Something... and Half of Something: Dear Senator Biden

Dear Senator Biden

In June of 2006, you appeared on Meet the Press and during that appearance, you demanded accountability for the so-called Haditha massacre from the current administration.

Senator Biden, you made rash and harsh accusations against good and honorable men without evidence, without fact. You spoke of the Haditha incident as if the accused Marines were guilty and you did so without reviewing any evidence, without any facts, without any due process. You did so based on rumor and innuendo, based on enemy propaganda, and you pronounced them guilty without a trial.

Senator Biden, you accused the Government of the United States of America and United States Military of perpetuating a coverup at the highest levels, again, based upon enemy propaganda.

RUSSERT: Let me ask you a last question on Iraq about Haditha and some of the other alleged atrocities. The fact is, our government knew about that for some time. How high up the chain, based on your information, do you think this goes?

SEN. BIDEN: The secretary of defense.

MR. RUSSERT: And what should be done?

SEN. BIDEN: He should be gone. He shouldn’t be in his office tomorrow morning. But I’m so tired of saying this on your show. I’ve been saying this for two years.

MR. RUSSERT: Well, the president knew about it in March.

SEN. BIDEN: Well, we can’t get rid of the president. He’s there for two and a half more years. There is a system of accountability. The system of accountability is, it used to be a gentlemanly thing, as they say, when you make serious mistakes, you step forward and you acknowledge them and you walk away. Presidents can’t and shouldn’t do that. Secretaries of defense can and should.

Today, Senator Biden, the falseness of your statements have been proven. Eight of the Marines charged for the so called “massacre” have already been exonerated. There is but one case still pending and that case is likely to be dismissed as well. There was no massacre and if there was no massacre, there was no coverup, at any level.

Senator Biden, there can be no doubt you made a serious mistake in your accusations against our Marines and you made a serious mistake in your accusations against Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and you made a serious mistake in your accusations against the President of the United States, George W. Bush. Mistakes you should be held accountable for.

According to your own statement, your own "system of accountability," the gentlemanly thing to do would be for you, Senator Biden, you, to stand up and to acknowledge your serious mistake, for you to apologize to each of these brave and honorable men for your false accusations and misdeeds, for you to apologize for the injuries you inflicted upon them based on your rash and thoughtless words spoken without knowledge, that were based on rumor, innuendo and ignorance of the facts, the accusations you made without the benefit of a proper investigation and the gathering of information necessary to make intelligent commentary on such a sensitive subject.

Never mind the dangers inherent in your promotion of the propaganda of the enemy at a time of war and your undermining of our Government and the Military in favor of the enemy, which equals aiding and abetting the enemy, as your words were before the world and they put every soldier overseas in grave danger of suffering vengence for acts that did not in fact occur but which you claimed did occur.

Do the the right thing Senator Biden. The world is watching. The world is watching you.

Stand up Senator Biden. Be a man.

Acknowledge your serious mistake. Apologize to those you have falsely accused.

Thank you Linda, all salient points. We all know that Biden or for that matter Murtha will never acknowledge they were wrong, it's not done by Denocrats. They bury their mistakes, (right Vince?) , legislate around them and blame vocifereously the Republicans for their failures. There was no umbrage at the invasion of Bosnia by US and NATO to aid and support muzzie factions, un authorized by the UN or otherwise, after 10 years of aggression and no UN action and with UN sanction Iraq was invaded with Democrat Support then they turned agains Bush in their BDS, that's the difference between which party is in the drivers seat. No accountability or condemnation from debacles in Korea, the Bay of Pigs, Vietnam or the Sudan in their cut and run tacts yet they are permitted to make unfounded statements like the Haditha charges, Doing the enemies work for them. Biden was dodging the draft when he went to law school in '66, his yellow streak is belied by that shit eating grin and his overbearing arrogance.

Joe Biden is a bloviating Senator who has been in Congress too long and is part of the problem and not part of the solution. He is the stereotypical partisan politician who puts party before country. He will never apologize for his despicable Haditha remarks because anything to embarass George Bush and his administration is fair game.

I would think that close scrutiny of Biden's long legislative record will show that he did a lot of legislating, partisan wheeling and dealing, and fixed nothing. If Biden wants to show some outrage, he can start with Congress's failure to enforce it's own laws and close our borders to illegal aliens who have invaded our country and commit major crimes every day including the rape, torture, murder, and forced prostitution of minor children.

So, Sen. Biden, I say the same thing to you that I say to Barack Hussein Obama - SHUT THE F**K UP!

Well said. Don't hold your breath on him apologizing.

I haven't been on in a while. Hope all the treatment is going well.

Linda,

While I laud your sentiments and your analysis of the situation, I think you're being overly optimistic -- after all, he's just a liberal...
