Shabbat Shalom
Our Father in Heaven, Rock and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first manifestation of the approach of our redemption. Shield it with Your loving kindness, envelop it in Your peace, and bestow Your light and truth upon its leaders, ministers, and advisors, and grace them with Your good counsel. Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.

Congressional Anti-Jew Who's Who
Ed Lasky over at American Thinker points out:
Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) has been a stalwart supporter of the American-Israel alliance. He recently introduced an amendment to the foreign aid bill that would prohibit groups that deny Israel's right to exist from receiving American (taxpayer dollar) foreign aid. The amendment passed 390-30.
Of the 30 members of Congress who have no problem with giving money to groups that advocate and plan for the destruction of Israel, 27 of them were Democrats.

So. Let's talk numbers. When given a choice, 12% of Congressional Democrats voted to support countries that deny Israel's right to exist, against 1.5% of the Republicans. It would appear that one in eight democrats are in favor of pushing the Jews into the sea, and I'm sorry to say, the majority of black members of Congress are part of that 12%.

Police avert car bomb 'carnage'
A car bomb planted in central London would have caused "carnage" if it had exploded, police sources have said.
Officers carried out a controlled explosion on the car which was loaded with petrol, gas cylinders and nails at 0200 BST in Haymarket.
Police were alerted by an ambulance crew who spotted smoke coming from the silver Mercedes, which was parked near the Tiger Tiger nightclub.
They're saying that the the bomb had the "potential" to kill 1700 people.

Reason # 6847485960568
The 71-year-old retired Marine who opened fire on two robbers at a Plantation sub shop late Wednesday, killing one and critically wounding the other, is described as a former pilot for two presidents.
''He's in great shape,'' Wesley White said of his longtime friend, John Lovell. ``He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he works out every day.''
Lovell was a man of action Wednesday night.
According to Plantation police, two masked gunmen came into the Subway at 1949 N. Pine Rd. just after 11 p.m.
There was a lone diner -- Lovell, who was finishing his meal.
After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove Lovell into a bathroom and rob him as well.
They got his money.
But then Lovell pulled his handgun, opened fire, shooting one of the thieves in the head and chest and the other in the head.
When police arrived, they found one of the men in the shop. K-9 units found the other in the bushes of a nearby business.
They also found cash strewn around the front of the sandwich shop.
''There were fives and rolls of coins everywhere,'' said Detective Robert Rettig of the Plantation Police Department.
Both men were taken to Broward General Medical Center, where one, Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale died.
The other, 21-year-old Frederick Gadson of Fort Lauderdale, is in critical but stable condition.
Lovell's friend White was not surprised to hear what happened.
''He'd give you the shirt off his back and he'd be mad if someone tried to take the shirt off your back,'' he said.
White said Lovell worked as a pilot for the Marines, flying former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He later worked as a pilot for Pan Am and Delta.
Lovell is not married and does not have children.
He is not expected to be charged, authorities said.
''He was in fear for his life,'' Rettig said.
Two in row, and this one is local! Nice shooting Sir, and one less scumbag!
Thanks Lloyd for the tip. Makes my day!

Reason # 6847485960567
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Bill Barnes says he was scratching off a losing $2 lottery ticket inside a gas station when he felt a hand slip into his front-left pants pocket, where he had $300 in cash.
He immediately grabbed the person's wrist with his left hand and started throwing punches with his right, landing six or seven blows before a store manager intervened.
"I guess he thought I was an easy mark," Barnes, 72, told The Grand Rapids Press for a story Tuesday.
He's anything but an easy mark: Barnes served in the Marines, was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer and retired after 20 years as an iron worker.
Jesse Daniel Rae, the 27-year-old Newaygo County man accused of trying to pick Barnes' pocket, was arraigned Monday in Rockford District Court on one count of unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony.
Barnes said he had just withdrawn the money from a bank machine and put it in the pocket of his shorts before driving to the Marathon service station and Next Door Food Store in Comstock park, a Grand Rapids suburb.
He remembers noticing a patron acting suspiciously, asking the price of different brands of cigarettes and other items. While turned away, Barnes felt the hand in his pocket, so he took action.
"I guess I acted on instinct," he said.
Kent County sheriff's deputies said the store manager quickly came around the counter. The three of them struggled through the front door, where two witnesses said the manager slammed Rae to the ground and held him there.
"There was blood everywhere," said another manager on duty, Abby Ostrom, 25.
Barnes was a regional runner-up in Golden Gloves competition in the novice and open divisions before enlisting in the Marines in 1956.
He lived most of his adult life in Comstock Park with his wife, Patricia, before recently moving to Ottawa County. The couple have three children.
After retiring as an iron worker, he now works part-time as a starter at a golf course.
Barnes said he'd probably do the same thing again under the same circumstances, if for no other reason than what he would face back home.
"I wouldn't want my wife to give me hell for lettin' that guy get my money," he said with a smile.
-------------
Thank you so much for the tip, Austin, this is just the kind of story I needed to read today.

