Powerful Words
From a Righteous Man:
and you wonder why I hold McCain in such contempt?

There is something in the delivery of evangelical Christian preachers, isn't there?
I hope this is more typical of Rev. Hagee's beliefs than the statement that got him in trouble with McCain. (I think it is. Certainly, the evangelical Christians as a group are friends of Israel.)

Linda, I proclaimed myself to be an honorary jew quite a few years ago. I know, that´s not how it´s done but.......that´s just me. Anyway, as goes Israel, so goes the world. McCain? One word for that: whattawegonnadoaboutit? I was a FredHead. That said, I think that with McCain, we stand, at least, SOME chance. The alternative is un-thinkable. But, the alternative COULD happen. Where is the ´shudder´key on this computer?

Absolutely tremendous. I was awestruck by his eloquence, determination and delivery... my lunch is cold.
I will steal and repost this with appropriate credit and reverence to you. Thank you so much for sharing this with your readers. Your footprint is huge, Linda.

Can I vote for him for president?

I am so glad you all enjoyed listening to Pastor Hagee, who, despite what the leftists would like you to believe, does not have an anti-semetic bone in his body.
For McCain to sign on the leftist propaganda and insult such a man is not only an outrage but an insult to every right thinking person.

Ok ok... so I know this is John Hagee but what does this really have to do with McCain. Hagee, himself, said he took back his endorsement so McCain could get back to campaigning and dealing with real problems. Unfortunately, given Obama's Jew-hating pastor, the media backed McCain into a corner on this (the most interesting thing to come out of this in my opinion is the new alliance b/w Bill Donahue of the Catholic League and Hagee after Hagee personally met with Donahue). McCain's has been avidly pro-Israel and there is really no denying this.
But, however, eloquent Hagee is here, let's look consider his true motive for support for Israel. This is a man who said the holocaust was necessary so that the Jews can resettle Israel. This is a man whose concern with Israel rests on a literalist reading of the NT that believes there must be a great war in Jerusalem before Christ can come again (sounds a lot like Ahjmenijad's belief about Jerusalem, now that I think about it). He and his followers support Israel because they believe it will hasten Christ's second coming, not out of some altruistic concern for the Chosen People.
So fine, don't like McCain... your prerogative. But you're really reaching here.

Well Blake, its really very simple.
McCain rejected Pastor Hagee's endorsement, and he did it to pander to the left, and in doing so, he gave his endorsement to the loony left's claim that Pastor Hagee was somehow anti-semetic.
Its no stretch and no reach to hold McCain in contempt for doing so.
As for Pastor Hagee's comment concerning the Holocaust, well, you might want to consider that all things serve G-d, and all things means just that, all things.
And... I suppose I should thank you for posting leftist propaganda on my site, but, I won't. I'll leave it there to show the insanity that permeates McCain supporters... that's quite a stretch to equate Pastor Hagee's views with those of Ahmadinejad. Talk about reaching...
Amazing.

They (Hagee and Ahmadinejad) both believe there must be a great war in Jerusalem before the second coming of the respective messiahs (Jesus and the 12 Imam or whoever). I don't consider that to be leftist propaganda (especially since I'm a conservative Catholic), I actually consider that to be established fact.
I admit McCain did the politically astute thing but he certainly wasn't pandering to the left... the Catholic and Jewish right was just as upset with him about that endorsement (see Bill Donahue) and some of the statements made by Hagee. Get your facts straight.
That said, I can personally accept that Hagee can endorse a candidate without the candidate accepting wholesale the wacked-out views of the endorser. But the media makes it difficult as they are trying to equate Wright/Pfelger (Obama's "spiritul mentors" - so says his book at least) to Hagee (neither McCain's spiritual advisor nor his pastor).

Blake, you might want to look into what Jewish people believe with regard to end times prophecy.
Posted by: LindaSoG at June 4, 2008 05:19 PM
There is actually a variety of opinions about the endtimes Jewish faith (with a large portion not buying into the Messianic prophecies at all). I took a whole class about the endtimes of Abrahamic religions in college (that's where the religious studies half of chemistry/religious studies degree is useful). Fascinating stuff.
My only point is that Hagee's motives are not altogether altruistic (ie.he wants to hasten the endtimes). I'm not comparing the means with which he and the idiot from Iran want to hasten the return, just making an analogy.

Linda, Hagee was going along ok until he started yapping about the "Roman Church". Speaking as one of those "Roman Churchers", I am not embarrassed by the actions of many Catholics, including Pope Pius, during that time period. Unfortunately, Evangelicals have unfounded biases too that they simply will not reliquish.
