Something... and Half of Something

I wish to know the secrets
that are shared amongst the trees
the nonsense that is whispered
as the wind slips through the leaves
talk of days that have long past
and of the days to come
if such knowledge were mine to know
then together, with the wind, I'd run.

I long to raise my voice into the wind
let it carry on the breeze
to find my one and only love
let the hurt, at last, be eased
I fear the passage of my days
I fear this song will remain unsung
alas, tomorrow I'll be older
but today, I am still young.
