Today's Anti-Semite:

Pope Shenouda of the Coptic Church:

THE LEADER of the Coptic Church, Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria told Egyptian television last month the Western Churches were wrong to exonerate Jews for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and criticised recent statements apologising for Christian anti-Semitism. In an interview with Dream 2 TV broadcast on April 8, Shenouda was asked if the Coptic Church would follow the lead of the Western Christian churches. Shenouda responded that the Christian Churches had “done nothing that warrants an apology,” adding he believed the apologies were being “done for appearance’s sake.”

Asked whether Jews were “Christ-killers”, responsible for the crucifixion, Shenouda stated, “The New Testament says that they are,” and asked rhetorically whether the Vatican was “against the teachings of the New Testament?”

Shenouda stated he had banned Copts from visiting Israel for fear they will “be influenced by the Israeli media, and we will not be able to prevent this. Who knows what ideas they will return with?”

------

Hmph. I don't personally know anyone from the Coptic Church. I wonder how they feel about this.

If I were to parade around dressed up like some kind of militant Santa Claus, I'd be a tad more circumspect about the crap that flowed from my mouth.

Militant Santa Claus? hahahahaha! I thought he looked Burger King.

I tried calling the Regional offices of the Coptic Church to ask them how they felt about this.

They said good-bye and then hung up me.

I'm not familiar with the Coptic church, but I am a Christian offended by his comments, in order to come up with his position you would have to blame the entire Jewish race for the actions of a few corrupt politicians of the day who were bent on maintaining the status quo.

yes Christians and Jews disagree on whether Jesus is the Messiah, and there has been offenses committed against Jews in the past by many churches, and there were Christians persecuted by Jews way back in times roman.

today we have a self-proclaimed enemy against us both, Fundamentalist Islam. I think we'd best pay attention to them and quit the quibbling amongst ourselves.

the coptic church has much more to fear from Islam than Israel or the Jews, I can't see how this Idjit could live in alexandria and not notice this, of course if he said that he wouldn't be around long, would he?

The alleged reasoning behind this rankles me somehow. It's just like Mel Gibson's idiocy. The Jews (which Jews...the entire race?!) supposedly abetted Pontius Pilate in the removal of Christ (at the time, very much a thorn in everyone's side, politically speaking) from the firmament? Like this is somehow a peculiar motivation? I haven't any more clue as to what happened two millenia ago than Mel, but, just hypothetically, let's say that a fistful of rabbis DID give a few cheers or pass along some words of support to the Romans.

WHAT OF IT?!!

As "history," it's both ANCIENT as well as ALLEGED. And even if it were true, it's not like a puny little coterie of Jews nailed Christ to the cross. Nobody's ever made THAT claim, not even Rosie "look at how my mouth can fit over an 18-wheel semi's tailpipe" O'Donnell makes that case. The Romans did it, no ifs, buts or sidebars!

With all due regard and respect to Jews and Christians, this is really a sad case of splitting idiotically irrelevant semantic hairs in the name of perpetuating anti-Semitism. If this pathetic little case is all these Coptics can come up with, I say they're too stupid to make a case for their own particular brand of Christianity (which, let's not forget, would then be based on an ideology of hatred).

Maybe these Coptics should start praying five times a day and beat their wives so they can fit in with the rest of their ilk.

I fucking hate stupid people.

There. That's my rant and I'm proud of it.

Well, I was going to give this gasbag the benefit of the doubt, because Coptic Christians are a tiny island in a sea of Islam, and it makes sense their leader would spout this nonsense on Egyptian t.v. as a survival tactic, but I see he decided to slap his fellow Christans as well.

Thanks to idiots like this who refuse to stand up for their faith, Copts and other Christian minorities in Muslim countries won't last much longer.

Except maybe in museum exhibits.

Congratulations, "Pope," you maybe saved one Coptic church from being burned this year. But they'll be back.

One last thing. Someone should remind this dope that Jesus wasn't a Christian. He was a Jew. So when blaming Jews for the world's ills, he's blaming our Savior.

I can't begin to tell you how weary I am of this happy horseshit.

Thank you, everyone, for saying what I'm just too damn tired to express.
