Good Riddance
The quality is poor, but it's obviously Saddam Hussien.
No blood, no guts, just Saddam Hussien's final moments. Since we can only kill him once, it's good to have the video.
Hat tip to my friend Vinne!

Shabbat Shalom
Our Father in Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first manifestation of the approach of our redemption. Shield it with Your loving kindness, envelop it in Your peace, and bestow Your light and truth upon its leaders, ministers, and advisors, and grace them with Your good counsel. Strengthen the hands of those who defend our holy land, grant them deliverance, and adorn them in a mantle of victory.
Ordain peace in the land and grant its inhabitants eternal happiness. Lead them, swiftly and upright, to Your city Zion and to Jerusalem, the abode of Your Name, as is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses: “Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the Lord your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.”
Draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah, and send us quickly the Messiah son of David, agent of Your vindication, to redeem those who await Your deliverance.
Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.
Amen

We cease and they fire
So, now we learn that Hezbollah is paying palestinians to fire Kassam rockets into Israel from Gaza.
"Palestinian terrorists get thousands of dollars per attack. Sometimes they are paid before the attack and sometimes they submit a bill to Lebanon afterward and the money gets transferred a short while later."
Peretz told the cabinet on Sunday that there have been cases over the last month where the IDF spotted terrorists preparing to fire rockets, but - because of the cease-fire - did not act.
I have to wonder at Ehud Olmert, why is he so willing to bloody his hands, to allow Israelis to be slaughtered by these arabs?
According to government officials, Olmert argued at Wednesday's meeting that the cease-fire had strategic value, and that Israel's policy of restraint had earned it "a lot of understanding and appreciation" around the world that would provide "leeway" in the future.
Leeway for what? Leeway for the arabs to kill more Jews? Does that mean the rest of the world appeciates that Olmert forces the IDF to stand aside while rockets land on Jews?
It would appear so.
The article also says that "Olmert has argued in recent days that a strong military response would only unite Hamas and Fatah."
They are already united in their hatred of Jews. The proper response is to bomb the hell out of Hamas and Fatah each and every time they try to kill Jews.
Any truce is a hudna, and any ceasefire has always meant the same thing, we cease, and they fire.
Once upon a time, to be the Prime Minister of Israel meant that you defended Israel, and protected her people. Olmert has failed over and over again, he has done nothing but give way to arab demands and arab terror, and emboldened Israel's enemies.
The Islamic Jihad is not worried by the possibility that Israel will embark on a broad operation against the Qassams.
Spokesman of Islamic Jihad's military arm, al-Quds Brigades, Abu Ahmad claimed in an interview with Ynet that this is just the beginning. His organization is simultaneously preparing for a wave of suicide attacks to be carried out within Israel.
There can be no negotiations with these arabs, because, when you negotiate with evil, evil wins.

Traitors Eat Alone
I hope this moment is seared into his memory:

"This is a true story.....Check out this photo from our mess hall at the US Embassy yesterday morning. Sen. Kerry found himself all alone while he was over here. He cancelled his press conference because no one came, he worked out alone in the gym w/o any soldiers even going up to say hi or ask for an autograph (I was one of those who was in the gym at the same time), and he found himself eating breakfast with only a couple of folks who are obviously not troops."
Click the pic to read the rest.

Another Victory for Allah
"We have withdrawn as part of our military strategy," said Sheik Mohamoud Ibrahim Suley, an official with the Islamic council in Mogadishu.
"We woke up from our sleep this morning and the town was empty of troops, not a single Islamic fighter," Ibrahim Mohamed Aden, a resident of Bur Haqaba said.
and
Islamic fighters were also reportedly retreating on two other fronts. On the southern front, government troops captured Dinsor.
It seem that "Peace through superior firepower" is the lesson of the day, but its not the only lesson to be learned:
... just two weeks ago an Islamic cleric said anyone who did not pray five times a day would be executed.
and...
"The war is entering a new phase. We will fight Ethiopia for a long, long time and we expect the war to go everyplace." -- Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, leader of the Council of Islamic Courts' executive body.
Ahmed declined to explain is comments in greater detail, but some Islamic leaders have threatened a guerrilla war to include suicide bombings in Ethiopia's capital...

Now you are looking at the true face of the war, the true face of Islam.
Let's just hope Condi Rice stays out this war.

