Prepare your kids for potential violence

Here's a heap of horseshit from Daniel Vasquez titled "Prepare your kids for potential violence."

According to Vasquez, the number one thing to teach your children: Run away. Hide. Don't look at the killer, don't taunt the killer. Call your mommy.

I'm surprised he left out "beg for your life."

Not a single word about self-defense. Not a single word about arming yourself. Just run, hide, and pray that the killer kills someone else, anyone else, even everyone else, just not you.

And why not, the same message comes from the House and the Senate, with the passing of the Surrender Bill.

Meanwhile, gun sales are up because we're Americans dammit, and we don't like being victims. Its no wonder that circulation is down yet again for mainstream newspapers such as the one that published this article.

So. Meet my new best friend:

Its the Kimber Ultra Carry. Gun Week gave it an excellent review.

We. Must. Read. Each. Others. Minds.

I JUST bought 4 of these babies...one for each of my daughters and one for me. My girls are in college and we're not about to leave them at the mercy of campus security and local Swat Teams. No.

This gun came with many recommendations from my local gun guy who just happened to be a Marine, a Gunny Sgt at that. My X is also a Marine and as much as I hate to credit him with much, he originally recommended this weapon. I also bought us all a Smith and Wesson model. We're well armed; well trained - again the X taught us everything we need to know and we all qualify as marksmen...with training down at Camp Lejeune. Feels good to carry such a classy weapon too.

I AM SO GOING TO LINK TO THIS article.

Linda, I emailed you a pocket carry PDF file but you didn't respond, did you get it?
It was an excellent guide to small concealed carry pistols (on revolver) with details on each of the weapons.

I read the article, it wasn't all that bad, know your surroundings, know how to avoid a bad situation, although it was just a fluff piece..."Use your cell phone", "Know first aid" all important things to know, put those are fluff items. I did not see a "run away, run away" You can not carry a gun on a Florida campus, and not everyone does so this was a stupid fluff piece with simple common sense things to fill out a column of newsprint or text on a webpage. I did not read it as a "run away" article.

DoubleU, the first suggestion Vasquez makes in the article is to run away. That's great if you have a chance to run, but its also a good way to get shot in the back. I don't think its wise to give children, or adults, fluff when it comes to life and death situations, not if you want them to survive.

I did see the PDF, I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to thank you for sending it. It was helpful, but the decision maker for me was actually firing the Kimber. It was a good fit, and comfortable in my hand. Its light and easy to conceal and it came very highly recommended.

It is nice to be able to put a larger weapon in a purse or handbag, I carry neither. I am looking for something small enough to fit in my pocket. People have said wear bigger pants and place my 9mm inside my waistband, I don't know if I want that. For people interested in ultra-compact handguns, here is a nice PDF file with that info.

Florida does not allow guns on school/campus grounds, running to the sound of gun fire is just as foolish as running away. Having a weapon does not make you a cop, and having a weapon does not make you invincible.
