and now... the News

Hang on, because it seems that the stock market is really stimulated:

dayum. the day traders are making a fortune.

so. while you're enjoying that wild ride, here's a peek at your tax dollars at work:

on Thursday afternoon, they literally broke the foreclosure padlock right off the front door and then broke into the house... "We are actually trespassing... said Beverly. "Legally it's wrong, but homesteading is the only means that she has left to stay into her house... . we feel as though this is the right thing to do... Inside, there's spray paint on the walls and evidence that someone has possibly been remodeling... The group says it was staging similar demonstrations in six other cities nationwide while urging a moratorium on foreclosures...

The community organizing "group" is ACORN, yup... and they've graduated from teaching people how to steal elections to teaching people how to steal houses. Lesson number one - don't call it stealing, call it a demonstration.

How wonderful it is that their training seminars are being paid for by money straight out of the stimulus bill.

Is this a great country or what?

and... speaking of stealing... let's talk about deadbeats...

Chicago has yet to recoup the $1.74 million cost of President Obama's victory celebration in Grant Park -- despite a burgeoning $50.5 million budget shortfall that threatens more layoffs and union concessions.

Makes ya wonder what he did with that the $30 million surplus campaign funds. Betcha no one asks that question.

and... it looks like the wealthier folks are thinking 'tea party" after all: Jumbo Loan Defaults Surge in U.S. as Recession Reaches Wealthy Homeowners.

Sometimes a rumor is just a rumor

You know that rumor that's going around, the one I talked about yesterday?

The rumor that Israel's Minister of Defense said during his address at the Herzliya Conference that Obama was going to lift the Bush sanctions on Iran:

The United States has abandoned its policy of sanctioning companies that aid Iran's nuclear and missile program, they said.

The officials said the new Obama administration of has decided to end sanctions against Iranian government agencies or companies that aid Teheran's missile and nuclear program. The officials said Israel has been informed of the new U.S. policy.

"We were told that sanctions do not help the new U.S. policy of dialogue with Iran," an official said.

Barak confirmed the new U.S. policy. In an address to the Herzliya Conference on Feb. 3, Barak said Washington did not say whether it would resume sanctions against Iran.

The rumor that was published in that pay per view article at Geostrategy-Direct, an open source intelligence (OSINT) newsletter that is supposed to have a good track record?

Well, I had doubts, big time and it bugged me all day. So, I did a bit of investigation and now, I'm about ready to call bullshit on this one.

You see, I can tell you right now that Geostrategy-Direct most certainly did not get that information from Ehud Barak's address at the 2009 Herzliya Conference and I can tell you that with certainty because I just listened to Barak's entire presentation and Barak most certainly did not say anything about Obama lifting sanctions against Iran.

Absolutely, positively not. And if you have any doubts, you can listen to it yourself.

Now, in all fairness, I haven't seen the Geostrategy-Direct article, only the claims that say the article is based on Ehud Barak's address at the Herziya Conference. Now that we know Ehud Barak did not speak those words during his presentation at the Conference, the question is, if he really did say those words, when did he say them and why is there no confirmation of this anywhere by anyone.

After listening to what Ehud Barak did say about Obama in his presentation, I don't think he said what Geostrategy-Direct claims he said. If you listen to the presentation, you'll see what I mean.

Here's a funny thing... after thinking about it all day, I wouldn't have been surprised to find that it was true and now I almost expect that Obama will lift those sanctions, because that's the kind of man he is. But I don't think Ehud Barak expects it for the same reason, because that's the kind of man he is.

UPDATE:

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to my visitors from the NY Times:

Feel free to look around. Who knows... ya might learn something...

Today's Really Scary Rumor

Found at Gateway Pundit via Israel Matzav, the word comes via Tel Aviv where Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak reports that United States President Barack Hussein Obama has decided to lift all sanctions against Iran. Supposedly, it's based on an address given by outgoing Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the Herzliya conference last week:

The United States has abandoned its policy of sanctioning companies that aid Iran's nuclear and missile program, they said.