In Memory of Daniel Agami
Pfc. Daniel Agami will be remembered for patriotism, devotion to faith
PARKLAND -- Daniel Agami's parents were surprised two years ago when he announced he was joining the Army.
They called him their beloved son. The military called him great promotional material and planned to have him appear in an advertising campaign. Because of his adherence to his faith, his fellow infantrymen affectionately called him "G.I. Jew."
Pfc. Agami, 25, was killed with four other soldiers in a Humvee on Thursday while patrolling Iraq. The Department of Defense announced Monday that he died of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near the vehicle.
Agami was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, in Schweinfurt, Germany. He will be buried today.
The Army notified his parents, who live in Parkland, on Friday. On Monday, they were in shock, dealing with the pain of the death of their son, who had spoken to them with passion about his mission overseas.
"He felt a responsibility to his country," said his father, Itzhak Agami.
"He was totally patriotic," said his mother, Beth Agami.
Lt. Col. Doug Maddox, the Army's casualty assistance officer, called Agami an "exemplary soldier."
"He will be receiving several awards — the Purple Heart, Army commendation medal, Bronze Star — that will be presented to the family at the funeral," Maddox said.
Born in Ohio, Agami came to South Florida with his family when he was 4 and lived in several cities in Broward, including Coconut Creek, Margate and, most recently, Coral Springs and Parkland. He attended the Hebrew Academy Community School, in Margate.
He told his parents how in the Army, many of his comrades from the Midwest had never met a Jew.
In a speech to Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton Beach when he visited home during Passover, he told congregants how he went to Fort Benning, Ga., for basic training and quickly found that "many meals involved pork," which Jews who keep kosher are not allowed to eat.
"But the drill sergeant was very accommodating to me," he added.
Agami said he faced "bloody battles with insurgents. I go on daily or nightly missions raiding Iraqi homes to find weapons and bombs. … The deaths of my friends have been traumatic. I lost six of my closest friends. … America fights for freedom and survival for the souls of the entire world."
-------------
I feel so sad, its hard to find words. This afternoon, we say good-bye.
His resting place shall be in the Garden of Eden.
Therefore, the Master of mercy will care for him
under the protection of His wings for all time
And bind his soul in the bond of everlasting life.
God is his inheritance and he will rest in peace
and let us say Amen.
Services are today at the Star of David funeral home at 7801 Bailey Rd. in North Lauderdale beginning at 3:30pm. I'll be there, please, come if you can make it.

Please visit In Memory of Daniel Agami, read about Danny and see his photos, light a candle in memory, share your thoughts with his family.

One Year Ago Today
Today marks one year that Gilad Shalit has been in the hands of terrorists.

Gilad Shalit was raised, the middle of three siblings in a small community in the rolling hills of northern Galilee, near Israel’s border with Lebanon. His father, Noam, is a manager at the Iscar machine tools company; his mother, Aviva, works at the Society for the Protection of Nature. His brother is a college student and his sister is at high school.
Friends describe Gilad as studious, good at physics and a little shy. But they say he is quite determined in his own quiet way, and that when he was called up a year ago he volunteered to join a combat unit. His elder brother, Yoel, 21, is a student at a polytechnic in the northern Israeli port of Haifa. He has a younger sister at high school.
Today, no one knows where Gilad is, or even whether he is still alive. There has been one note early on, but no "proof of life" since then for Gilad. Hamas acknowledges they have him, the Israeli Government rewards his kidnappers and the rest of the world is silent. Its so hard to write about him. My heart just hurts.
Please, take a moment to think of Gilad Shalit, and pray for his well being and safe return.
-----------
UPDATE: An obviously coerced and cruelly calculated audio tape of Gilad has been released by Hamas.
How the hell can the world accept this and expect Israel to work with these animals? Consider what its saying, his health is deteriorating, he needs a prolonged hospitalization and they have him buried in a hole in the sand, denying him even basic medical care.
Dear L-rd, how I hate those bastards.
and... speaking of bastards, this is the true face of the democrats. Its hard to believe that this people are human, much less Americans.

Mmmmm... Beer-sickles
Last week, Alexandria, Va.'s Rustico Restaurant and Bar started selling "beer-sicles." They come in flavors like Fudgesicle, made with a dark beer called Bell's Kalamazoo Stout; Raspbeer-y, made with St. Louis Framboise; and Plum, made with a Chapeau Mirabelle.
"It tastes like beer on a stick," said Frank Morales, executive chef with Rustico. He worked on the popsicle with the restaurant's beer director, Greg Engert.
Other flavors — like Banana, made with Chapeau Banana Lambic — will be sold on a rotating basis. All will cost $4 for the traditional form on a stick and $6 for a beer cone, a larger version of the beer-sicle.
Looks like the Aussies are one step ahead...
Of course, big brother wants to put a stop to it:
But the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control tells the A-P the beer-sicles may violate state regulations. The regs require that beer be served in its original container or served to the customer immediately once it's poured. The department plans to send an agent to investigate. The people at the restaurant say they're working on a way to keep serving their beer pops, while complying with the law.