Jobless Gaza Arabs Miss Jewish Employers, Turn to Drugs
Gaza Arabs, left jobless by the Oslo War and by last year's expulsion of Gush Katif farmers, have turned to drugs that are smuggled from Lebanon and Egypt, the United Nations reported.
Tens of thousands of Arabs worked throughout Israel in factories and in construction until the Oslo War broke out in 2000. The constant flow of terrorists from Gaza forced Israel to severely restrict traffic and to withdraw work permits, which terrorists exploited to carry out attacks.
Thousands of Arabs still were able to work for Jewish farmers until the summer of 2005, when the government forced 10,000 Jewish residents out of their homes, destroyed their communities and turned them over to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
And then what?
Hopes for a robust PA economy turned to dust, and the former greenhouses became training grounds for terrorists.
The Christian Science Monitor reported last year, "... Palestinian looters damaged many of the greenhouses, stripping them bare, for instance, of computers that the settlers used to monitor crops. Irrigation pumps were stolen, electricity networks paralyzed, and protective sheeting for the hothouses was torn.
That's right. Gaza's Greenhouses went from this:

to this:

That's right. Immediately after the expulsion, they descended like locusts on Gush Katif, pillaged and destroyed what took a generation to build. One year later, the desert that bloomed is a barren wasteland.
Whose fault is that?
Husni Shaheen, secretary general of the Palestinian Supreme National Committee against Drugs blamed Israel for the poor economic conditions in Gaza...
Of course! It was the joos!

Here Dhimmi Dhimmi Dhimmi...
The American Thinker has an article up by A. M. Mora y Leon, extolling the virtue of the moslem paradise that can be found in friendly and tolerant Indonesia and Malaysia.
Anyone who's traveled in Malaysia and Indonesia can testify to the friendly, open-minded character of most of the citizens. Every nation has a legend, and in Malaysia there's one an American traveler might encounter it. It goes something like this:
"We have made it. We beat colonialism, we beat nationalism, we beat war, we beat poverty, we beat the Asian crisis ... let's show you around and make money together."

Friendly tolerant Indonesian moslems expressing their feelings for America
Yes, according to A. M. Mora y Leon, Malaysia and Indonesia moslems are different...
Not like the angry Muslims you might meet in a politically correct university town or see on the news demonstrating somewhere overseas. Nor the more low-key, often industrious Muslims you might meet working at a convenience store in the U.S. They are Southeast Asian Muslims.
Sure, Southeast Asian moslems are friendly, never mind that just this past week Thailand’s army-backed Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont warned of large-scale attacks by friendly moslems during the New Year holidays. Never mind that schools are primary targets for friendly moslems, never mind that there are no terrorism laws to protect you from these friendly moslems. Take heart that one-year-old Rattanapol and his parents are in stable condition, recovering from wounds suffered in an attack by friendly moslems earlier this month.

A friendly tolerant Indonesian moslem burns a Israel flag during an anti-US and Israel rally in front of the US embassy in Jakarta on Friday 30 June 2006
These are friendly moslems, and
"Their Islam is a tolerant one..."
Yeah, Indonesia and Malaysia are friendly and tolerant, just ask the Buddhist teacher who was shot in the head by friendly tolerant moslems. Oh wait, you can't ask her, she died. She was 61st teacher killed by friendly tolerant moslems during what can only be described as three years of friendly and tolerant bloodshed. Just ask the 54-year-old Buddhist man was also shot by friendly tolerant moslems. Oh wait, you can't ask him, he died too and the friendly tolerant moslems who killed him later burned his body. Oh well.
Buddhists comprise 20 of the population of the provinces in the Muslim south. When the insurgency began, individuals were the main targets of the insurgents. About 20 Buddhists were decapitated in the first year of the insurgency. Over the past year, as many Muslims as Buddhists have been killed, but following the coup of September 17, it appears that whole Buddhist communities have been placed under threat.
On Saturday, 500 Buddhist monks from 266 temples in Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat took part in a special prayer session for peace at Songkhla provincial hall.
While the monks and their supporters prayed for peace, killings escalated on Saturday. In Kabang district, Yala province, three Buddhist men were shot dead as they hunted for wild boar in a forest. The men had their throats cut.
In another incident in Muang district in Yala province, a grocery store was attacked by insurgent gunmen. Two teenage Buddhist boys, Thanakorn Khandam, 17, and Chaikorn Udnoon, 17, were injured.
At Muang district, a 78-year old Buddhist woman, Pongsri Charoensap, was injured when four gunmen opened fire on a group of villagers who were gathered outside a house.
You can't ask Juling Pongkunmul and Sirinat Thawornsuk about friendly tolerant moslems either, because earlier this year....
Muslim villagers descended on a school in Gujinruepo village, in Narathiwat's Rangae district. The villagers demanded to know which teachers were non-Muslim. Two women Buddhists, Juling Pongkunmul and Sirinat Thawornsuk, were identified. Ms Sirinat was dragged from a teashop, and Ms Juling was taken from a classroom.
The pair were led to a community center in the village and subjected to a prolonged beating with sticks which lasted for more than an hour. The villagers, mostly women, also prevented security forces from gaining access to Gujinruepo. When the two teachers were rescued, they had suffered horrific injuries. Ms Srinirat recovered, but Ms Juling had suffered brain lesions and had lapsed into a coma. Juling, a talented artist who had only recently begun teaching at the Gujinruepo village school, still remains in a coma, on a life support machine at Songkhlanagarin (Prince of Songhkla) Hospital in Hat Yai, Songkhla province.
In June of this year, friendly tolerant moslems killed nineteen civilians and one soldier, and wounding dozens of others - including a TV cameraman, the friendly tolerant moslems shot at them with arrows.

They look friendly, don't they?
But, don't worry, these friendly tolerant moslems are equally friendly and tolerant of other moslems. In November, some friendly moslems approached two officers and shot them at point-blank range at a food market in Yala, other friendly moslems shot a government worker to death, and other friendly moslems gunned down 24-year-old moslem villager. In Narathiwat province, a 48-year-old Muslim was shot dead at his grocery shop by two friendly moslems who posed as clients. Two moslems , including a 13-year-old boy, were shot several times by other friendly moslems in Narathiwat, they died at the scene. Police also confirmed that two people were killed in a bomb that exploded last morning outside a car showroom in Yala, presumably, the bomb was set by friendly moslems.
Despite the presence of some 30,000 heavily armed troops and auxiliary forces across the region, Muslim militants have recently escalated their campaign of violence, forcing teachers' unions in the last week of November to close schools in remote rural areas near the Thailand-Malaysia border.
"The militants are attacking the schools to make a point that the government cannot provide security."
Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont pledged to permit space for the implementation of Islamic sharia law in the region, where friendly moslems make up about 80% of the local population and in return:
Surayud's goodwill gestures have been returned with a spike in violence that escalated as November drew to a close. Apart from targeting schools, frequent attacks on Buddhist monks in Narathiwat province compelled the ascetics to stop the traditional practice of collecting alms every morning. At least 200 Buddhist villagers have recently fled their homes in Yala province because of escalating militant attacks.
According to the American Thinker, and A. M. Mora y Leon, this is the message from the friendly moslems of Malaysia and Thailand:
"You American, you have come so far... we admire you. Here's our beautiful country, we're pleased you like it, we want to share it some more... so let's get to know each other."
Yeah. Right. Me love you long time and never mind that at a November 17 rally, Hasnoor Sidang Hussein, a member of the ruling moslem party in Malaysia, declared: "UMNO is willing to risk lives and bathe in blood in defense of race and religion."
Never mind that just this past November, one of these friendly tolerant moslem preachers publicly said it was the obligation of Muslims to assassinate George W. Bush during his visit to Indonesia. Never mind that in Jakarta, three friendly tolerant moslems are on trial now for decapitating three Christian schoolgirls in central Sulawesi last year as they were walking to class. Never mind that on the main island of Java, mobs of friendly tolerant moslems have forcibly closed dozens of Christian churches.

A friendly, tolerant moslem protesting President Bush in Indonesia
Maybe its time for more pretty peaceful paper cranes.

T'was the Night Before Christmas
Jewish Style:
Twas the night before Christmas, and we, being Jews
My girlfriend and me -- we had nothing to do.
The Gentiles were home, hanging stockings with care,
Secure in their knowledge St. Nick would be there. But for us, once the Hanukkah candles burned down,
There was nothing but boredom all over town.
The malls and the theaters were all closed up tight;
There weren't any concerts to got to that night.A dance would have saved us, some ballroom or swing,
we searched through the papers; but there wasn't a thing.
Outside the window sat two feet of snow;
With the wind-chill, they said it was fifteen below. And while all I could do was sit there and brood,
My girl saved the night and called out "CHINESE FOOD!"
So we ran to the closet, grabbed hats, mitts and boots--
To cover our heads, our hands, and our foots. We pulled on our jackets, all puffy with down.
And boarded "The T," bound for old Chinatown.
The train nearly empty, it rolled through the stops,
While visions of wontons danced through our kopfs. We hopped off at Park Street; the Common was bright
With fresh-fallen snow and the trees strung with lights,
Then crept through "The Zone" with its bums and its thugs,
And entrepreneurs selling ladies and drugs. At last we reached Chinatown, rushed through the gate,
Past bakeries, markets, shops and cafes,
In search of a restaurant: "Which one? Lets decide!"
We chose "Hunan Chozer," and ventured inside.Around us sat others, their platters piled high
With the finest of foods their money could buy:
There was roast duck and fried squid, (sweet, sour and spiced,)
Dried beef and mixed veggies, lo mein and fried rice,Whole fish and moo shi and shrimp chow mee foon,
And General Gaus chicken and ma po tofu....
When at last we decided, and the waiter did call,
We said: "Skip the menu!" and ordered it all.And when in due time the food was all made,
It came to the table in a sort of parade.
Before us sat dim sum, spare ribs and egg rolls,
And four different soups, in four great, huge bowls. The courses kept coming, from spicy to mild,
And higher and higher toward the ceiling were piled.
And while this went on, we became aware
Every diner around us had started to stare.Their jaws hanging open, they looked on unblinking;
Some dropped their teacups, some drooled without thinking.
So much piled up, one dish after the other,
My girlfriend and I couldn't see one another! Now we sat there, we two, without proper utensils,
While they handed us something that looked like two pencils.
We poked and we jabbed till our fingers were sore
And half of our dinner wound up on the floor. We tried -- how we tried! -- but, sad truth to tell,
Ten long minutes later and still hungry as well,
We swallowed our pride, feeling vaguely like dorks,
And called to our waiter to bring us two forks. We fressed and we feasted, we slurped and we munched.
We noshed and we supped, we breakfastd and lunched.
We ate till we couldn't and drank down our teas
And barely had room for our fortune cookies. But my fortune was perfect; it summed up the mood
When it said: "Pork is kosher, when its in Chinese food."
And my girlfriend -- well ... she got a real winner;
Hers said: "Your companion will pay for the dinner."Our bellies were full and at last it was time
To travel back home and write some bad rhyme
Of our Chinatown trek (and to privately speak
About trying to refine our chopstick technique). The MSG spun round and round in our heads,
As we tripped and we laughed and gaily we said,
As we carried our leftovers home through the night;
" Good Yom Tov to all -- and to all a Good Night!"
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Titled "The Secret Life of Gingerbread Men," complete with a fire pit and a "cute" little cookie-Hitler, because in their secret life, even cookies hate the joos:

There's nothing wrong with using a little anti-semitism to celebrate Christmas, right? Wrong. The "artist" hopes people will think its cute, but it appears most see it for what it is, a disgusting display meant to encourage hatred.

Today's the Day!
The good news is there should be at least a few less moonbats on the streets today...

Of course, abortion statistics (and aids as well) will likely spike up in the next couple of months, but, that's a small price to pay for peace on earth, and just in time for Christmas!

Merry Fucking Christmas
I heard there is no Christmas
In the silly Middle East
No trees, no snow, no Santa Claus
They have different religious beliefs
They believe in Muhammad
And not in our holiday
And so every December
I go to the Middle East and say...
"Hey there Mr. Moslem
Merry fucking Christmas
Put down that book the Koran
And hear some holiday wishes.
In case you haven't noticed
its Jesus' birthday
so get off your heathen moslem ass
and fucking celebrate!"

Tehrani Johnny
Some poetic whimsy...
Teherani Johnni
The gift that keeps on giving,
That’s what John Kerry is;
As long as that fool’s living,
He’ll keep us blogs in biz.
Big John’s too dumb to ever get
His big foot from his mouth;
So at ease, relax, you Swiftvets,
His campaign’s headed south.
He began his long tradition,
While still wearing Navy blue,
Of practicing sedition,
Against vets like me, like you.
As a second john in Paris,
He courted Madame Binh,
Who hooked her nail in his naris,
And sent her songbird home to sing.
And now he’s right back to it,
Lurching into media light;
Again he says he’ll do it,
So damn sure he is right.
He’ll go see Imawhackjob,
To plan how we’ll surrender,
Another stab us in the back job,
The only plan Big John can render.
They’ll fete him sure in Teheran,
Perhaps with parades and floats,
A happy, winning, waving John,
So far from those Swift boats.
His treason will put a big smile
On the face of many a Teherani,
So proud of Imawhackjob’s guile,
In creating Teherani Johnni.

Fearsome Warriors Indeed

Iraqi soldiers bit the heads off frogs and ate the heart of a rabbit as signs of courage on Wednesday at a ceremony to transfer Najaf province, home to one of Shi'ite Islam's holiest shrines, from U.S. to Iraqi control.
Politicians, tribal and religious leaders and soldiers watched displays of military prowess and one demonstration, hailed as a display of courage, in which five soldiers stopped before the grandstand to bite the heads off frogs.
A sixth holding a live rabbit slit open its stomach and ate its heart before tossing the carcass to his comrades to chew on.
Troops paraded round in shining new vehicles decked with pink ribbons and flowers...
Yup, nothing shows strength like biting the head off a frog and eating the heart of a rabbit.
G-d help us.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Fascist
They're quirky, vibrant, and they march to the beat of their own military drums, when they're not off committing crimes against humanity. Since time immemorial, autocrats, absolute monarchs, dictators, and less than savory heads of state have shown a penchant for the unconventional and over-the-top, in both their personal lives and political careers.

According to one journalist, however, details indicate that when it comes to his well-known visitors, the commander likes to watch—via hidden surveillance devices, that is. Among those allegedly caught on tape were Nicholson and Campbell, whose purported Cuban sabbatical with her travel companions, Kate Moss and Leonardo DiCaprio, was rumored to cause intelligence services to up the surveillance level to "priority." When Castro attempted to blackmail director Pedro Almodóvar, testified a former Cuban intelligence officer, the Spaniard was nonplussed, adding that everyone already knew he was a "maricón."
Everything you ever wanted to know, and more.