The officials said the new Obama administration of has decided to end sanctions against Iranian government agencies or companies that aid Teheran's missile and nuclear program. The officials said Israel has been informed of the new U.S. policy.

"We were told that sanctions do not help the new U.S. policy of dialogue with Iran," an official said.

[Israeli Defense Minister Ehud] Barak confirmed the new U.S. policy. In an address to the Herzliya Conference on Feb. 3, Barak said Washington did not say whether it would resume sanctions against Iran.

"We must arrive at a strategic understanding with the United States over Iran's military nuclear program and ensure that even if at this time they opt for the diplomatic option, it will only last a short time before harsh and necessary sanctions are imposed," Barak said.

Obama decided to end sanctions against Iran after determining that the U.S. measures had failed to block Teheran's missile or nuclear weapons program, officials said. Under the administration of former President George Bush, the United States accelerated sanctions on Iran in 2008.

In his address, the Israeli defense minister indicated that Obama had forged an entirely new approach toward Iran. He said the Israeli government has sought a briefing from the new U.S. administration.

A U.S. defense source said the White House would no longer enforce sanctions imposed by the Bush administration. The source said the decision has already been relayed to Iran.

"The administration has abandoned sanctions entirely," the U.S. source said. "It is a completely new ballgame."

I refuse to believe this. It cannot be true.

G-d help us if it is.

About that tumor...

Well, its been six months since I had gamma knife surgery for that darn brain tumor. I haven't talked much about it since, I've had a bit of rough time, mostly because of the follow up medication which I did not react to very well. The first six weeks were really hard and included one scary trip to the emergency room, but once I got past that very necessary medication, things got tolerable for the most part. The headaches returned though, as did the vision problems, and that was a bitch to deal with, trying to find the right combination of non-narcotic medication to combat the pain. Posting here over the last few months has been light because of it.

Anyways, at the three month check up, it seemed that the tumor had gotten a little smaller and that was good news, but it was dampened with the worry about the severity of the headaches and the vision problems. There was some loss of vision, mostly in my left eye, mostly in the peripheral areas and some concern because the loss over the last few tests seemed to be worsening. Some of that could have been caused by residual swelling from all that radiation, but no one could be sure. Only time would tell.

So. I had a lot of vision tests but the three month period seemed to be the worst point. We were still adjusting the medicatiion and that seemed to help. Over the last couple of months, the blurry vision episodes seemed to lessen and so did the headaches. The vision test last month actually showed improvement, some of the black areas went grey and some of the grey areas went light. That meant I could see a little light in areas where I couldn't see any at all and I could see more light where I could only see a little before.

I had the six month MRI late last week, and I saw Dr. Wolf right after. The news is not only good, the news is great.

Before picture, July of last year:

and... last Thursday:

It's still there, but you can see the change the radiation made. Even if it doesn't go all the way away, the tumor appears to be dead and shouldn't grow again. That's the really important part, because even if it doesn't go away any more than it has right now, I can certainly live with it. As long as it doesn't grow, I'm good!

I'm now off the three month check up schedule. The doctor said, see you in six months, and after that, I'll see you in a year.

What all this means is the treatment is a success and it looks like I'm gonna be okay.

Thank you, for all your prayers, for all your support, for being there for me. I can't tell you how much it meant to me.

Today's Lying Liar

is political wanna be Val Kilmer, who is contemplating a run for governor of New Mexico and who dissed Vietnam Veterans while qualifying his experience in an interview with Esquire Magazine:

[Klosterman]: You mean you think you literally had the same experience as Doc Holliday?

Kilmer: Oh, sure. It's not like I believed that I shot somebody, but I absolutely know what it feels like to pull the trigger and take someone's life.

[Klosterman:] You understand how it feels to shoot someone as much as a person who has actually committed a murder?

[Kilmer] I understand it more. It's an actor's job. A guy who's lived through the horror of Vietnam has not spent his life preparing his mind for it. He's some punk. Most guys were borderline criminal or poor, and that's why they got sent to Vietnam. It was all the poor, wretched kids who got beat up by their dads, guys who didn't get on the football team, couldn't finagle a scholarship. They didn't have the emotional equipment to handle that experience. But this is what an actor trains to do. I can more effectively represent that kid in Vietnam than a guy who was there.

and then... he denied saying it...

