In Memory
of the Fallen:
Please don't wish me, or anyone else, a "happy" Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day for somber remembrance of the brave men and women who were killed in action defending this great Nation and the freedom of every man, woman and child throughout the world.
If you're "celebrating" with a backyard barbeque, take a moment and lift a glass, have a moment of silence, in their honor, remember the sacrifice made for you, and pray for the comfort of their loved ones left behind.
Loved ones like Kristen Nelson.

I had a bit to say about that too, posted it yesterday, I am glad I am not the only one that sees this in the same light...
Don’t wish me a Happy Memorial Day, there is nothing happy in this day for me, it is a day that fills me with serious reflection and memories of warriors and friends that I won’t see again until we all meet for the BIG muster…
Wish me a Happy Veterans Day, Happy New Year, Happy Birthday and the like, but offer prayers and condolences for our war dead this weekend, don’t denigrate their memory by wishing a HAPPY Memorial Day…
Happy Memorial Day makes about as much sense as Santa Claus does to the true meaning of Christmas and the bunny does to Easter, for many this is nothing more than an excuse to get drunk, go to a sale at some mall or just generally make fools of themselves, and to those faux patriots I say, shame on YOU!!

My first 2 weeks in country was a temporary stay with the U.S Mortuary Team, Danang until our equipment arrived. There is nothing joyous about Memorial Day, please read The End by Stephen A. Judycki, it is sobering.