It's Hanging Time
On March 16, 1988, during Operation Anfal (which, by the way, means "the spoils") an estimated 5,000 civilians were killed and 10,000 injured when Iraqi air forces bombarded Halabja, a predominantly Kurdish city in northeastern Iraq, with mustard and other poison gases.
Al Majid is called Chemical Ali because he decided the best way to solve the Kurdish rebellion was to gas them. He orchestrated the gassing of Kurdish villages carried out by low-flying helicopters with express orders to kill every living thing in the area, including plants and wildlife.
Two decades after the massacre, the people of Halabja still suffer from very high rates of serious diseases such as cancer, neurological disorders, birth defects and miscarriages. Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons attack on Halabja was not an isolated incident. It was part of a systematic campaign ordered by Saddam Hussein and led by his cousin, Ali Hassan al-Majid.
and now...
BAGHDAD -- Two decades after Iraq's military laid waste to Kurdish villages, the Iraqi High Tribunal on Sunday sentenced Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali," and two others to death for their roles in the bloody campaign against the restive ethnic minority.
Al-Majid, a cousin of executed former president Saddam Hussein, was convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes for ordering army and security services to use chemical weapons in an offensive said to have killed some 180,000 people during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

One little life, saved
The little guy's mom was eight months pregnant and she was shot in the stomach by a family member.

On the Afghanistan border with Pakistan, our troops battled to save the lives of both mother and child.
Against all odds, our troops won that battle! It was touch and go for a while, but both Mom and baby are on their way to recovery.
Watch the clip, its amazing. I never would have expected such reporting from the BBC. I don't know how it got past the anti-American, anti-war censors, but I'm grateful that it did. Imagine what life would be like if more of these stories slipped past the censors and into the living rooms of America.
G-d bless our Troops! USA! USA!! USA!!!
UPDATE From the comments, Beth points out...
And! Those tribal animals are utterly barbaric. A family member shot her in the abdomen to kill the baby!
I do notice the Beeb said this is a "victim of Afghanistan's conflict," as if this shooting wouldn't ever have happened if there weren't a war going on. YEAH, RIGHT. They're f'ing animals. The only difference would be that nobody would be there saving the mother and baby. If anything, they're BENEFICIARIES of Afghanistan's conflict, but victims of 7th century Afghani culture.
You're absolutely right Beth, thank you!

Gitmo Poetry
From Jules Crittenden's Guantanamo Poetry Contest:
Second Thoughts
I think that I have never seen,
A poem as lovely as a U.S. Marine,
Standing there, so tall and straight,
He feeds me through an iron grate,
You know, jihad don’t make much sense,
When seen from behind a chain-link fence,
If I ever get out, t’ain’t goin’ back,
Gonna sail to Miami in a Cadillac
Gonna get me a green card, some damn way,
Sing the Star Spangled Banner the live-long day,
And when I say my prayers at night,
Won’t waggle my ass at an obscene height,
Gonna get down on my knees and pray,
Thank you, JESUS, for the USA!

Why we fight

On the same day that we learned about our troops' rescue of these children, Nancy Pelosi spoke about what our troops are doing in Iraq...
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the war in Iraq a “tragedy” and a “grotesque mistake...”
Last November the same Nancy Pelosi claimed "The three most important congressional issues of today are “our children, our children, our children: their health, their education, their economic security, their families, the environment in which they live, and safe neighborhoods.”
What is the war about?
On Saturday, April 14, 2007 a terrorist exploded in Kerbala. He killed and/or wounded more than 250 civilians. Most of the victims were shoppers and street salesmen. Among them were children on a school trip. Some of the victims burned to death.
This is what it looked like:

The war is not about Osama bin Laden, its about the ideology behind Osama bin Laden, the war is about the ideology behind the brutal and senseless murder of the child you see in the picture above, a child who should be laughing and playing and learning and living, a child who instead, perished in flames and agony, a victim of terror.
The war is about children like the ones our troops rescued.
If we lose this war, it means the people responsible have won, and it means that they have won because they killed enough children to make us give up. And it means they are free to continue kill, to continue their reign of terror.
Obviously, Nancy wasn't talking about the children in these pictures, and she wasn't talking about the other children who are killed in terror attacks. Because Nancy, and the rest of the democrats, have decided to reward the terrorists who kill innocents by turning over to them Iraq and its people. The democrats have decided to support and encourage the terrorists, instead of supporting our troops and their mission to put an end to terror.
I'm sickened by the hypocrisy of people who would claim that they are "all for the children" while they have decided not only to allow the abuse of that child, but are trying to convince us that to abandon Iraq to the terrorists responsible for bringing death to countless others is somehow the right thing to do. How do these democrats rationalize their support of the "resistence" that is responsible for such things?
How can anyone look at those pictures and decide that what our troops are doing is a tragedy and a grotesque mistake? How can anyone look at the end result of evil and decide to allow it continue? Because its there and not here? Is evil less evil because it happened over there and not over here?
Why can't harry Reid and John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the democrats see that if we have lost this war, then that means the terrorists have won this war?
Those aren't "our" children in those pictures, but it could easily be so, and it will be so, because if we let the terrorists win over there, they will be coming over here.
Losing is simply not an option.
G-d bless our troops for what they do, and yes, that includes you, Colonel Fred. You are my hero!