"In response to the recently quoted interview regarding the Vietnam veterans:

I have read the interview and I certainly did not say those things.

The writer was elaborating and not able to accept the intent of empathy, and sympathy that an actor has for all human beings and the human condition.

My father served proudly in WW2 and I have never uttered a single word of disrespect to any armed servicemen anywhere ever.

I sincerely apologize for causing any discomfort to any vets and would not have pursued a line of thought that could have been turned into such an ugly version of a simple rule in acting.

You are justifiably offended, as I was when I read the supposed quotes.

I have travelled to Iraq, interviewed, and filmed on behalf of the men and women in the field and have met with some of our great retired generals. One of the greats that I had the privilege to know was Admiral Noel Gyler, a true hero, as was Colonel Gavin, whose family I was adopted by, and even asked to write his eulogy.

Sincerely,
Val Kilmer"

So. That's nice, except he did say those things. Oh yes, he most certainly did. You see, the entire interview, including his statement, has been tape recorded for prosperity...

The quotes attributed to Mr. Kilmer in Mr. Klosterman’s story are absolutely accurate. The interview was recorded and every quote used in the story was checked by our research department to insure that it was printed precisely as spoken.

It should be noted Mr. Kilmer did not dispute the validity of the quotations when the article was first published four years ago, nor did he dispute them when the article was reprinted in Mr. Klosterman’s fourth book, nor did he dispute them when the story appeared in Ira Glass’s anthology The New Kings of Nonfiction.

Sincerely,

David Granger
Editor in Chief
Esquire

Oh well. All that's left is the Shaggy Defense.

Honey came in and she caught me red-handed
Creeping with the girl next door
Picture this, we were both butt naked,
banging on the bathroom floor

How could I forget that I had
Given her an extra key
All this time she was standing there
She never took her eyes off me

~ ~ ~

To be a true player you have to know how to play
If she say a night, convince her say a day
Never admit to a word when she say makes a claim
And you tell her baby no way

But she caught me on the counter
(It wasn't me)
Saw me bangin' on the sofa
(It wasn't me)
I even had her in the shower
(It wasn't me)
She even caught me on camera
(It wasn't me)

She saw the marks on my shoulder
(It wasn't me)
Heard the words that I told her
(It wasn't me)
Heard the scream get louder
(It wasn't me)
She stayed until it was over

Honey came in and she caught me red-handed
Creeping with the girl next door
Picture this, we were both butt naked,
banging on the bathroom floor

I had tried to keep her
From what she was about to see
Why should she believe me
When I told her it wasn't me

I don't think it worked for Shaggy either.

Fuck you Val Kilmer.

It's no wonder

that they want to shut him up:

Is it time to panic? No, my friends, it’s not time to panic, because nothing gets done in a panic. What we have to realize is this: the left, the Democrat Party, will not control the government forever. It just will not happen. They are going to overreach. They’re going to overreach pretty quickly. Polling data already shows that, in a generic race for Congress, it’s tied Republican and Democrat. Only when you put the names in… Nobody can believe this. Fifty-six percent of the American people now are in opposition to the stimulus in total or in part. By the way, about the negotiations: They’re trying to ram this through just like amnesty. They’re trying to ram this through, and they’re using the same tactics that they used with global warming. It’s a fear of crisis. We can’t wait; we gotta do it now. The conference negotiations are going on with not one Republican being permitted to participate.

Did you know that? Not one Republican from the House, not one Republican Senator is involved in the conference between the House and the Senate to come up with a bill that both support. Not one Republican in this new era of responsibility, not one Republican in this new era of bipartisanship. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have shut the Republicans out. This is from Mike Pence, congressman from Indiana. So, let ‘em go ahead with these tactics. We can’t stop them anyway. We lost the election. But they’re going to lose down the road. They will not control government forever, and when our turn comes, we are going to turn the power of government against the left. We are going to investigate them. We are going to hold public hearings. We are going to humiliate them. We’re going to nationalize their unions. We’re going to fund our groups for a change.

