.S. dollar sent, it is what America and the rest of the world is helping them to do.
H/T for the vid: Kickin' and Screamin'.

On Sunday’s CBS "60 Minutes," anchor Bob Simon talked to members of the Israeli Air Force and asked one pilot, Captain Omri, about air strikes in the Gaza strip in which civilians occasionally are killed:
