Question of the day

Do Newspapers Have a Future?

It seems hopeless. How can the newspaper industry survive the Internet? On the one hand, newspapers are expected to supply their content free on the Web. On the other hand, their most profitable advertising--classifieds--is being lost to sites like Craigslist. And display advertising is close behind. Meanwhile, there is the blog terror: people are getting their understanding of the world from random lunatics riffing in their underwear, rather than professional journalists with standards and passports.

*snort* Now that was a partisan statement if I ever heard one. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not rigging in my underwear, nor am I a random lunatic. I want to know the truth, and I can't get that from the NY Times or the Miami Herald, or USA Today. I don't want photoshopped news.

The mainstream media has become a joke. People want the real story, not the partisan bullshit spoon fed to the public by the media. I haven't bought a newspaper in years, and I pick up the freebies to line my bird cage.

Very interesting blog, Linda, and one which I am convinced, if not already, will soon be a topic of national debate. The MSM has been so roundly disgraced (self-disgraced I should say) that a thinking individual must question the new nature or definition of "journalism." Photoshopped photos, Jason Blair, national security leaks under the ridiculous pretense of "public interest," all indicate that the role of editor has shifted to "minister of propaganda." Both you and Michelle Malkin have shown that bloggers are snowplowing into the forefront as a national source of news and informed opinion...and guess what? The only informed opinion is on the political right. The moonbats and their God, Howard Dean, are tailspinning right out of any credibility whatsoever.

In summary: The New York Times: All the Propaganda That's Fit to Laugh At!

Dittos, I also have not bought more than one or two newspapers in the last year. The oversensationalism and leftist trend broke my habit of two papers a day. The media is dying, panicing, almost irrelevant.