If they can give ACORN $4.1 billion then we can start paying our groups with federal money. We’re going to do exactly to them what they have done to us. We’re going to build and use the Big Government that they have built and turn it right against them. We are gonna turn the power of government against the left, and against Democrats in ways they cannot imagine. They will not know what hit them. They are using the law. They are using government to advance a cause that is un-American. We are going to use the power that the left is centralizing in the federal government to punish them, to break ‘em up, and to make them pay for this. It’s time for tit-for-tat. Nice guy playing by the rules when they don’t, is over. It’s time they got a taste of their own medicine, and it’s going to happen, folks, because they’re not going to hold power forever.

The left—you people, you Democrats—you are creating a monster that you will not be able to control forever. You will ultimately regret what you are doing just like the media will ultimately regret its sacrifice of reason, its abandonment of its primary purpose. The day is coming when the media will actually investigate a Democrat and find some problems and nobody’s going to believe them because they’ve lost all credibility. Nobody believes what the mainstream media says now anyway. Except the uneducated, the illiterate, and the uninformed—which, sadly, is a fairly large number. Well, we’ll deal with that. We are taking names. We are taking names now. We are monitoring who on the left is going to deserve payback, and it’s going to be hell. This much I promise you. This is just getting out of hand.

We’re gonna come after the left’s favorite corporations. We’re going to come after your favorite political constituents. We’re going to come after your favorite media outlets. You want to try the Fairness Doctrine? Fine. We’ll impose it on network television. We’ll impose it on newspapers. You want to try censorship? Fine! We will censor you when we get the control of the government back. We will reapportion districts using the Census to help conservatives. We’re going to turn the power of government against the Democrats and the left and weaken and you break you into little pieces. Because, my friends, the day has passed when we can become passive and be passive about what they are doing. We will use the political and the legal system as they have and are, and we will use it to promote our party and to diminish theirs. We will use the power of government and legal system to promote our movement and our agenda, just as they are.

If they are going to bastardize the American system, if they are going to make this government large and powerful and intrusive, someday they’re going to lose it. But they’re going to lose it after having amassed all this power. We will control it, and we’re going to turn it right back against them. We will build a massive army of patriots to counter ACORN. We will defund ACORN. We’ll defund the labor unions, and we will fund our own people to go out and zap ACORN. And we will do everything we can to enhance anti-union employment. We will make sure that when companies lose money, that the people that get canned are union people. We’re going to use the power of government just like the left is using the power of government. We’re going to use the Justice Department.
We’re going to go after big unions with the Justice Department. We’re going to find all of the criminal activity. We are going to find all the lack of ethics. We are going to find every bit of corruption we can, and we’re gonna sic the attorney general and the justice department and the US attorneys on you people just as you have been doing to the people of the right and the Republican Party for 50 years. And then we’re going to find George Soros and other concentrations of left-wing power and wealth. And we’re going to focus our attention on him, so that the American people will finally learn just who the hell paid for the bastardization of the United States, just who the hell paid for the destruction of the American way of life.

We have learned from you leftists. We have sat by, we have watched, and we’ve been too passive. We have sat on the sidelines as impotent observers, and we have trusted in the goodness and the decency of the American people. But you have even perverted them. It was a disgrace what was on display in Fort Myers, Florida, yesterday. It was an absolute saddening, shocking, depressing disgrace. And you have created that segment of America that has no faith in and of itself, no faith in this country, and thinks the only reason to talk to a president is to ask him for a kitchen, to ask him for a car. By the way, asking a president for a new car who hasn’t even given his brother who lives in a hut a welcome home mat! I don’t think he’s given his brother a pot, much less a pan.

His brother lives in a nine-square-foot hut in Nairobi. You’re asking the president of the United States...? God bless these people. What has this government done to them? What has the media in this country done to these people, depriving them of the very essence of humanity? No sense of self, no pride. This is what Democrats and the left do to people. They rob people of their humanity, of their goodness and their decency. They rob them of confidence. We are going to restore this. We are going to use the power of the government to tell people how good they can be, how important they are, and how much happier they will be if they’re not looking to our president for the next kitchen or the car or a job. We’re going to become activists. We’ll take back our government.

It’s going to be a bigger, more powerful, stronger government—and we’re going to turn it against the left in ways they could have never imagined. So, Sue in Virginia Beach, we can’t do any of this if we panic. I know some of you are saying, “Rush, it all sounds great, but who’s going to do this?” Well, folks, I admit that you look out on the horizon right now and you don’t see a single person in the political class willing to do this. But before these people on the left get through, there is going to be so much anger and outrage among the people who made this country work, who are now being targeted as the enemies. You who have jobs, you who have played by the rules, you who are not asking anybody for your next kitchen, you’re the enemy—and it isn’t going to be long before the people of this country get fed up enough that they’re going to want to turn the tables on the people who are trying to destroy America as we have always known it.

I used to say, if you want to know what the left is up to, just look at what they're accusing the right of doing.

For years, they accused President George W. Bush of surpressing their right to free speech and silencing dissent, and yet, never once was anyone silenced during the Bush administration. No radio shows or television shows were shut down, no websites were shut down, no protests where broken up, no one was arrested for on the streets for dissent. The left managed to say and do anything and everything they wanted, including demanding that George W. Bush be boiled in oil without consequence. Movies were made depicting his death, websites were dedicated to that proposition, without fear of arrest or censure of any kind. Dissent was oh-so-patriotic in any and every way shape and form, including hanging and burning in effigy the nazi facist President of the United States of America, as long as the President was George W. Bush. My how things have changed.

Here we are, barely a month into this administration and you even can't say you're not stimulated by his stiimulus plan without repurcussion. No no no. That makes you a bad American.

Here we are, barely a month into this administration and already they are talking about silencing dissent, denying some the right to free speech, and working their way to shut down radio stations and television shows that do not toe the party line.

Rush is right. This ain't gonna last forever, hell no.

Mid Term Elections.

Yup.

A rude awakening

I am so sorry for this poor woman.

I know how horrible I feel watching this administration destroy this Country with it's stupidity, even as I knew it was coming. At least I have the comfort of knowing, even as it happens, that I tried to keep it from happening. I can only imagine how horrible it must be for her to watch it happen, knowing she bears the responsibility for it.

Where was she during the run up to the election? Obama made no secret of his intention to talk to terrorists, to appease our enemies, to close GITMO and bring those prisoners to our shores. These are the things he promised, these are the changes he promised and presumably, the changes she voted for. Maybe she thought he meant all the other terrorists and just not the terrorist who happened to have killed her son. I know that sounds harsh, but really, what was she thinking when she voted for him?

I wonder at all those people who fell for his rhetoric. What were they thinking then, what are they thinking now? I know whenever I think of Barack Hussein Obama, I will think of Shanice Denise Osbourne, who was stuffed in a plastic bag and thrown in the trash, where she died alone and struggling for breath in the dark, because people like Obama don't believe she had a right to live. That is the reality of the man who is now the president of the United States of America.

That's okay. In the end, G-d will sort it out.

Oh... the stimulation

of stimulus:

It's $900 Billion now and counting...

Speaking at the Energy Department, Obama made a fresh plea for the stimulus plan that the Senate is debating. He cited the latest bad economic news of jobless claims as another reason for quick action.

He said: "The time for talk is over, the time for action is now."

Republicans and some Democrats have expressed reservations about the growing price tag of the package—more than $900 billion. Senate Democratic leaders hope to have a bill completed by Friday.

Earlier today, Obama warned that failure to pass an economic recovery package could plunge the nation into an even longer, perhaps irreversible recession, as senators searched for compromises to whittle down the enormous bill.

Senate moderates gathered behind closed doors in an effort to find at least $50 billion in spending reductions that might make the $900 billion-plus package more palatable to centrists. Democratic leaders hoped to pass the legislation by Friday at the latest.

Obama painted a bleak picture if lawmakers do nothing.

In an op-ed piece in The Washington Post, the president argued that each day without his stimulus package, Americans lose more jobs, savings and homes. His message came as congressional leaders struggle to control the huge stimulus bill that's been growing larger by the day in the Senate. The addition of a new tax break for homebuyers Wednesday evening sent the price tag well past $900 billion.

"This recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse," Obama wrote in the newspaper piece.

He rejected the argument that more tax cuts are needed in the plan and that piecemeal measures would be sufficient. His latest plea came on the same day the economy dealt with another dose of bad news: A big jump in jobless claims and another round of weak retail sales.

Yeah, no tax cuts for the people, tax cuts are not stimulating, $70 million for super computers to research climate change is stimulating, $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts is stimulating, $335 million to prevent sexually transmitted diseases is stimulating, $650 million for TV coupons is stimulating, and $150 million to insure honeybee farmers is stimulating. Oh yes, you have to admit, that's some stimulating stimulus, along with...

... House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in Congress left town for their annual retreat at Kingsmill Resort and Spa in nearby Williamsburg, Va., which offers "unforgettable golf, luxurious accommodations... and an abundance of recreational opportunities."

The three-day retreat is part of an annual tradition enjoyed by both parties in Congress -- an opportunity to bring families, take off their jackets and relax as they plan their agenda for the coming year.

oooo! "unforgettable golf, luxurious accommodations... and an abundance of recreational opportunities." Now that's stimulating! Yup, Williamsburg is certainly stimulated this week with taxpayer money, and we're footing the bill, if not for the accomodations (at least they pay for something themselves - good thing they got that raise in pay, huh?), we the people pay for the rest of that stimulation, including the transportation, food, room service, beefed up security, photographers, telephone and internet, yadda yadda. and this year, we get to pay for Obamessiah flying in on AF One.

No matter what side of the politcal spectrum you fall on, I'll bet most of you have thought of spending a few days in a place like the Kingsmill Resort but have never quite made it there. How stimulating it must be for the average American to know that even if they can't stay in such luxurious accomodations and their families can't enjoy the abundance of recrational opportunities available there, well, even in this time of recession, even while we're on the brink of disaster, even as we are rushing toward catastrophe, thanks to the efforts of congress, even if the average American can't stay there, they can pay for someone else to stay there. Is this a great country or what? Why not send a thank you note to your congress critter for allowing you that opportunity? Don't leave out your republican congress critter, they had their luxurious annual retreat on your tax dollar a few weeks ago.

Oh, and if you're thinking maybe this compares to AIG and their happy happy joy joy bailout parties, well, you can stop that right now. What AIG did was bad but they only did it once, or was it twice, and this, well, this is an annual thing but hey, don't think about that part, no, this is hope and change coming to America right before your very eyes, with extra bonus stimulating stimulus, surely you can see that and if you can't see that, well, then you're probably not a honey bee farmer.

Here we go again

Those murderous palestinians just can't control their desire to kill Jews, no matter what the consequences might be.

At least 15 Kassam rockets and mortar shells struck Israel on Sunday. One rocket landed between two kindergartens in the Eshkol region, one struck Sderot, two others hit open areas nearby and a fourth hit the Sdot Negev region.

They've shot rocket after mortar after rocket since the ceasefire, but now, it appears there will be consequences...

Palestinians in Khan Yunis and Rafah said on Sunday that the IDF had sent them messages by phone telling them that they should evacuate their houses "immediately," Channel 10 reported.

The announcement comes just hours after two soldiers and a civilian were lightly wounded by shrapnel from mortar shells which were fired from the Gaza Strip into the Sha'ar Hanegev region of the western Negev.

and...

"Everybody who is near any place used for terror or weapon storage facility or tunnels, should evacuate the area immediately," the voice message warned, according to witnesses. Similar warnings have preceded Israeli attacks, but not in all cases.

Let's hope they mean it this time, because the murderous bastards won't stop, and it's not just Hamas attacking, Fatah's military wing, the Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, took responsibility for one of the rocket attacks.

Olmert is promising a "disproportionate" response. So. Enough is enough. Shut up and respond already!