Oh the times... they are a changing...
Sheikh Abu Saqer, leader of the group Jihadia Salafiya, said that Gaza's Muslims "expect our Christian neighbors to understand the new Hamas rule means real changes. They must be ready for Islamic rule if they want to live in peace in Gaza".
In case you were wondering what that might be like:
“A group of unknown people attacked, burnt and looted the nuns’ building. They destroyed everything inside and stole the computers,” Father Manuel said. “They then invade the chapel, broke the furniture, burnt the sacred images and holy books. They threw the Sacred Species to the ground and destroyed everything on their path: beds, chairs, tables, curtains, shooting at the walls and setting them on fire. We don’t know who the thugs were because they came at night when the sisters were not present.”
I shudder to think what might have happened if the sisters were present when Hamas came a calling.
For his final comment on the subject, Gaza priest Fr Manuel Musallam said: "Our relations with the Muslims are not only good, they are excellent."
If he says so, well, I guess the definition of excellent relations means the desecration of your church, and the burning of your sacred images and holy books.
Maybe "excellent relations" means they just let you live.

And the real winner is...

Environment Minister Gidon Ezra (Kadima) has said that it is necessary to release the terrorist leader of the Tanzim, of Fatah, Marwan Barghouti, in order to strengthen the position of PA president Mahmoud Abbas and the moderate elements capable of leading the Palestinians. Marwan Barghouti was sentenced to several life sentences for his involvement in dozens of bloody attacks during the second Intifada. (Guysen.Israël.News)

Kill Kill Kill Kill
Burn, destroy, hate and kill some more. That's all they know.
I could link articles all day about this, the media is spinning out of control, nothing but news about the fighters and nothing about the terrorists. You want to know what's really happening, then read about it at IsraellyCool.
There are public executions, one man being shot more than 40 times in the back, while he was in the hospital. People being tossed off of buildings, madmen in the streets destroying everything and anything in their path, shouting alluah akbar.
As Gaza falls to Hamas, and the so-called Unity Government falls to pieces, the world lines up behind Abbas, the Holocaust denier and so-called moderate.
It would do the world well to remember that Abbas and his Fatah party has enjoyed the support of the United States of America and the EU, and UN since he came into power, and before that, Fatah, under Arafat, enjoyed our support.
The end result of that support is terrorism in Israel funded by United States taxpayer dollars. We fund and arm the Al-Aqsa terrorist group, which is part and parcel of Fatah, and they are responsible for many terrorist attacks on Israeli citizens. Even only a few months ago, Al-Aqsa was combining efforts with Hamas to plan and implement terrorist attacks.
It is the Palestinian Authority, run by Abbas and his Fatah party, which brought us things like Suicide Mickey to teach young children to hate and kill, and the United States of America provided at least some of the funds.
Thousands of palestinians hit the streets of Gaza to celebrate Hamas's victory, but you won't see that on the evening news. No, you will only see footage of relatively few "peaceful palestinians" running from Hamas. But, they were not just running from Hamas, they were running to Fatah, from one terrorist group to another terrorist group.
They are not choosing peace over terrorism, they are choosing which terrorist group they support. And in choosing Fatah over Hamas, we would do the same.
One man tells the cameras "I wish Israel would come back to Gaza" and everyone makes a big deal out of it, as if that one guy speaks for millions and yet, we have seen millions of them waving guns in the air shouting Death to Israel and Death to America, but we are not supposed to think they speak for themselves. No, instead, we are supposed to look at that one guy and believe he is representative of his people.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
Never mind the dancing and celebrations in the street when an Israeli is blown to bits, these people are peaceful! Never mind the dancing and celebrations in the street after 9/11, these people love America. Never mind their persecution of Christians, and the destruction of Christian Holy Places, these people are tolerant of other religions, they attack Christians because they're mad at the Jews, and they're just mad at the Jews because of the occupation.
Never mind that they attacked Israel in blood-frenzy to kill Jews and that's why they lost the land in the first place, they were just mad because of the occupation that was to come after they attacked and lost.
Never mind that the Al-Aqsa Brigade is a terrorist organization that shoots rockets into Israeli neighborhoods and sends suicide bombers into Israel, never mind that Al-Aqsa shoots men and women and children down in the streets, in their homes and in their cars, Al-Aqsa is part of Abbas's Fatah and therefore, we should support them, arm them and fund them with American taxpayer dollars.
Never mind that they put machine guns into the hands of children and train them to kill starting at age 3. Never mind that they strap bombs on their teenagers and send them into the streets to murder and die. They love their children, same as you do, and they just want to live in peace and have basic human rights like everyone else. That's why the ones in Israel, who live in peace and enjoy rights that no arab has in any arab country, use their ID cards and their access to help terrorists into Israel to kill Jews.
Are you going to believe what you see with your own eyes and hear with your own ears, or are you going to believe what the media tell you?
I have been watching events in Israel with my own eyes and listening to what they say with my own ears for all of my adult life.
The "reporting" of "events" in Israel has not changed over that time. The disinformation that you see now has been happening all along. Thanks to the internet, more people are aware of it, but I have always been aware of it.
My belief system tells me that "As Israel suffers, so shall the world" and the Jews are chosen by G-d to be a light unto nations.
In Israel, the darkness that is islam has that righteous light shining on it right now and the evil is no longer hidden in the shadows. What you see is what you get but the world denies what it sees.
There are training camps all over America for crying out loud, but still, people don't take the threat seriously.
The future is being shown to the world, and what life will be like if we continue to ignore what is happening.
If we support the terrorists, any terrorists, we will get more terrorists.