Haj On Baby!
Now here is a brilliant bit of satire found in the most unlikeliest of places...
PRESS RELEASE
EMBARGO DATE: December 15, 2006, 4 PM.IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM AND TOLERANCE, AND IN HARMONY WITH OUR GAY MUSLIM BROTHERS AND SISTERS, WE PROUDLY ANNOUNCE THE FIRST MARCH TO MECCA, FEBRUARY 14, 2007
Human Rights Watch, Moveon.org, ACT-UP, the Huffington Post and David Geffen are proud to present the March to Mecca, a celebration of peace that calls all gay brothers, sisters and people undergoing sex-reassignment to march to the holiest of holy cities, Mecca, the capital city of Saudi Arabia's Makkah province on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2007.
Oh baby! I dunno if Greg Gutfeld made that site, but I wouldn't be surprised. He holds nothing back here:
The march, a brainchild of activists and celebrities who acknowledge that more gays are dying from Islamic fundamentalism than from the policies of George W. Bush, will begin 12 noon sharp in Jeddah, the stunning night-life friendly Saudi Arabian city located on the coast of the Red Sea.
OMG! You just know that some heads exploded over that! But wait! There's more:
"Not marching in these countries, in this era of terror, seems cowardly," says event co-organizer Sharon Stone. "I'm embarrassed to say at social gatherings I even blamed the United States for everything. But I realized it's the radical Muslims - not the US - who want gays dead, and for that I am truly sorry."
Damn right! Too bad it is satire, because I would certainly donate money to support a gay march on mecca! In fact, I'd pay for Rosie's ticket myself!
Beth Ditto, lead singer of the Gossip, who will perform with the newly reformed Yaz, thinks the march is overdue. "Forget right wing Christians. They don't hang gays for being gay. Islamofascists do. That's why were asking moderate, non-violent Muslims across the Western Province to join hands and embrace gay people everywhere."
"Almost half of all Muslim countries outlaw gay relations," says Huffington Post contributor Gene Stone, "and more than 70 countries ban all homosexuality, sometimes making it punishable by death. And here I am, blogging about how bad Renew America is. LOL."
"Think about the two teenagers convicted of homosexuality who were hanged in Iran last year," says Harry Shearer, "It makes all the hay we made over Mark Foley at the Huffington Post seem stupid. I, for one, am tired of being part of the problem."
The comments at HuffPost are a riot, half of them actually take the article and the event seriously and the other half... well... there is a petition to get Greg Gutfeld off HuffPost, and a petition to support the petition to get Greg Gutfeld off HuffPost!
I heart Greg Gutfeld.

Today's IDF Moment
The soldiers of the Yahalom ("Diamond") unit, the elite unit of the Combat Engineering corps, have found an original way to celebrate Hannukah. The "Andros" robot lit the Menorah, which in normal times is used for ongoing security uses and lessens the chances of soldiers being hurt. Besides lighting candles the robot also served as a waiter when it dished up doughnuts.

The "Andros" robot, like the other IDF robots, is part of the "Bezeq" division, the IDF's robotics division, part of Yahalom. "Bezeq" is responsible for developing and operating the robots which are used for various tasks in the IDF, especially in removal and neutralizing of bombs. The unit's soldiers who operate the robots stand at the forefront together with the IDF's fighters and are resposnible for operating the robots in real time. The various robots are used by the IDF in dangerous tasks which in the past would have been carried out by soliders, thus avoiding needless danger.

