Why I don't watch TV

Because of people like Rebecca Aguilar:

She ambushed a 70-year-old man who was forced to do something he never wanted to do when, over a three week period, criminals broke into his home to steal, and he shot both of them, in separate incidents, on separate days. One of them, the last one, died.

"Are you a trigger happy kind of person? Is that what what you wanted to do? Shoot to kill?"

Talk about unfair and unbalanced reporting from a woman who was just named one of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists' Broadcast Journalists of the Year. I guess the second runner up was Giraldo.

I take little to no comfort in the fact that she has been suspended from her job for her behavior during this interview, suspended ain't fired and it means she'll be back to do it again.

I have no desire to hook up that TV again.

UPDATE: The video is dead because, In an orgy of shame, the station is demanding its removal from the internet.

I know nothing more about this story then what I am reading here. I did not click the link, or watch the video.

I have worked at local television affiliates, and I am a little confused at the suspension, there are more people involved with this getting on the air then just her. Minus the weather, sports, commercials and chit chat there is 10-15 minutes of time devoted to the news segments. There are several people involved in getting the story on the air. There is an assignment editor who tells the reporter to go out and get story such and such, a reporter can suggest a story and if approved they can take the time to do that story but the assignment editor tells what reporter to cover what story.
There are video editors, usually the camera man who edits the video for the most drama and effect.
There are producers that organize the news cast and see which stories are important and where they fit into the newscast, they also can drop stories and make changes.
And then there is the news director who is at the top. They may or may not be involved with each newscast but they are in charge of the news room.

Getting this story to air took the newsroom, not just one person.

This woman is a Load. The old fellow recently Killed another human being. He didn't "want" to.

Trust me, he doesn't relish the idea of having taken someone's life, even if, in Texas parlance, "He needed killin'".

I agree wholeheartedly with Miss Lindas' opinion of TV. Turn the friggin' thing off. Read a book.

Hell, Write a book. I reiterate about Ms.Og Wee Lahr, she's a Load.
Wollf

PS....to clarify, $100 bucks says that growing up she was "Aggillar". Just like All my high school buddies, Steve, Joe, Bibby. Sheesh.

I have had a TV for the past 30 years. I watch movies. I have never once had it connected to cable or dish or whatever. I have never paid a cable bill (never received one).

When I visit friends or otherwise see what is broadcast as entertainment, news, etc., I am stunned. You pay $300 for the box, $50 a month for the cable, and every last brain cell that gets sucked out of your head watching either fodder for cows or some politically-loaded propaganda masquerading as journalism.