It ain't honorable
Earlier this month, we talked about Adam Kokesh, a Marine who disgraced his uniform by wearing it in the streets of our Capital, to denigrate our military and protest the war; and who, when caught and reprimanded for his violation of orders regarding wearing his uniform, cussed out his superior officers, in writing.
What he did was certainly other than honorable, in fact, it was down right dishonorable:

It takes a special kind of scumbag to portray our military in such a manner, but to see a Marine do such a thing...
Kokesh violated orders when he wore his uniform to protest the war, he was more than disrespectful when he cussed out superior officers, and the Marines decided to remove him with an "other than honorable" discharge. A review was held, evidence heard and a decision made.
Its official now, Kokesh has lost his "Honorable Discharge" and been bumped down to a general discharge as a direct result of his dishonorable behavior. A general discharge is more than he deserves but still, spin it any way you want, bottom line is... the discharge ain't honorable.
and thanks Jack, for the tip.

Like a bad penny...
She turns up again:
Seven years ago, she was wasting public dollars hunting the ever elusive Al Gore Chad, today, she's talking about cutting off the flow of emergency information to Broward County because she doesn't like Rush Limbaugh.
The Sun-Sentinel wrote in 2001 that Sue is "a real reformer," explaining that she is "out there fighting every week, demanding that the county be more accountable. [She] wants insiders to have less influence and the people to have more."
Yes, Sue Gunzburger wants "insiders to have less influence and the people to have more" and that's why she is fighting to stifle free speech in Broward County and in the process, putting the health, safety and security of Broward County on the line. WIOD has the strongest signal, and in South Florida, has become the number one source of emergency information, cutting programs when necessary, to get us the information we need to survive a hurricane.
Now, Sue is trying to change all that, and move Broward County's emergency information to a smaller station, with a weaker signal because she doesn't like Rush Limbaugh, and in the process, Sue is likely cutting off the flow of emergency information, in the name of politics.
This really ticks me off. I live in Miami-Dade, but, I'm a stone's throw from the county line, and in an emergency, I need information from both Miami-Dade and Broward counties. All three of my emergency radios are tuned to WIOD.
Sue Gunzburger is willing to put our lives on the line, and the lives of our children and loved ones, to score a political point against Rush Limbaugh.
Stupid silly bitch. The Sun-Sentinel has accumulated close to 2,000 comments on the article that exposes Sue's demands, and it makes for some interesting reading. There are lots of out-of-towners and Rush fans chiming in, but, there are plenty of locals too. I get the feeling the citizens of Broward County might do a little housecleaning next election.
Special thanks to DoubleU for bringing this to my attention.
County commissioners said they were deluged with complaints from throughout the country Wednesday after they questioned whether to cut their ties with the station because of their dislike for Limbaugh. By the end of the day, a majority of commissioners vowed to renew WIOD's agreement next week.
*snort* and the comments are hilarious.

Wii being used as therapy tool for wounded troops

Spc. Shawn Roberts, 27, left, from the 581st Signal Company, and Army Staff Sgt. Jason Lord, an occupational therapy assistant, duke it out virtual style on a Nintendo Wii boxing game at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Phot credit: Ben Bloker / S&S
LANDSTUHL, Germany — Army Spc. Shawn Roberts must play video games.
It’s doctor’s orders.
Every week he goes to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and plays games on the Nintendo Wii to help him recover from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Kuwait last April.
The Army hospital is experimenting using the popular video game console as a physical therapy tool for wounded servicemembers. Playing the game makes the often painful and boring therapy session fun, Roberts says.
The alternative is squeezing a ball of putty.
The fact that players have to move the controller in different directions to play the game is why therapists saw some benefit of introducing it to patients.