With Age Comes Wisdom
While reading Patrick Conroy's essay, titled "An Honest Confession by an American Coward" and linked above, I had mixed feelings about the man, his thoughts, his opinions, his past, and his present. They were difficult to sum up, and like many people, I came away feeling that yes, it takes a lot of courage to look at your past and find fault in your reasoning and your actions, and it takes a lot of courage to admit that publically.
After hearing Al Kroboth's story of his walk across Vietnam and his brutal imprisonment in the North, I found myself passing harrowing, remorseless judgment on myself. I had not turned out to be the man I had once envisioned myself to be. I thought I would be the kind of man that America could point to and say, "There. That's the guy. That's the one who got it right. The whole package. The one I can depend on."
It had never once occurred to me that I would find myself in the position I did on that night in Al Kroboth's house in Roselle, New Jersey: an American coward spending the night with an American hero.
Confessions of a peacenik who has come to realize that he was wrong, dead wrong, about the United States of America and the troops who protect this country with courage, dignity and honor. It has an added bonus, the story of a hero, a Vietnam Veteran, who suffered horror upon horror, while the peaceniks indulged in sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. And it has some thoughts that are worthy of being quoted:
"America is good enough to die for even when she is wrong."
But this sentence in Patrick's confession left a sour taste in my mouth:
"I understand now that I should have protested the war after my return from Vietnam, after I had done my duty for my country."
It seems to me that Patrick has a bit more to learn about cowardice and a lot more to learn about supporting the troops who do the hard stuff so you can sit back and do the easy stuff. Patrick still needs to learn the simple truth that you can't support the troops without supporting their mission.
The former soldiers who crawled into bed with the anti-war crowd upon their return from battle did great damage to our troops and their mission, they not only abandoned their brothers-in-arms, they turned on them like a pack of rabid dogs. If joining them is what hindsight makes him wish he had done, then I believe Patrick Conroy has to look a little deeper, and travel a little further down the path of redemption for his actions in the 60s.
It seems to me that Patrick landed just short of the mark. But that's just my opinion.
After you read Patrick Conroy's confession, go read what Vietnam Veteran Russ Vaughn has to say about it.
As long as we are on the subject, if you are interested, you might want to read "Vietnam: Looking Back at the Facts" by K. G. Sears, Ph.D.
The anti-war movement was akin to a national temper tantrum that eventually engulfed and the afflicted the entire nation with its warped rational. This group, fueled and led by dodgers and their cohorts, were responsible for poisoning the American public’s mind on the subject of Vietnam. Eventually those dodging hoards, and their cronies in the US media, influenced the body politic to elect a Congress that stripped the soldiers who fought in Vietnam of their victories, and voted to cut and run in the face of adversity. To this very day, academia, the media, the politicians, talking heads, and the draft dodging multitudes continuously feed off one another with their preposterous and deceptive hallucinations about “Vietnam.”
Sound familiar?

Candles of Hope

Since the abduction of IDF soldiers Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev more than five months ago, the citizens of Israel and pro-Israel communities around the world have been praying for their wellbeing. This Hanukkah - the holiday of lights – Ynetnews, in coordination with the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization, invite you to light a Hanukkah candle in their honor.
As individuals our light is weak, but together we will shine brightly and light a huge flame to express our common concern and hope that Gilad, Ehud and Eldad return safely home.
So, I lit a candle. It may not seem like much, but it's more than Olmert has done to bring them home, and their families will see the outpouring of support. 10045 have been lit so far, you can light one by clicking on the picture.

O Little Lights of Mystery

O little lights of mystery
You recall our history
And all that went before
The battles and the bravery
And our release from slavery
Miracles galore.
As my eyes behold your flames
I recall our heroes' names
And our ancient dream:
“Jews were learning how to fight
To defeat an awesome might
They could reign supreme”
“They would rule their own domain
When the enemy was slain,
The Temple cleansed and whole.
Once there was a Jewish land
And a mighty Jewish hand.”
Oh, how it moves my soul!
O little lights of mystery
You retell our history
Your tales are tales of pain.
My heart is filled with fears
My eyes are filled with tears
"What now?" says the haunting refrain
The above Chanukah poem was written by Morris Rosenfeld, in Yiddish, at a time when the land of Israel was a dream within a dream and the idea of Jews fighting for and gaining their homeland seemed impossible. Morris died in 1924, before the dream first became a reality, and then, became a nightmare:
Hell is a Jewish state devoid of Jewish values that picks up where the anti-Semites, the pogromers, and the exilers left off. Hell is a Jewish prime minister who has become a cannibal of his own people. Hell is when a country has lost its will to exist and begins a process of national suicide. Hell is when Jews with Jewish values have become outcast in their own land. Hell is when the Jewish state becomes worse than the exile. - Gershon Perlman
Tonight is Shabbat Chanukah.
Isaiah 31:4 For thus saith the LORD unto me: Like as the lion, or the young lion, growling over his prey, though a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them; so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.
Isaiah 31:5 As birds hovering, so will the LORD of hosts protect Jerusalem; He will deliver it as He protecteth it, He will rescue it as He passeth over.
I believe in miracles.
Amen.

"Christmastime, Back Home - A Soldier's Prayer"
In "Christmastime, Back Home - A Soldier's Prayer," Sgt. Daniel M. Clark "portrays" a U.S. Soldier in Iraq singing about the blessings of Christmastime, back in the states. Sgt. Clark is a former U.S. Marine, and 20-year-veteran of the Massachusetts State Police. The video was filmed at Otis Air National Guard Base, Cape Cod, MA and at locations throughout New England at Christmastime.
This is a beautiful thing, and an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to.
Now, believe it or not, the song was written by a liberal democrat moonbat, who is now running around demanding that the video be removed from certain conservative sites and even threatening copyright violations if conservative sites post her video from You Tube. I do so love them tolerant compassion liberal demorats.

