Tears of Joy!
My old friend, Walter Van Der Veer, is no longer locked up in a cuban prison, he's home. He's been home since early March, alive, but bearing the scars of his torture in Castro's prison. This video is in Spanish, but Walter speaks in English.
Welcome home Walter. I never forgot you, and I never gave up hope.

"How can anybody defend the tyranny of Castro?"
*the ending creditos* Mr. Van Der Veer is effed up for the rest of his life. It's gonna take some major work to get him back to a semblance of true normalcy.
Good on him to have gotten back alive.
Raul will join his big brother in the hottest part of hell along with tee shirt boy.
G-d's blessings on you Mr. Van Der Veer.

Amazing, they let him vote in the American elections, and he voted for Bush!
But, when he said "I don't understand why the cubans forgot about me," it just broke my heart.
It's true. I tried many times to get the exile community to make an effort about Walter, and they shunned me over and over again. It seems that no matter how much Walter cared about the cause, the cause didn't care about Walter. Once he was no longer useful, they had no use for him.
I suppose the same will one day be true with me and my causes.
Sigh.
When I was a young lady, back in the early 1980s, nothing made me happier than the sound of Walter's motorcycle pulling up, that and the sight of it already there. I was more than a little in love with Walter. He, of course, never knew.
Oh, and how my father hated him!
So many memories of those days have paraded through my mind, along with all of the people I was close to back then. They're lost to me now, I have no idea where they are or what they're doing.
It appears that melancholy has set in.
Sigh.

Love your site, we need more sites like this. After been in Israel and an ardent Zionist, your website is a breath of fresh air.