Brain surgery sucks
On March 4, 1998, I spent eleven and one-half hours in surgery to remove a tumor the size of a man's fist from my head. Having brain surgery was both the most horrible thing that ever happened to me, and the most wonderful. Fifty years ago, it would have killed me. Today, thanks to G-d and Dr. Landy, I am alive and tumor free.
Thus far, the tumor has not come back, but the periodic MRIs that I have are always a terrible time for me. I don't think I could face brain surgery again, knowing full and well what it will be like. I panic just thinking about it.
and now... a real breakthrough...
An Israeli researcher has developed and successfully tested a new device to combat glioblastoma mulitforme (GBM), the most common and aggressive type of brain cancer.
Professor Emeritus Yoram Palti, at Haifa's Technion Institute, told the website Israel21c that in tests on 10 cancer patients over the past year, his device has more than doubled the median overall survival rate of GBM patients.
The overwhelming success of tests has prompted 12 cancer centers in the US and another eight in Europe to initiate large-scale studies of the method.
Palti's device consists of small nodes that are attached to the scalp and use electrical fields to kill the cancer cells by interfering with the division of the cells, thereby arresting the growth of the tumor.
The nodes are powered by a small battery pack, allowing patients to undergo constant treatment while going about their daily lives.
Unlike chemotherapy, there are no side-effects.

Today's Capitalist Question
brought to you by the true religion of piss:
CAIRO, June 11 — First came the breast-feeding fatwa. It declared that the Islamic restriction on unmarried men and women being together could be lifted at work if the woman breast-fed her male colleagues five times, to establish family ties. Then came the urine fatwa. It said that drinking the urine of the Prophet Muhammad was deemed a blessing.
For the past few weeks, the breast-feeding and urine fatwas have proved a source of national embarrassment in Egypt, not least because they were issued by representatives of the highest religious authorities in the land.
So. According to the highest religious authorities in islam, drinking prophet piss is the way to go for the ulitimate blessing. But there is just on little problem, the prophet is currently dead as a doorknob and not producing any blessed piss, so where exactly is a Mohammedean supposed to find prophet piss?
Being a capitalist, and a Jew, it got me thinking. Suppose I named my dog Prophet Mohammed. Could I legally sell his urine as "Prophet Mohammed Urine" so they can get the blessings they deserve? and... it is better in a can or a bottle? and... is it better than camel urine?

What if I get a camel and name it Prophet Mohammed? Does that double the blessing?

A Nazi Moment from the past
Brought to you by the ACLU:
In 1977, a neo-Nazi group planned to march in Skokie, Illinois, in a largely Jewish neighborhood that was home to many Holocaust survivors. It was believed that the march would be disruptive, and the city refused to allow it.
The American Civil Liberties Union came to the Nazis' support, and in 1978 a high court upheld the Nazis' right to march, on the grounds that the public display of the Nazi flag is a constitutionally protected free expression. After winning the court battle, the Nazis decided to march in Chicago's Marquette Park instead.
Ten years later, in 1987, a Holocaust Monument and Museum was opened in Skokie. On the night of its dedication, the monument was desecrated with swastikas.

Stay and die... Its Allah's Will!
Fatwa forbids PA Muslims to emigrate:
Alarmed by the growing number of Palestinians who are emigrating from the Palestinian territories, the Palestinian Authority's mufti has issued a fatwa [religious decree] forbidding Muslims to leave.Sources in the PA Foreign Ministry told The Jerusalem Post that some 10,000 Palestinians have filed requests to emigrate from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the year. They said the requests had been approved.
"Every day we hear about hundreds of Palestinians who file requests for emigration with different consulates and diplomatic missions," the sources said.
"According to our statistics, there are at least 45,000 emigration applications being reviewed by different countries."
The sources said most of the applicants were young men seeking work abroad. They said the majority of them wanted to move to the US, EU and Canada.
WTF? The preferred destination is the West? The Great Satan, or another country that is directly under the influence of the evil Zionist Entity? What about all the democratic, tolerant and freedom loving arab states in the region? Why not emigrate to one of the "blessed" Islamic countries to enjoy living in freedom from tyranny and oppression? I hear Saudi Arabia is nice this time of year...
Sorry, but I can't muster up any sympathy for them, they chose their leaders and their way of life, what they reap, they now sow and if the harvest is bitter, they have only themselves to blame. And... each bullet fired by a palestinian at another palestinian is one less bullet fired at a Jew.

Make Love - Not War - Part II
"The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soliders to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistably attractive to one another..."
I have to wonder... why are they reviving an old story one year later?
This is from my post last year on this topic:
The plan for a so-called "love bomb" envisaged an aphrodisiac chemical that would provoke widespread homosexual behaviour among troops, causing what the military called a "distasteful but completely non-lethal" blow to morale.
But wait... there's more...
Scientists also reportedly considered a "sting me/attack me" chemical weapon to attract swarms of enraged wasps or angry rats towards enemy troops.
But wait... there's more...
Another idea was to develop a chemical causing "severe and lasting halitosis", so that enemy forces would be obvious even when they tried to blend in with civilians.
But wait... there's more...
In a variation on that idea, researchers pondered a "Who? Me?" bomb, which would simulate flatulence in enemy ranks.
That's all well and good, and funny too. Ha ha. Ha. It beats sending our troops out door to door for terrorists. But... since when is bad breath and chronic farting a war tactic?

can't we just kill the enemy and be done with it?