Its the Weblog Awards
Yup, its that time of the year again... when some bloggers turn to email spam and begging, demanding, whining, and pleading for the right to put a graphic in their sidebar. Yes. Wizbang's annual Weblog Awards are up.
Still, its your opportunity to do a little back-patting and give your favorite bloggers an atta-boy. Provided they made it through the nominations and into the finals.
I can tell you from personal experience that it is truly an honor just be nominated, even if nominations don't count and some people who aren't nominated make the finals, knocking out those who were nominated in what can only be called a fair and balanced competition. Ha! I gotta laugh.
Anyways, we are at the point now where the winner has already been decided in most catagories and we are now in the "neener neener" stage, where bloggers just want more votes than someone else in the same category. In other words, they know they can't win, but they want to beat someone else. You can vote once a day from every computer you can get your hands on, because this ain't the nominations baby, and this time your vote will count, not just once, but over and over and over again. Vote now and vote often.
Click here and vote for Vince Aut Morire, and no, he didn't give me $5 to say that.
Click here and vote for The Jawa Report, even if Rusty still won't give me a link.
Cick here and vote for Knowledge is Power, or vote for Curmodgeonly and Skeptical. I'm voting for Sondra at home and Rodger at work, effectively canceling my vote in this category, but what the heck! I read both every day, so I vote for both every day.
Click here and vote for Armies of Liberation, in doing so, you can piss off the Yemeni government! If you don't care about pissing off the Yemeni Government, then vote for The Elder of Zion, its a great blog and I nominated him for the award! I'm voting for them both, every day.
Cilck here and vote for My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, or Beth will either beat my fucking brains out, or goaste me. Seriously, Hoff was bad enough, but I hate goatse.
Click here and vote for Girl On the Right, because Conservative Girls are Hot, and especially Canadian Conservative Girls.
In the other categories, well, there's quite a few Cotillion Blogs to choose from and I've voted several times for all of them.
Even you don't vote, head on over the Weblog Awards and check out some really great blogs.
Neener neener.

Ka-Ching
Israel has just turned itself into a cash machine for terrorists.
In July 2005, the Knesset voted to amend an existing law and enable the Defense Minister to decree parts of Judea and Samaria as "conflict areas" - areas where the IDF is forced to take military action against terrorists. This categorization prevented Arabs in those areas who were hurt physically or monetarily by IDF activities from suing the State for damages.
Shortly afterwards, nine left-wing civil-rights groups, including Adallah and the Society for Civil Rights, filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the amendment. They claimed it violated basic tenets of humanitarian and international law, and that it impaired basic rights, in violation of the Basic Law dealing with Human Dignity and Freedom.
The Supreme Court's ruling, handed down today, left intact the fact that Arabs hurt in anti-terror activities may not apply for damages. However, it nullified the blanket assertion that all IDF activity in a given place automatically renders such activity "anti-terrorist." The Defense Minister may no longer categorize certain areas as "conflict areas" in which damage to Arab property or persons need not be compensated.
Instead, such Arabs may now apply for damages.
If nothing else, the litigation itself is liable to bankrupt the country, considering that everything that happens to arabs is blamed on Israel:
MK Benny Elon (National Union) responded sharply: "Israel has always been responsible for damages caused in non-war activities, such as car accidents and the like. But now, the Court has changed the concept of war activities and reduced their scope."
That's right Benny, the evil Joos are responsible for everything, including injuries on a playground swing set.
The insanity of the left is destroying Israel faster than the Katyushas and Qassams, already, the vultures are circling.

A Muslim convert who talked about his desire to wage jihad against civilians was charged Friday in a plot to set off hand grenades at a shopping mall during the Christmas rush, authorities said.
"He fixed on a day of December 22nd on Friday ... because it was the Friday before Christmas and thought that would be the highest concentration of shoppers that he could kill and injure," said Robert Grant, the agent in charge of the Chicago FBI office.

Ah, Satire...
In a brilliant piece of satire, Robert J. Avrech nails the terrorist reaction to the ISG Report:
Ahmed: Allah be praised, we can keep the Americans talking right up until the moment we slit their infidel throats.
Muhammed: Americans have no stomach for war or for casualties.
Ahmed: All we have to do is wait them out. Americans have no patience.
Muhammed: We must keep killing as many civilians as possible.
Ahmed: Women and children are fine targets. Americans cannot deal with such deaths. They do not understand that dead Muslims are martyrs and will go to heaven for the cause.
Muhammed: We don't even have to kill that many American soldiers, the blessed Martyrs killed more in one day in the Twin Towers than we have managed to kill in all the five years the Americans have been here in Iraq. But the Americans are soft, decadent, and only want to play video games, and watch Pamela Anderson movies.

Hostilities Exist

U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, December 8, 1941:
Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American Island of Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. I regret to tell you that very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.
Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong. Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. And this morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.
Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.
But always will our full national remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December seventh, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire."
A complete list of those lost: Never forget the brave.

