Congressional Anti-Jew Who's Who

Ed Lasky over at American Thinker points out:

Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) has been a stalwart supporter of the American-Israel alliance. He recently introduced an amendment to the foreign aid bill that would prohibit groups that deny Israel's right to exist from receiving American (taxpayer dollar) foreign aid. The amendment passed 390-30.

Of the 30 members of Congress who have no problem with giving money to groups that advocate and plan for the destruction of Israel, 27 of them were Democrats.

So. Let's talk numbers. When given a choice, 12% of Congressional Democrats voted to support countries that deny Israel's right to exist, against 1.5% of the Republicans. It would appear that one in eight democrats are in favor of pushing the Jews into the sea, and I'm sorry to say, the majority of black members of Congress are part of that 12%.

And hence the $64,000 question- when will the Jewish people stop supporting Democrats en masse?

Linda, any guesses?

Liberalism is a stronger religious belief.

Actually Vince, they are stopping. And the numbers are interesting. It seems that the older Jews are moving to the right, along with the religious Jews.

My rep, Cleaver, is in the list. Great.

I dug through the bill and amendments and found the text.

None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to provide direct aid to the Palestinian Authority, except as otherwise provided by existing law.

That's a little more restrictive then saying "groups that deny Israel's right to exist."

Linda, please, please tell me you are right, and the following statistics are wrong:

2006 Stats

Source- 2006 Annual Survey of American Jewish Opinion

The number of Jewish voters identifying themselves as Democrats has increased from 48 percent to 54 percent since the last mid-term election in 2002. At the same time, the number of Jewish voters identifying themselves as Republicans has decreased from 18 percent in 2002 to 15 percent in 2006.

According to the AJC 2006 Annual Survey, Jewish voters also believe that the Democratic Party is more likely to make the right decisions about the Iraq war and terrorism, as well as ensure a strong economy.

Dem=59%, Rep=22%: Who is more likely to make the right decision about the Iraq war?

Dem=60%, Rep=27%: Who is more likely to ensure a strong economy?

Dem=51%, Rep=28%: Who is more likely to make the right decision on terrorism?

These numbers are terrible if they are accurate. I keep hearing anectodotal evidence about Jewish voters giving up on this loathsome party, but I haven't seen this materializing in these surveys.
Are these surveys innacurate, or are people sayings one thing to the pollsters, but pulling the lever in the opposite direction? Enlighten me here, please.

Vince, all polls are subject to the spin of the pollster. The AJC leans left.

The RJC poll found:

26.4% of Jews voted Republican.

Younger Jewish voters who support Republican candidates are even greater numbers.

Among those under age 55, 30.7% voted Republican, compared to 23.8% of those age 55 and over.

It also found that Jewish men are more inclined to vote Republican (30.6%) than women (22.6%).

And, among those who attend synagogue almost every day, 35.2% voted Republican, those who attend once a week, 31.8% voted Republican, and only 23.1% of "occasional attendees" voted Republican.

Reform Jews voted 23.0% Republican, Conservative 25.2% Republican, and Orthodox 42% Republican.

The more religious, the more Republican.