Today's Good News
The seemingly forgotten incident began as a Marine convoy of the Camp Pendleton-based Kilo Company, Third Battalion, First Marine Regiment, was passing through the town of Haditha in the contested Iraqi province of Anbar on Nov. 19, 2005. A roadside improvised explosive device (IED) went off, killing Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, 20, of El Paso, Texas, who was on his second tour of duty.
After the initial attack, the Marines took small arms fire from nearby houses. They returned fire and went house to house searching for their attackers. For their efforts in responding to an insurgent ambush, four Marines were charged with murder, accused of engaging in a rampage of revenge for their fallen comrade.
Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, 26, was charged with using his service rifle to murder 18 individuals while having "intent to kill or cause great bodily harm."
Three squad mates — Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt, 22, Sgt. Sanick P. Dela Cruz, 24, and Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum, 25 — were charged with unlawfully killing three, five and six civilians, respectively. Others were charged with covering up the incident.
While the matter was still under investigation, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., decided it would be sentence first and trial later when he proclaimed that the Marines had "killed innocent civilians in cold blood."
Yeah well... last month, murder charges are dropped against one Marine and the court hearing of two others were postponed and now... this....
SAN DIEGO — Charges against a Marine officer accused of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha should be dismissed, the investigating officer in the case has recommended.
Capt. Randy W. Stone, 34, is one of four officers accused of failing to report and investigate the deaths of the men, women and children in a deadly sweep on a chaotic day of battle in the village.
His attorney, Charles Gittins, said Saturday that investigating officer Maj. Thomas McCann concluded in a report to the commanding general overseeing the case that Stone should not face trial and the matter should be handled administratively.
The recommendation is non-binding. A final decision will be made by Lt. Gen. James Mattis, the commanding general overseeing the case.
Stone faces up to 2 1/2 years in prison and dismissal if his case goes to trial and he is convicted.
Camp Pendleton spokesman Lt. Col. Sean Gibson declined to comment until Mattis makes his final decision.
Stone is one of four officers charged with dereliction of duty. Three enlisted Marines are charged with murder. All belonged to the Camp Pendleton-based 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment.

Strengthen the hands of those who defend our holy land, grant them deliverance, and adorn them in a mantle of victory.
Ordain peace in the land and grant its inhabitants eternal happiness. Lead them, swiftly and upright, to Your city Zion and to Jerusalem, the abode of Your Name, as is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses: “Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the Lord your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.”
Draw our hearts together to revere and venerate Your name and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah, and send us quickly the Messiah son of David, agent of Your vindication, to redeem those who await Your deliverance.
Manifest yourself in the splendor of Your boldness before the eyes of all inhabitants of Your world, and may everyone endowed with a soul affirm that the Lord, God of Israel, is king and his dominion is absolute.
Amen

Code-Name: Opera
In the late 1970s, Iraq purchased an "Osiris class" nuclear reactor from France. Israeli military intelligence assumed this was for the purpose of plutonium production to further an Iraqi nuclear weapons program. Israeli intelligence also believed that the summer of 1981 would be the last chance to destroy the reactor without exposing the Iraqi civilian population to nuclear fallout. After that point, the reactor would be loaded with nuclear fuel.
Israel had learned that Iraq was about to receive a shipment of enriched uranium for its reactor near Baghdad -- enough to build four or five Hiroshima-size bombs, the reactor was 600 miles from Israel.
On June 7, 1981, a squadron of Israeli F-16A fighter aircraft, with an escort of F-15As, bombed and heavily damaged the Osirak reactor.
Then Prime Minister Menachem Begin ordered the attack to occur before the uranium arrived and the reactor went "hot," at which point bombing would have scattered radioactive waste over Baghdad.
Eight Israeli F-16’s took off in the late afternoon from an Israeli air base in the Sinai. Behind them six Israeli F-15’s took off, as well, to provide cover for a very special and important mission. Flying low and in a tight formation, the fighter jets passed through Jordanian and Saudi Arabian airspace undetected.