It begins
Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil exporter, plans to reduce its use of the U.S. dollar in world trade and increase use of the euro, two Tehran-based newspapers reported.
The Tehran Times said today Iran has started substituting euros for dollars in oil sales, citing an unidentified person at the Oil Ministry. Iran Daily reported Iran wants to cut its dollar-based transactions to a minimum, citing Minister of Economy Davoud Danesh-Ja'fari.
According to Bloomberg, Iran has added a clause to its oil contracts allowing it to demand payment in the euro and other currencies since the US decided last September to block Saderat Bank (one of Iran’s biggest state-owned lenders) from doing business in the US as punishment for the Bank’s support of Hezbollah and Hamas.
The timing on this is critical, as the dollar touched a 20-month low against the euro this week, and central banks in the Middle East including the United Arab Emirates have plans to convert some of their dollar reserves into euros.
and... EU-Iran-oil
A spokesperson for the European Commission declined Wednesday to comment on media reports that Iran has started replacing dollar with euro in majority of its crude oil exchanges in the last several months.
"I have no comment. This would be a free decision for a government or company to use a particular currency than its own for invoicing the products that it sells," said EU spokesperson for economic affairs Amelia Torres.
"It is not something we encourage or discourage. We leave it to the markets and the forces in the market," added Torres.
If the dollar drops (and it has been dropping) the Chinese – who hold more dollars than almost anyone else – are losing lots of money. That's not a bad thing, since it should encourage them to stop buying dollars and start selling them; and allow their currency to rise relative to the dollar.
That's all well and good, but if the dollar gets dumped, if it drops too far and too fast, everything we buy from the rest of the world is going to start costing a lot more. That's going to push inflation up and the only way we can continue to finance our budget deficit is to push up our interest rates.
This is called stagflation – inflation combined with no or negative growth. Wall Street ain't gonna like that.
Don't kid yourself or be mislead by the MSM. This is economic warfare, pure and simple.

What's next, Candygrams for Bin Laden?
I'm working my way through The Iraq Study Group Report.
RECOMMENDATION 34: The question of the future U.S. force presence must be on the table for discussion as the
national reconciliation dialogue takes place. Its inclusion will increase the likelihood of participation by insurgents and militia leaders, and thereby increase the possibilities for success.Violence cannot end unless dialogue begins, and the dialogue must involve those who wield power, not simply those who hold political office. The United States must try to talk directly to Grand Ayatollah Sistani and must consider appointing a highlevel American Shia Muslim to serve as an emissary to him. The United States must also try to talk directly to Moqtada al-Sadr, to militia leaders, and to insurgent leaders. The United Nations can help facilitate contacts.
After we get rid of Israel, of course.

That was then...
Guess who said this... and bonus points for when it was said
… I am opposed to an independent Palestinian state, because in my own judgement and in the judgement of many leaders in the Middle East, including Arab leaders, this would be a destabilizing factor in the Middle East and would certainly not serve the United States interests.
———-…we oppose the creation of an independent Palestinian state. The United States, as all of you know, has a warm and unique relationship of friendship with Israel that is morally right. It is compatible with our deepest religious convictions, and it is right in terms of America’s own strategic interests. We are committed to Israel’s security, prosperity, and future as a land that has so much to offer to the world. A strong Israel and a strong Egypt serve our own security interests. We are committed to Israel’s right to live in peace with all its neighbors, within secure and recognized borders, free from terrorism. We are committed to a Jerusalem that will forever remain undivided with free access to all faiths to the holy places. Nothing will deflect us from these fundamental principles and committments.
The answer is...

"Oh warrior brothers, this is a nation that will never be broken, it is a revolution that will never be defeated. This is a nation that gives an example every day that is imitated across the world. We gave the world the children of the RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenades), we gave the world the children stone (throwers), and we gave the world the male and female martyrdom-seekers (suicide bombers)."
- Ahmed Hales Abu Maher, Secretary of Fatah in Gaza, appearing on Palestinian Authority TV, operated under the direct supervision of Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority and the commander of the Fateh on Nov. 14
Such is the contribution of Israel's Partners in Peace.
I cannot help but wonder at the insanity of Condoleezza Rice as she once again sat down last week with the Commander of the Al Aksa Brigades, nodding in agreement with their plans and offering them assistance in their goals, promising arms, and giving them her seal of approval.
Why? What could possibly rationalize and justify the United States of America's arming of a terrorist group?
You might care enough to ask, but you won't get an answer. When the US State Department was asked if Rice would ask Abbas to instruct his security forces to try and stop the rocket attacks and whether Abbas would disarm Al Aksa Brigades, the answer was "No Comment."
No comment on the fact the Al Aksa Brigades took credit for firing missiles into the Western Negev region of Israel, after a cease fire had been declared by Abbas and by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
No comment, just an offer to arm Abbas and his Fatah party with 6,000 rifles, despite the concrete evidence that the Fatah continues to carry out terror attacks in coordination with the Hamas.
No comment on why the United States is aiding and supporting a group that is listed by the office of the U.S. Secretary of State as an active terrorist organization.
We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or no rest. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. --U.S. President George W. Bush

Amen