Finally, the jets enter Iraqi airspace. At 5:35 in the evening, about an hour and a half after the jets took off, they reach their target. Two minutes later Operation Opera comes to a successful conclusion. The Iraqi nuclear reactor, Osirak, has been totally destroyed.
From Lieutenant-Colonel's Ze'ev Raz - (squadron's leader and leader of the attack) briefing :
The route: "We are about to fly a course over Eilat and Aquaba, and then south of Jordan along Saudi-Arabia's border. This route is planned to avoid Arab villages and cities where we might be discovered, so we will fly over desert area until Baghdad. This is not the shortest path to fly, but it would avoid radar detection, so we will remain undetected just until we get over target. On the way to the target we will fly at an altitude of 150 ft. On our way back we will fly at high altitude. We are short on fuel ! Those who get engaged in dogfights won't make it back !"
The bombing technique: "About 20 km east to the reactor we will ignite the afterburner to full power and start a climb. At the peak we will roll over, identify the target and dive at the speed of 600 knots at 35 degrees. Release the bombs at an altitude of 3,500 feet, aiming at the base of the structure, and release flares to avoid hits by ground fire. All pilots will drop their bombs in intervals of 5 seconds - You will drop 16 bombs in total, but a hit of 8 bombs could do the job !"
The weapons : "You will be armed with two 1,000 kg "iron" bombs, equipped with delay fuses, to ensure explosion deep in the reactors core to maximize the damage."
Target defense : "The reactor has its own air defense system, combined of AAA guns and missiles. Target is surrounded by high earth ramparts."
Code-named Opera, the raid was a spectacular success.
While this operation was initially almost universally condemned by the world community, in retrospect this Israeli operation is highly praised by many.
Opera was not Israel's first preemptive act against Iraq's attempts to acquire nuclear weapons. In April 1979 unidentified saboteurs blew up reactor parts at a French port, parts awaiting shipment to Iraq. In August 1980 an Egyptian-born nuclear physicist important to Iraq's nuclear program was killed in Paris.
News of the audacious raid did not actually emerge until 24 hours later when Israel made its announcement. Only then did Iraq admit it had happened and express indignation.
One of the pilots involved was Colonel Ilan Ramon who trained as Israel's first astronaut but was killed in the Columbia shuttle disaster in 2003. He flew in Number 4 of the first formation and described the flight:
"We fly deep within Iraq, It is all desert around us while we pass another marking point on our route. I try to concentrate on flying my F-16, but from time to time I think about the target we are about to attack, and the responsibility we've got. It's the first time in my life that I really feel responsible for the destiny of a whole nation. The view changes - a blue river in the middle of the desert. We have been here 2500 years ago... I see buildings and a deserted airfield. Somebody calls over the radio : "Watch out for AAA fire !" and the sky gets filled with flashes of exploding rounds. I light the afterburner and pull up. Just in front of my eyes I see the earth ramparts and behind it - you can't miss - the silver dome of the reactor...
"Eshkol 8" sounds the radio, "Everybody Charlie!" - Charlie was the code name meaning all pilots have dropped their bombs.
It was amazing - I managed to see how the bombs of the pilots in front of me hit the target and the dome collapsed into the structure ! The hits were excellent, and now we fly at high altitude back to our base. I hope they didn't start a chase, to run us out of fuel...
We cross the Arava and we are back in Israel. The IAF commander calls on the radio, and says: "All you have to do now is land"...
Thank you Israel!

Blame the Jews for winning the Six Day War!
Egyptian columnist Wael Abdel Fattah wrote in the independent weekly Al-Fagr newspaper that Arabs blame the defeat for "everything" — from "price hikes, dictatorship, religious extremism, sectarian strife, even sexual impotence."
I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. Just be thankful I left out the visual.

There are men
and then, there are men like this Marine:
In his final hours spent battling insurgents in Iraq, Cpl. Jason Clairday defied the enemy fighters and their AK47 fire to lead members of his infantry squad in a close-quarters urban fight to protect their fallen and wounded friends.
Before the day was over, Clairday, a 21-year-old fire team leader from Salem, Ark., was killed, but not before several injured buddies were evacuated and the insurgent-held position in Fallujah's Askari district was destroyed.
On the day of the fateful firefight, Clairday and his squad were doing a security sweep of the Askari neighborhood when insurgent fighters attacked members of 3rd Platoon. Clairday "immediately repositioned his men and jumped a four-foot gap three stories up onto the roof of the enemy stronghold where a mortally wounded Marine lay, isolated by the enemy," the award citation states.
Clairday threw several fragmentation grenades to lead the attack into the house, but "he was immediately hit with AK47 rifle fire in both legs and fell into the kill zone."
But the young Marine wasn't about to stop.
"Under heavy enemy fire, he continued to aggressively engage the enemy while extracting himself from the doorway. Without regard for his own wounds, he rejoined the squad making entry and entered the house a second time," the citation states. "Once inside, he took control of the stack and repositioned himself in the front while suppressing the enemy using fragmentation grenades and his rifle. Again, without concern for his own safety, Corporal Clairday led the Marines into the room where he single-handedly attacked the insurgents and received mortal wounds.
"His courageous actions enabled reinforcing assault elements to destroy the insurgent position."
and just yesterday...
CAMP PENDLETON — More than 140,000 Marines have served in Iraq or Afghanistan since the Sept. 11 attacks. Only 18 have received the Navy Cross, second only to the Medal of Honor for combat bravery.
On Monday, the family of the 18th recipient, Cpl. Jason S. Clairday, gathered to receive his posthumous award and to hear the young man, who was 21 when he died, remembered as one "who set the standard for others to follow."
Clairday was awarded the Navy Cross for leading Marines in storming an insurgent stronghold in Fallouja in December 2004 to support Marines pinned down inside the home. Already wounded in the first assault, he refused to leave th
